ARMY FAMILY COVENANT/BLUE STAR CARD/KMC

The Blue Star Card is a FMWR deployment discount and activity card for Spouses of deployed Soldiers. The card offers everyday discounts at FMWR facilities, free childcare options and access to special events and activities. Blue Star Cards are available and valid through the duration of deployment.

If you are eligible* for a Blue Star Card, bring a copy of your Soldier’s deployment orders, along with your military ID to Army Community Service (ACS) on Schofield Barracks, or fill out an application online at www.bluestarcardhawaii.com and then visit ACS to pick up your card. Make sure to submit your email address when signing up for your Blue Star Card so you can be emailed with the latest discounts, events, and activities for card holders.

* To be eligible, Spouses of Army combat deployed Active Duty/Reserve/National Guard Soldiers/DA Civilian employees must be stationed in Hawaii, deployed for at least six months, and receive hazardous duty pay. Spouses of Soldiers deployed for less than six months may also qualify. Please call 656-3325/3327 to find out.

Pililaau Recreation Center 696-4158Pililaau Army Recreation Center at Pokai Bay in Waianae is located 18 miles from Schofield Barracks and 22 miles from Pearl Harbor. The Center has 39 beach front cabins, an equipment rental center, club facility, and a Cove Pavilion area for group outings. Accommodations range from studios, two bedroom cabins, and three bedroom cabins with kitchens. For information and reservations, call 696-4158.

CHILD, YOUTH AND SCHOOL SERVICES/SKIES UNLIMITED

For families who would like to enroll in the September-November 2009 semester for dance, theater, cooking, art, RockSchool & Hula, please telephone SKIES at 655-9818, August 4-8, 7:30am -3pm. Dance, theater, and RockSchool are also offered at AMR Youth Center. Spaces are on a first come first serve basis. Please remember spaces are limited for 2-6 year olds. Children must be members of CYS Services or enrolled in SKIES to receive space.

Child, Youth and School Services

What you need to know:All classes are taught by certified Red Cross water safety instructors.Skill levels 1-6, parent/toddler, adult beginner and private swim lessons are all available.Toddler/Pre-School (3-5 years old) programs concentrate on water adjustment skills, classes are by age level and progression. Requires in water participation of a parent or other adult who is responsible for the child. This course does not teach children to be accomplished swimmers or to survive in water.Registration is on a first come, first served basis, children must be registered with CYSS before registering for these programs.

Schedule is subject to change upon instructor availability.Cost: $30 for eight 30-minute classes per session, $40 for eight 45-minute classes per session or nine 30-minute classes per session, and $50 for nine 45-minute classes per session.
