Our attempt is to keep them on the edge of their seat throughout 'Aksar 2'," Mahadevan had said earlier about the film. What is Saif Ali Khan saying about Salman for 'Race 3'? MUMBAI, (IANS) Saif Ali Khan, who has featured in two instalments of Bollywood franchise "Race", says who better than superstar Salman Khan to replace him in the third movie. Ramesh Taurani has reportedly announced that the franchise will move ahead without Saif, and Salman will play the lead instead. Saif, who was here on Thursday at the launch of the trailer of "Chef", w as asked about the third film in the franchise and the new casting of Salman. He said: "Actually Ramesh had told me about this last year that he wants to make a new film in the franchise, 'Race 3', and wanted to take up a new cast. I love Rameshji and who better than Salman Khan for this. If you are looking for a film that is unintentionally funny because it takes itself so seriously you would think the end-result would be a heist film on a par with Vijay Anand's "Jewel Thief" or at least Milan Luthria's "Kachche Dhaage", then look again. This is no "Oceans 11". "Baadshaho" is a class apart. Seldom have I come cross a screenplay so absurd and bombastic that it qualifies among the most deplorably written feasts of fatuousness in recent times. Making it worse are the performances. So pretentious and hammy are the actors it would be an insult to good taste to call them actors. Topping the list of per forming travesties is Ileana D'Cruz. Playing what looks like a Gayatri Devi lookalike she gives what could possibly rank among the most laugh- able portrayals of royalty in recent times. Unable to speak one Hindi line properly and housing expressions that range from blank to dumb, Ms D'Cruz makes you wonder how she manages to survive in a business where every wrong move is on camera. And the camera in this Rajasthan-based is manned by Sunita Radia with a roaring ruggedness and a penchant for flavourful dusty colours which fly furi- ously in our faces forever scoffing the insipid storytelling. Not that "Badshaho" has any dearth of noise and colour. The screen is clogged with mindless mayhem and a riot of blinding colours. Surely this swirl of synthetic drama would have a desired impact at some point? But no. The absurdities abound to the extent that you wonder why Rajat Arora wrote this bombastic screenplay in the first play. And what is Ajay Devgn doing here? Undoubtedly the superstar of the show, he has an ill-defined role. He tries to get past the limitations impinged on his character. His Rajasthani accent slips in and out like a moody oil slick. He plays right-hand to Rani Ileana D'Cruz who is as slippery a woman as any that God invented since Man realized that the organ in his pants is meant for more than just peeing. Rani Sahiba smooches her orderly in the open for tresses of Rajasthan with her bare- back suggesting nudity. Would any Rani worth her crown get naked and smooch her subject in full view? Ileana is not the only one indulging in incoherent nudity. When we first meet Vidyut Jamwal - yes, that paragon of wooden expressions, is also in the cast - he is sitting naked in a train. Probably waiting for someone to pull the emergency signal. Oh, and the aforementioned Rani Sahiba smooches Jamwal too in a prison cell where she is locked up during the Emergency. Wish someone had locked away this film's screenplay and forgotten the key. Why the Emergency? What is its relevance to the plot except to have a Sanjay Gandhi lookalike (Priyanshu Chatteree) make cheesy passes at the Rani. Later we see him zonked out of his senses with semi-naked girls lounging on the floor. Sanjay Gandhi is not the only one slandered by this perverse action film. Talented actors like Sanjay Mishra and Sharad Kelkar seem to be puppets of a fate controlled by forces far beyond the precincts of coherence and logic. And Emran Hashmi, dear fans, do say a prayer for his dead career. His Rajasthani character with kohl in the eye and a perpetual smirk on the lips would probably have been more bearable if he didn't have to romance the vacuous bimbo named Esha Gupta. Just why the film industry tolerates the likes of Gupta and D'Cruz is a subject worthy of a thesis. NIKKA ZAILDAR 2 TO WARM YOUR HEARTS CHANDIGARH - After a huge suc- cess on the big screen of "Nikka Zaildar", Ammy Virk is back with another part of the same tale as "Nikka Zaildar 2" but again with a twist and a love story or can be called as affair parallel to his married life with Wamiqa Gabbi, yet most of the characters of the movie are same and movie seems yet interesting as the pre- vious one. The trailer starts with the scene that Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa are getting mar- ried, where the previous part of the film was ended. And then starts the real story and comedy that will defiantly work this time as well on the box office and may become more popular than the previous one. The movie is go- ing to September 22 this year and it may seem very early to some- one as the 1st part was released on 30th of September 2016. So we can say that it's releasing within a year, but also we can say that this wasn't expected that there would be a second part of the movie as it was never a mystery at the end of the film but yes one can call it a surprise from the di- rector Simerjit Singh (Also the director of famous movies like Nikka Zaildar and Angrej). Varun Dhawan took inspiration from real life twins for 'Judwaa 2' Sajid Nadiadwala's 'Judwaa 2' will bring back the 1997's blockbuster hit 'Judwaa'. The reprised version will star Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles. Varun Dhawan who will be playing a double role for the first time took inspiration from real life twins to get into the skin of the characters. He tried to understand the complexities and nuances required to por- tray the dual character. Explaining the same the actor said, "I did a lot of research for the film. I have two friends Aman and Pawan who are twins in real life, so I tried to find out how is it. In fact, I even tried to find out if one has a girlfriend so how does she tell them apart, I mean doesn't she acci- dentally catch hold of the other one. I did find out that sometimes twins take advantage of the fact." Varun Dhawan will bring back the iconic characters of the tapori Raja and the nerdy Prem from the 1997 film in 'Judwaa 2'. Packed with action, drama, and humour the comedy film with a fun plot has been an all time favorite amongst the family audience. There has been a huge anticipation to witness the revamped version of the film. Here's the secret behind Jacqueline Fernandez' sizzling figure Jacqueline Fernandez who is known for her beauty and fitness indulgence has a secret behind her sizzling figure. The actress has always been an advocate of being natural in all ways and has adopted the same in her daily life. Owing to her sizzling figure and natural beauty, here is the secret behind it: Her day star ts with a glass of warm water and yoga practice.Yoga is very rooted in the workout and fitness regime of the svelte beauty. She practices yoga at least 3-4 times a week. She also likes to practice different activities such as pilates, hot yoga and few sets of planks which help her in staying fit. 'HASEENA PARKAR' TO RELEASEON SEP 22: DIRECTOR LAKHIA

MUMBAI, (IANS) "Haseena Parkar" director Apoorva Lakhia on Tues-day cleared the air about the film's release being postponed and saidthe film is releasing on September 22. Originally the film was sup-posed to release on July 14 but it was pushed to August 18 to avoidthe clutter at the box office. Then according to a statement issued onbehalf of the producers the film's release date was finalized as Sep-tember 22.When media asked about the film's release being postponed again,Lakhia said, "People can write what they want as long as we arecoming in the news. We are coming to theaters on the 22nd of Sep-tember and we never said anything otherwise. We are really lookingforward to it and today we star t the promotions for the film." He waspresent at the Twitter office for the song launch of the film.Asked why the makers chose to release a romantic song first fromthe film, Apoorva said, "From the trailer it seems like a very violentand action oriented film but that is not the case, Haseena was marriedto her elder brother's best friend Ibrahim who not only ran a restaurantbut in his free time used to work as a stunt man in Bollywood."They were madly in love and she was married at a very young age.

She had a beautiful marriage and she lost her husband at a young age. This song is by Sachin and Jigar and we thought this would be anideal song to show the world a softer side of Haseena Parkar becausewhen she was young she was very romantic but her circumstanceswere what got her where she reached." Shraddha Kapoor plays thetitle role along with her brother Siddhanth Kapoor as Dawood Ibrahimand Ankur Bhatia as Haseena's husband. The film marks the time inHaseena's life from 17 to 40 years old.Shraddha, the lead actor in the film, said that she does not want togeneralize their (Shraddha and Siddhanth Kapoor) characters as vil-lains. She said, "I would not generalize our characters because thatwill be putting a judgment and a point of view, so we are completelypor traying this as a character and it's entirely up to the audience todecide. We are showing a wide perspective so that people can judgebased on the film." The song "Tere Bina" is the first song releasedfrom the film. Composed by Sachin-Jigar and written by Priya Saraiya,"Tere Bina" is a duet sung by Arijit Singh and Priya Saraiya. This filmwill also mark Shraddha Kapoor's first female protagonist film. Shewas last seen in "Half Girlfriend" with Arjun Kapoor.

Big B to play slum soccer founderVijay Barse in 'Sairat' director's film

BY SUBHASH K JHAMUMBAI, (IANS) After playing a Bal Thackeray doppelganger in RamGopal Varmas "Sarkar" series, it is time for the indefatigable AmitabhBachchan to play yet another real-life character in "Sairat" directorNagaraj Manjules new film -- his first in Hindi. In the film which is yetto get a title Big B plays Vijay Barse who more than a decade ago, established the Nagpur based NGO Slum Soccers which helps slumkids find their bearings through the game of football.Though he is more than happy to speak about his adulation forBachchan, Manjule is reluctant to talk about the project he will star tshooting with the megastar in October. "Let's just say, it is based on areal-life character. But the way I've written the par t and the film, itmoves very far away from the original source," he said. Manjule hasbeen writing his new Bachchan film for a good two years."And before that I was researching on the subject. I don't mind spend-ing time on my script. I spent a good 8 years on the script of Sairat. I

wrote it with only Bachchan Saab in mind. I've been his fan fromchildhood. I grew up copying his clothes, speech and mannerismsfrom Majboor and Deewaar. I'd go to school with my shir t tied likeBachchan Saab in 'Deewaar' and get severely reprimanded by myteachers. But the punishment had no effect on me. I'd still do it," hesaid. Manjule, a self-confessed Bachchan bhakt, says when he metBachchan he was somehow able to control his adulation. "I don'tknow how but I managed to remain calm, restrained and dignified. Iactually wanted to jump out of my seat and dance around him. But I narrated myscript in an even tone. I am happy I did that. I didn't want to come across as just afan. Of course I am a fan for lifetime. And someday when I complete my film withhim I'll tell him how much effort it took me to not gush and rave when I met himfor the first time," he said. The director wants to focus on making agood film. He said: "I don't feel burdened by the responsibility of livingup to 'Sairat'. But yes, I want the audience to say I made a good filmagain. I don't want people to say, "Yeh Nagaraj ne kya banaya hai?'

DIRECTOR: R.S. PRASANNA

RATING: ***

It's okay if you can't get it up. There. I said it. It's taken Hindi cinemayears and years to be liberated from the shackles of libidinous ma-chismo. An actor called Ayushmann Khurrana has done.A He playsan ordinary guy with a routine problem with such conviction.Ayushmann's Mudit in "Shubh Mangal Saavdhan" suffers from per-formance anxiety whenever he tries to make out with his bride-to-be,played with spunk and spontaneity by Bhumi Pednekar who is rapidlyemerging as the voice of the mofussil woman. In many ways, Bhumi is the hero of this remarkable film that's even-tually bogged down by too many stereotypical characters associatedwith the small-town joint families. You know them, quirky, cantanker-ous, eccentric, whimsical but cute and honest. Bhumi's Sugandha isone of the most sharply-written female heroes in recent films.Sugandha is deeply middleclass and proud of it. She resolves tomarry the sexually dysfunctional (albeit temporarily so, but whoknows!) Mudit not out of any false sense of bravado but because...well, this is the best she can get. And he is so goddamned devoted.Once she makes up her mind to go with Mudit she will see her re-solve to its logical (?) conclusion.Screenwriter Hitesh Kewalya finds space in the cluttered canvas togive the couple breathing, if not breeding, space. Their first (abor ted)sexual encounter in a cramped MIG flat in Delhi with sounds of songs

and everyday conversation seeping subtly into their activity is donein a lengthy flurry of furious foreplay signifying nothing. It's a se-quence filled with clumsy groping and slurply smooching played outwith endearing honesty. Another brilliantly written sequence of foiledpassion has Sugandha trying to seduce Mudit at a picnic with a plung-ing neckline and groaning tips from an orgiastic song that goes "Cometo me, Danny Boy". Danny Boy's reactions of smothered frustrationare priceless. Though the script constructs a case for the girl's bour-geois heroism (if you can't have cake have the crumbs) for me thereal hero of the film is Ayushmann Khurana's Mudit. A man who loseshis 'manhood' but holds on to his dignity even as the entire familyscoffs at his condition, and emerges a hero in the most unforeseenways. Ayushmann expresses Mudit's erectile disenchantment withjust a whisper of a look, a hint of despair... subtle sly and chic, this isan Everyman played with reined-in vigour and unostentatious valour.Though his character suffers from per formance anxiety this is per for-mance supremely devoid of any anxiety. Lamentably the script crowdsMudit's dignified anxieties with sniggering friends and scoffing rela-tives. I wish the couple had been left alone by the screenplay to sor tout their mutual problem. By bringing the entire family from both thesides into the picture to thresh out the problem on hand, the filmironically mocks the very malady that it so sensitively puts forward.

Nihalani was ousted as the chief of the Central Boardof Film Cer tification (CBFC) over his controversial diktats of suggest-ing cuts and beeps film after film, just last month. At the trailer launch of "Julie 2", asequel to the 2004 film "Julie", Nihalani had to field some tough ques-tions from the media, given how the rushes feature lead actress RaaiLaxmi stripping away. Considering that the film tells the journey of alady who is exploited by the film industry, and is quite lady-oriented inits theme, asked what rating is he expecting from the CBFC and howmany cuts, Nihalani said: "I know where the question is coming from...There is no burkha in the film, and people will be able to relate to thestory of the film. "You haven't watched the film, so watch it to judge it.Don't judge a book by its cover."His comment was a dig at "Lipstick Under My Burkha", which he had

refused to cer tify as he deemed it too "lady-oriented." While he hadissues with the word "intercourse" in a mini trailer of "Jab Harry MetSejal" and even demanded cuts in kissing scenes in films as theCBFC chief, the trailer of "Julie 2" he presents goes all out focussingon skin show. Reminded of that, Nihalani retor ted at the media meethere: "That was U/A (unrestricted public exhibition, subject to paren-tal guidance for children below the age of twelve). This is adult."
