Performances: February 25, 26, 27 and March 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20Richardson Theatre, Fort Shafter
A Chorus Line is a stunning musical verite about a chorus audition for a Broadway musical. It tells of the achingly poignant ambitions of professional Broadway gypsies to land a job in the show, and is a powerful metaphor for all human aspiration. Memorable musical numbers include “I Can Do That,” “At the Ballet,” “Dance: Ten; Looks: Three,” “The Music and the Mirror,” “What I Did for Love,” “One (Singular Sensation)” and “I Hope I Get It.” It is a brilliantly complex fusion of dance, song and compellingly authentic drama. The show was instantly recognized as a classic.
Directed by Vanita Rae Smith, Conceived and Originally Directed & Choreographed by Michael Bennett. Book by James Kirkwood & Nicholas Dante, Music by Marvin Hamlisch, Lyrics by Edward Kleban.
Blue Star Card Theatre Night: February 25
Reader’s Theatre: The Man Who Climbed Pecan TreesA comedy/drama by Horton FooteFebruary 28 & March 7, 14, 2010Richardson Theatre, Fort Shafter
Stanley Campbell is the publisher of the local newspaper in Harrison, Texas, who has taken to climbing the pecan trees in the Courthouse Square when he is in his cups. He makes threatening phone calls to his brother-in-law, whom he suspects of having an affair with his wife and to a former family friend who embezzled the Campbell inheritance. And, throughout the play, it is evident that the malaise which grips the nation (the Great Depression of the 1930s) hasn’t spared either Texas or the Campbell family, and while the rich, down-home dialogue of the play abounds in trenchant humor and revealing reminiscences the underlying sense of pain and discouragement shadows all that is said and done.

“Barnum's the name. P.T. Barnum. And I want to tell you that tonight you aregoing to see-bar none-every sight, wonder and miracle that name stands for!’’P.T. Barnum's name would become synonymous with the great Americandream and was always a guarantee of “larger-than-life” entertainment. Yes, sir,Come one, come all and see why BARNUM is welcomed with open arms allover the world. With songs like “There's a Sucker Born Every Minute” and“Come Follow The Band,” the show has the audience in the palm of its handfrom the stirring opening number to “The Grand Finale.” Here is the award-winning show that traces the career of America's greatest showman from 1835to 1889 when he joined James A. Bailey to form “the greatest show on earth.”

DIRECTED BY BRETT HARWOOD & Starring Laurence PaxtonBook and Lyrics by Bertolt Brecht and Music by Kurt Weill
This revolutionary work has been revived many times and in many differenttranslations, but it has always been a sensation. The original premiere wasin Berlin in 1928 and the first Broadway production was in 1933. Thesetting is London's Soho before and during the coronation of QueenVictoria. The master criminal Macheath prowls the back streets of Londonintroducing us to a motley crew of timeless characters. The cast is largelymade up of criminals, beggars and tarts. In his libretto, theatrical giantBertolt Brecht is interested in exposing corrupt officials of a sad andvicious society and holding a mirror up to our own. It is the legendary KurtWeill score that is actually what has made this show a classic. Who amongus won’t hum along as the show opens with the classic, "Mack the Knife."

It’s Whale Watching Season! Each year the Humpback whales swim from Alaskan feeding grounds to the warm waters of Hawaii. The whales journey across vast oceans, navigating by instinct alone. Hawaii is their winter home, a place to play, to give birth and to start new generations.
The very best months to whale watch are February and March when whale sightings are almost guaranteed. Oahu whale watching tours are a particular delight for visitors coming to Hawaii to escape the winter chill and these humpback whales can often be seen from the shoreline of Waikiki.
Come to the ITR office to purchase your tickets to observe these gentle giants.

MYSTERY SHOPPER PROGRAMAre you up for the challenge? The Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (DFMWR) is looking for volunteers to participate in the Mystery Shopper Program. The program is one of the avenues we use to evaluate our facilities and identify employees providing Legendary Service. Shoppers (Volunteers) are asked to anonymously “shop” at our various DFMWR facilities or activities, such as the clubs, golf courses, physical fitness centers, child development centers, and more. Approximately 3 hours may be required for each assignment, and the days and hours are flexible. Shoppers will be provided any money that is required for their mystery-shopping visit. Shoppers will also be asked to attend an in-brief (where they get all the information), and an out-brief (where they briefly explain their shopping experience). If you are up for the challenge and want to have some fun at the same time, contact Sandy Kawahara at 656-0078 or e-mail [email protected] for an application.
