Jesus said to His disciples, “Come follow Me.”
At Connect Church we endeavor to faithfully follow
Jesus Christ by actively studying God’s Word.
Our mission is to ‘Glorify God by leading others
to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.’
In order to accomplish this mission
we have developed a thorough discipleship plan
entitled University of Christian Life.
This design allows individuals to appraise
their spiritual journey as a disciple.
We encourage you to reflect upon your life in Christ.
Are you a follower of Jesus?
We invite you to consider joining us
as we grow closer to Him.
Our journey is with God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What does it mean to be a Disciple of Christ?
Preparing to Follow Christ
□ Accepted Christ as Your Personal Savior
Romans 3:23 - “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23 - “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 10:9-10 - “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’
and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you
will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness,
and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.”
Beginning to Follow Christ
□ Baptized by Full Immersion
We believe baptism is following
Jesus’ example, identifying with
His death, burial, and resurrection,
and expressing our belief to those
who don’t know Christ.

Learning to Follow Christ
Just as spending time with others helps us know one another better,
devoting time to be with Christ helps us know Him even greater.
Reading God’s Word, listening for His gentle leading
by the Holy Spirit, guides us to a deeper knowledge of our Savior.
How do we spend time in God’s Word?
The SOAP method for devotional journaling
is the approach we use for daily study.
SOAP is an acrostic for:
Scripture Reading - Observation - Application - Prayer
Scripture - Read the passage of Scripture for the day and allow God
to speak to you. Look for a verse that spoke to you. Write it down.
Observation - Write your observation as to what is happening in the
text. What do you believe is the point of the passage?
Application - Ask yourself how this Scripture applies to your life right
now. Write down how it can apply to you today.
Prayer - This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this
Scripture, or even a prayer for greater insight on what He may be
revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be
sure to listen to what God has to say!
We study the Scripture during a personal quiet time,
through group discussions, and within worship services.
You will find the Bible passages on the website,
as well as in the weekly Worship Folder.
