The Government College Women University Fais-alabad was enacted in January 2013. It is a civic University committed through its variouse degree programmes to increase the accessiblity of femalestudents to University- level study and to meet the

educational needs of the society. The University is offering intermediate level classes in addition to BS, M.A, M.Sc, MS/M.Phil., PhD. level programmes. The University has highly skilled, experienced qualified faculty and having diversity in the area of expertise. The CityThe city Lyallpur was planned by British Government. It was renamed as Faisal-abad after the name of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia in 1977. Faisalabad is an in-ternational market of yarn and textile. The biggest industrial hub of Pakistan is situated in the province of the Punjab. The city is having population of more than seven million people. It has an international airport, industrial area, dry port, hospitals, educational institutions and a unique traditional touch from food to dressing. People are hospitable and city presents a blend of urban and rural life, where modernized ways of communication and transportation are available.

The InstitutionThe Government College Women University Faisalabad started its educational role as Government College for Women Lyallpur in 1934 and after a decade in 1944 it matured as Degree College; It shifted to its present building in 1985 and initiat-ed Post-graduate classes in the same year. It emerged as one of the leading female Post-graduate Colleges in Faisalabad. Keeping in view its immense educational growth rate on 3rd January 2013. It attained the status of First Women University of Faisalabad and was renamed as The Government College Women University Faisalabad by a historical initiative of the Chief Minister of the Punjab, Mian Mu-hammad Shahbaz Sharif. Prof. Dr. Naureen Aziz Qureshi took the charge as first Woman Vice Chancellor of Government College Women University Faisalabad.

Rules & RegulationsThe rules & regulations of this prestigious educational institution of Faisalabad are given below:1- The students shall attend the University regularly in proper uniform.2- On admission to the University, the student’s attendance in all the classes is compulsory.3- Application for leave will be submitted in the Incharge Intermediate of-fice; if the student is unable to attend the University. Medical certificate should be attached with the leave application in case of more than 3 days leave. This leave period will not be counted as present towards continue lecture shortage.4- Admission to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education will not be sent if the attendance of the student of intermediate classes in each subject is less than 75%.5- The students are not allowed to enter residential area or hostel during uni-versity hours.6- Wall chalking/display of posters on the walls of the University is prohibit-ed.7- Making noise outside the class rooms and adjacent corridors during study hours is prohibited; useless wandering within the University premises is against the rules of discipline of the University. During leisure time, student should be in the library or at the designated places.8- Plucking flowers and damaging the plants, spoiling the lawns, and other property is against the rules.9- If any student has complaint, she should inform the Director Students Af-fairs (DSA) or Incharge Discipline Committee. Student herself is not allowed to take any action.10- The students will wear their identity cards issued by the University.11- The students will not be allowed to come to the University wearing orna-ments and makeup.

12- Mobile cell phones and its use is strictly prohibited in the university premises. For non-compliance, confiscation of mobile phone, cancellation of admission and heavy fine can be imposed.13- The students can put their complaints, suggestions in the complaint box on plain paper with their name, roll number and class (Anonymous applications will not be en-tertained). 14- The students are not allowed to enter the offices without permission.15- The students are not allowed to leave the University before University time.16- The students are advised to cooperate for the better management of university discipline and to uphold the golden traditions of the University.

Heavy fine will be imposed on the students for non-compliance of the Rules & the University has the right to cancel the admission as well.

Admission Criteria1- Matriculate students having at least 45% marks are eligible to apply for the admission on open merit in first year (F.A/F.Sc./ICS/I.Com).2- Admission committee determines the merit of admissions and final ap-proval will be granted by the Vice Chancellor.3- The age limit for admission in first year will not be more than 18 years. Age relaxation of two years is permissible with the approval of the Vice Chancellor.4- The admission policy approved by the University will be implemented.5- The quota of FATA/FANA (1%), disable (2%) and sports (2%) admission in F.A./F.Sc..6- Prospectus with admission form can be downloaded from University web-site.7- The following attested documents should be attached with the admission form and the form filled in all respects may be submitted in Government College Women University Faisalabad on or before last date. a. Two photocopies of Result Card of Board/Examination body.b. Provisional Certificatec. Character Certificate from previous educational institution.d. Photocopy of Candidates CNIC or B.Form and Father/Guardian CNICe. Four passport size photographs with blue background.8- Admission committee, comprising the experienced teachers, will be con-stituted for all level of admissions. The students may take guidance from the Ad-mission Committee.9- After submitting the admission forms, the students should study the fee schedule carefully. In case the fee is not deposited as per schedule, the student shall not claim her right for admission.10- The student will get her original certificates checked by the admission com-mittee and after the verification of certificates, admission fee will be deposited.

11- The student will keep the receipt of admission fee in safe custody as roll number will only be issued on the verification of receipt.

12- Tuition fee will not be charged from Hafiz-e-Quran students however, the Hafiz-e-Quran certificate by Wafaq-ul-Madaris is necessary to be produced.13- The class sections of the students will not be changed in any case.14- The student will not apply for migration to any local college.15- The student taking Computer Science subject will have to pay extra fee.16- Re-admission is only allowed with the change of group.17- Students applying on sports and extracurricular quota seats must furnish the relevant certificate of participation at the Board level.18- Students applying on disabled seats must provide certificate of disability issued by Social Security Welfare Department.19- Separate form must be submitted for each quota.20- The candidates of Fine Arts and English Literature will have to pass the aptitude test.

Change of Subjects:

The student, who wants to change any subject already selected, can do so after depositing the requisite fee prescribed by the Board.1. The students of first year can change the subject within 14 days from the start of the classes.2. Late admission students do not have the right to change the subject.

1. After getting admission, the student is bound to attend all classes.2. The academic session will be counted from the date of admission to 15 days before the commencement of examination of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.3. It is compulsory for each student to attend at least 75% lectures of each subject and at least 75% practical, where applicable.4. The students who arrive late in classes will be marked absent and she will be fined Rs. 10/- per lecture while fine of Rs. 100/- per day will be charged from the absence in practical classes.5. Fine of Rs. 200/- per paper will be charged for remaining absent in the internal examination.6. The name of the student, who remains continuously absent for 5 days per week & 10 days per month, will be struck off from the University rolls. In such case, the student can apply for readmission within a month by paying admission fee Rs. 150 and fine Rs. 100. Readmission is allowed only once.7. The students can submit leave application in emergency cases. The name of the student, roll number, date and elective subjects should clearly be men-tioned on the application. The application submitted without the signature of Father/Guardian will be rejected. The leave period will not be counted as pres-ent towards calculation of lecture shortage.8. During internal examinations, the sick students will submit application with the Medical Certificate from the Government Hospital duly signed by the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital.

1- The scholarships are given to the deserving students through Univer-sity Student Financial Aid Office (SFAO).2- The deserving students will submit their applications to SFAO on the prescribed Performa (The detail of income of Father/Guardian must be men-tioned) that can be obtained from the office of SFAO.3- The application should be attested by the councillor/Representative of the locality.4- Scholarships will be granted on the basis of need, merit, good char-acter, punctuality and satisfactory performance of the students otherwise scholarship will be cancelled.5- Scholarship awardees are bound to pay dues and observe punctuality.

Procedure for Changing or Leaving the University- College:Any student who intends to leave the University will have to submit an appli-cation to the Incharge Intermediate dully attested by her parents/guardian. The student has to pay the university dues till the date of approval of application.As per Rules of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (B.I.S.E), if a student intends to leave or join from any other city, she has to produce solid rea-sons for that. Such a student will have to obtain the University Leaving Certifi-cate from the Incharge Intermediate Section after approval from the competent authority and an NOC from BISE.

The Intermediate examinations are conducted by the BISE, Faisalabad. The stu-dents are bound to appear in these examinations. The internal University Ex-aminations are conducted in December every year. The send up examinations are conducted in March. The student who passes all the papers is eligible for the Board Examination. On the performance of the students of Intermediate Part I & II, internal grades are determined, which are mentioned on the Admission Form by the University. The students obtaining “F” grade are not eligible to ap-pear in the Board Examinations. The Vice Chancellor has the right to withdraw the Admission Form from the Board 10 days before the commencement of ex-aminations on account of poor performance, non-payment of University dues or undisciplined character of the student.

The students, who stand first, second and third in the internal examination of the University, are awarded prizes in the Annual Prize Distribution Function. Moreover, the students obtaining first three positions in each subject are also awarded prizes and merit certificates for their encouragement.The students getting position in the Board are awarded the Gold Medals.

The importance of dissemination of knowledge and keeping up to date with the rest of the world is the need of the present day. Libraries play a vital role in attaining the educational goals and fulfilling the instructional needs of the programmes offered by universities. As they serve as a source of professional reference service and information to supplement class room and laboratory, learning, libraries also contribute to the teaching/learning environment of the academic departments. A library is supposed to be the nucleus of an academia. Government College Women University Faisalabad houses an excellent library with an extensive collection of valuable books. Every year new books are pur-chased and added to this treasure just to fulfill the requirements of the students.A number of monthly Magazines in Urdu and English and many weekly and daily newspapers are also available in the Library to keep the students aware of the current affairs. The students can get benefit from them.1- Every student has to get library card, bearing her photograph, to obtain the library books for study. Without library card, no book will be issued.

2- The procedure of getting library card, Rules & Regulations of the Library may be seen on the notice board outside the Library and on University/website.3- The Library is a treasure of knowledge, and it is expected that students will get full benefit from it and will avoid spoiling and tearing the books.

The Directorate of Students affairs establishes a liaison between students, faculty and University administration. It is an important component of university offers a platform for curricular and co-curricular activities to explore enlighten and polish the hidden capabilities of the students. Directorate of Student Affairs is committed to enable all students to participate in a healthy and active learning environment during their time at Government College Women University Faisalabad through a variety of societies and clubs.The whole team of Directorate of Students Affairs helps students navigate and reflect upon challengers and transitions, and empower them to become architects of their own learning and development. It also communicates the problems being faced by the students to help them with amicable solution. The Directorate of Stu-dents Affairs has two wings one vigilance committee, which deals with discipline and the other co-curricular societies, which deal with co-curricular activities on and outside the campus.

The University provides assistance and health services to the students, faculty, staff and employees. The main objective of the dispensary is to provide First-Aid facil-ity to the patients along with emergency ambulance service.

The university provides pick and drop facility to the students. For this purpose, four University busses serve on assigned routes covering different parts of the city. All rights of permission to avail this transport facility are reserved with the uni-versity and can be denied to any student. No student shall be entitled to claim this facility as a matter of right. Transport facility will be allocated on first come first serve basis. Routes and pick up points are indicated and are subject to change from time to time.
