Day 1 Homeport – Singapore or BangkokDepart Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth on Singapore Airlines or Thai Airways fl ight to Singapore or Bangkok. Private hotel transfer for your overnight stay.O/n Singapore or Bangkok

Day 2 Singapore or Bangkok – Infl ightFree day in Singapore or Bangkok. An early evening airport transfer for your fl ight to Frankfurt on either Singapore Airlines or Thai Airways. O/n Infl ight (B)

Day 3 Arrive in FrankfurtEarly morning arrival into Frankfurt and later a transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free. This is the start of your Cosmos ‘Highlights of Germany’ tour. Tonight, meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers, with dinner included. (D)

Day 4 Frankfurt – Rhine River Cruise – Cologne – RhinelandToday’s highlight is an included Rhine cruise from Oberwesel to Boppard to enjoy scenic views of the Rhineland, including the famous Lorelei Rock. The next highlight is Cologne and a visit to its impressive gothic Cathedral, started in 1248 and completed in 1880. (B,D)

Day 5 Rhineland – Hamelin – HamburgThis morning, journey into Niedersachsen to visitHamelin. Admire its town centre with its colourful historical buildings and magically fancy gables echoing the storyof the Pied Piper. Continue to Hamburg, where you may want to join an optional harbour cruise. (B)

Day 6 Hamburg – Lubeck – BerlinStart the day with an orientation drive in Hamburg, one of Germany’s greatest maritime cities. Later this morning, leave for Lubeck, formerly a free Hanseatic city and independent state. Lubeck, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is considered the cultural capital of northern Germany. Thomas Mann, Gunther Grass, and Willy Brandt-all Nobel laureates-were among the famous residents of this city. Later, arrive in Berlin and enjoy your fi rst evening in the capital of Germany. (B)

Day 8 Berlin – Dresden – LeipzigTravel southwest to Dresden, the old capital of Saxony and at one time rightly called the “Florence on the Elbe.” See the Johann Sebastian Bach and Felix Mendelssohn lived the last years of their lives. It was Mendelssohn who founded the Leipziger Conservatory in 1843. (B,D)

Day 9 Leipzig – Weimar – Coburg – NurembergLeave Leipzig to visit Weimar, home to many intellectuals of the past but mainly known for the name given to the historical period of the “Republic of Weimar.” This cityis also famed as the home of the Bauhaus architectural movement in the 1920s. Next stop is Coburg. Visit the dominating and mighty Veste Coburg Castle, built in 1225. Continue to Nuremberg for a visit to its famous town centre, dominated by the imperial castle. (B)

Day 10 Nuremberg – Rothenberg – MunichDrive along the Romantic Road, through towns and villages protected by medieval towered gates and battlements, with squares of half-timbered houses and richly decorated fountains. Visit a fi ne example of this architecture in the quaint medieval centre of Rothenberg. Overnight in Munich. (B)

Day 11 MunichWith a Local Guide, take advantage of the included sightseeing tour of the city known as Germany’s“Secret Capital.” Time to admire the beautiful main square, MarianPlatz, do some shopping and sample its most famous product-beer! (B,D)

Day 12 Munich – Neuschwanstein – Black Forest areaLeave Munich and drive into the heart of the Bavarian Alps to visit the most famous 19th-century, neoromantic castle of the world, King Ludwig II’s fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle. Enjoy more idyllic scenery on your way throughthe Black Forest. (B,D)

Day 13 Black Forest – Heidelberg – FrankfurtThe day starts with a visit to Heidelberg. This city is the location of Germany’s oldest university and became an inspiration and myth for the German Romantic movement. From here, continue to Frankfurt. (B)

Day 14 Frankfurt – CologneYour tour ends with breakfast followed by an airport transfer, where we take the express train service to Cologne, then a short walk to our nearby hotel. The restof the day is at leisure to independently explore the city starting with the iconic gothic Cologne cathedral the adjoining ’historic centre’. O/n Cologne (B)

Day 15 Cologne – At leisure – Board cruise shipContinue to discover Cologne and there are many museums that may interest you… Imhoff-Schokoladenmuseum (chocolate museum); Römisch-Germanisches Museum (Romano-Germanic Museum); and Wallraf-Richartz-Museum (art gallery). Also popular are the Great Saint Martin Church is a Romanesque Catholic church and the 103m high KölnTriangle building with amazing panorama views from the top. Late afternoon we board our luxury ship moored in Cologne’s picturesque historic centre.

Day 16 KoblenzVisit the city tour of Koblenz, dominated by its immense fortress overlooking the confl uence of the Rhine and the Moselle rivers. We take a guided walk around the old town exploring its twisting streets and picturesque squares.

Day 17 Rhine Gorge & RüdesheimToday, we cruise through the Rhine Gorge and the famous Lorelei Rock. Next we call at Rüdesheim and ride on the “Winzerexpress” miniature railway to “Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Cabinet”, with 350 automatic musical instruments. Maybe sample local wines, and join a chairlift ride above the vineyards enjoying spectacular panorama views.

Day 18 MainzA short cruise to the fascinating town of Mainz,where the Rhine and Main rivers meet, and also standsSt Stephen’s church where light fl ickers through its beautiful blue stained glass windows. We have a guided tour of Johannes Gutenberg Museum, the inventor of the printing press and the local museum exhibits.

Day 19 FrankfurtA guided city tour with visit to the Main Tower, Old Town square, Opera House and cathedral.

Day 20 WertheimWe cruise through dense forests and around the many meandering bends which is so characteristic of the River Main, stopping at picturesque Wertheim. Enjoy a walking tour of this beautiful town, unknown on the tourist trail.

Day 21 WürzburgWe arrive in Würzburg, situated at the head of Germany’s ’Romantic Road’ where we have a walking tour of this lovely city. A former seat of the Prince Bishops, their truly magnifi cent Residenz is one of Europe’s fi nest Baroque palaces.

Day 22 BambergToday we visit Bamberg, one of the most beautiful small

towns in Europe, not only is it historic, it is stunning too with a network of canals like Venice and the fascinating tangle of lanes, lined with merchant’s houses.

Day 23 NurembergWe visit Nuremberg, regarded as the capital of Germany’s First Reich. Enjoy an included guided tour to Kaiserburg Castle, Craftsmen’s Court, Church of St Lawrence andthe Market Square with its beautiful fountain.

Day 24 RegensburgThis morning, we cruise along the man-made Main- Danube Canal to Kelheim, and join the Danube River,one of the most famous rivers in the world. We visit Regensburg’s Altes Rathaus and historic city centre with its glorious winding streets and alleyways of the old town.

Day 25 PassauOur cruise ends in Passau, where we farewell ourcrew and newfound friends. The rest of the day is freeto explore this beautiful medieval city where the Danube,llz and Inn rivers meet, and also thrived during the yearsof the salt trade. In the middle of the ‘old town’ is St Stephen’s Cathedral which houses the largest pipe organ in Europe with 17,774 pipes. Also visit the Inn Promenade and Bishop’s Palace. O/n Passau (B)

Day 26 Passau – MunichThis morning we take the local train to Munich Airport for our early afternoon homebound fl ight via Singapore or Bangkok. O/n Infl ight

Day 27 Arrive in Singapore/Bangkok – AustraliaEarly arrival in Singapore or Bangkok and connectwith our respective fl ight to Australia. Arrive in the eveningand sadly our tour comes to an end, but our friendships and memories will continue.
