Goal SettingTake control, set your own goals, generate your own motivation,

make adjustments as you see necessary, determine your own success.

Hunt the Good StuffDon’t focus in the negative, hunt the good stuff, increase your

satisfaction with life, perform more optimally, have better relationships, train yourself to be more OPTIMISTIC.

Activating Event, Thought, Consequence (ATC)Your heat-of-the-moment thoughts about an event dictate how you

react; identifying these thoughts and understanding that you can control them allows you to get unstuck from unproductive patterns.

Energy ManagementRegulating your emotion and energy levels enables you to increase

critical thinking and perform optimally.

Avoid Thinking TrapsJumping to conclusions? Mind reading? Stop missing critical

information or misreading situations that lead to counterproductive patterns in thinking.

Detect IcebergsHave you blown up at work or at home and not known why? Can’t let something go? Identify what’s really going on; examine your core values

(what should be) and beliefs (what is) and their effect on your relationships.

May 6 ATC 9 - 11 AM

June 3 Avoid Thinking Traps 9 - 11 AM

July 1 Detect Icebergs 9 - 11 AM

August 5 Problem Solving 9 - 11 AM

September 2 Put It In Perspective 9 - 11 AM

November 4 Assertive Communication 9 - 11 AM

December 2 Effective Praise / Active Constructive Responding 9 - 11 AM

Page 15: Discovery September 2014

Problem SolvingAccurately identify the causes of your problem, increase your

flexibility in thinking, and help identify solution strategies.

Put It In PerspectiveStop making mountains out of molehills; lower your anxiety by

capturing your worst case thoughts, generating best case thoughts, and identifying and planning for the most likely outcomes.

Mental GamesUse fast, fun, challenging games and techniques to distract you from counterproductive thinking and be able to focus on the task at hand.

Real-Time ResilienceShut down counterproductive thinking to enable greater

concentration and focus on the task at hand.

Character Strengths In Self and OthersWho are you at your best? Identify your signature character strengths

and learn how to use them to overcome challenges, increase your effectiveness, and strengthen your relationships.

Character Strengths: Challenges and LeadershipIdentify character strengths in yourself and in others to build stronger

teams, enhance performance, deepen engagement, increase your effectiveness as a leader, and overcome challenges.

Assertive CommunicationAssertive individuals are more able to work out differences, believe

all people should be treated with respect, express themselves clearly and with confidence, and believe what is said by all matters.

Effective Praise and Active Constructive RespondingRather than saying “good job,” praising specific behaviors or skills

gives others exactly what they need to continue or repeat successes. By responding to others’ good news in a way that helps them savor it and relive the experience, you build stronger relationships, a sense

of well-being, and increased life satisfaction for both of you.
