What we do: We are a countywide ‘one-stop-shop’ service which aims to give you access to the most up-to-date information about healthy lifestyle services.

The service provides a team of dedicated advisors who have the expertise to direct you towards the most relevant locally delivered health improvement services that will help you to achieve the changes you want to make. These services include stop smoking, weight management, chlamydia screening, and health trainers. Health trainers provide one-to-one advice and support for various lifestyle factors.

What we do:We are part of the ‘Transition Movement’ which addresses the challenges and opportunities posed by peak oil and climate change. We aim to engage local communities in positive steps towards a low carbon future. We have working groups focussed on food, energy, transport, waste and awareness. In June 2011 we organised the Vale First Local Food Festival, hopefully an annual event.

Who’s welcome: We meet for ‘Green Drinks’ on the first Tuesday of each month at the Trumpet, Evesham from 7.30pm and “Green Teas” at the Word of Mouth café most Fridays at 2.30pm. Anyone is welcome to join us.

What we do: We provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supports their families. Each year the hospice team supports over 2,300 patients and family members in Worcestershire. Patients are cared for in day hospice, the 16-bed in-patient unit or in their own homes by a specialist professional team as well as many trained volunteers.

We also have a number of charity shops in the area.

What we do:YMCA Worcester is a registered independent charity providing foyer and hostel accommodation for 74 residents who find themselves homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Qualified staff support residents by providing a safe and secure environment, help them to address their personal issues and encourage them to develop and build their own positive future. Our support services for residents embed positive behavior, promote motivation, raise horizons, and set targets to achieve goals, encourage contribution and personal development.

Our core services are: residential accommodation, learning and skills, participation in sports and activities. Key strategies that underpin our work include: skills for life - language, literacy and numeracy, advice and guidance and developing the personal asset base of residents through skills, resources and opportunities.

Who’s welcome:Anyone who find themselves homeless or at risk of homelessness.
