Directorate of Pulses Development, (Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare) Bhopal-462004 (MP) Summary-Field visit report for the period July- -2016 Division District Major Observations Indore Indore & Khargone 1. The SW Monsoon was delayed by one week and was activated on 21st June, 2016. The total seasonal rainfall (June, 1st to July 4th, 2016) as on date is 111.10 mm,24% less than the Division’s normal rainfall of 146.40 mm during the corresponding period. As per the data, 01 district fall under excess, 03 normal and 03under the deficit rainfall. 2. The divisions sowing of kharif crops is 15.28 lakh ha at the time of visit, out of which 6.52 lakh ha under soyabean fallowed by cotton 4.22 lakh ha & maize 2.35 lakh ha which is 78%, 85% & 68% of targeted area of soyabean, cotton & maize respectively. 3. Progress of sowing of kharif crop in visited district: Indore-1.96 lakh hasown under kharifcrops at the time of visit, out of which 1.92 lakh ha under soyabean which is 98% of kharif sowing. About 92% area sown against the target of soybean. For total pulses karif target is 0.023 Lakh ha and 0.014 Lakh ha achieved till the visit. Khargone 2.82 lakh hasown under kharif crops at the time of visit, out of which 1.76 lakh ha under cotton which is 62 % of kharif sown. About 83 % area sown against the target of cotton. As regards to total kharif pulses target of district is 0.031 Lakh ha out of which 0.015 Lakh ha achieved. 4. Wild animal menace in the visited districts Indore & Khargone of dominating forest viz. Mau Block of Indore & Maheshwar block of Khargone. 5. Inadequate availability of quality/certified seeds of pulses in the visited districts are likely to affect both, the NFSM and non-NFSM (conduct of cluster demonstration) beneficiaries. 6. Delayed and short supply of moong minikits by NAFED & also not mentioned name of scheme on kit and no literature available in the minikit as per guideline of minikit programme. 7. Seed Minikit of Urd has not been supplied in visited districts Indore & Khargone by N.S.C. 8. Division and District Officials not in position to provide the strategy to increase the area and production of pulses like Pulses on bund; Intercropping with pulses etc. however, it is observed in field during the visit farmers adopted intercropping of pulses with various crop like Maize, Cotton & Soybean etc. Also sown Pigeonpea in Dharwad system and used dibbler for direct sowing of Pigeonpea in field. 9. Visited district Indore and Khargone have adopted/promoted the improved method of planting i.e. Intercropping, ridge-furrow, BBF &Dibbler etc. 10. On the basis of visit and interaction with the farmers is it realized that this year pulses may increase about 10-20 % area diverted from soybean crop as visited district is dominated soybean crop 11. Most of the area under soybean covered by soybean (Var-JS 9560) in visited districts Indore and Khargone. 12. Farmers and officials of visited district informed that the

1. The SW Monsoon was delayed by one week and was activated on

implementing DBT in current kharif.

Gwalior

Gwalior,

Datia &

Shivpuri

1. The normal rainfall of Gwalior district is 751.2 mm as against

received 78.4 mm as on 04.07.2016.

2. The normal rainfall of Shivpuri district is 816..3 mm as against

received 136.3 mm as on 04.07.2016.

3. As per target, Cluster demonstration of Urd, Cropping system

based demonstration Pulses –Wheat, Inter cropping demonstration

have been less conducted, due to short supply of Seed in the

district of Shivpuri.

4. Cluster demonstration of Moong has not been conducted &

surrendered the demonstration, due to short supply of Seed in the

district of Shivpuri.

5. Seed Minikit of Urd has not been supplied in visited districts

Gwalior, Datia & Shivpuri by N.S.C..

6. Seed Minikit of Moong has been supplied in visited districts

Gwalior, Shivpuri and Minikit of Moong has not been supplied in

the district of Datia by NAFED.

7. Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme has been implemented for cluster

demonstrations under N.F.S.M..

8. Area of 100 ha under crop has been notified at Patwari Halka &

area of 500 ha under crop has been notified at Tehsil level under

Pradhanmantri Crop Insurance Yojna in M.P. So that Pulses crop

has not been notified in the district of Gwalior . Farmers can not

avail the benefit of the Scheme. However, reduced the area of the

crop i.e. 25 ha & 100 ha at Patwari halka & Tehsil level

respectively to cover the pulses crops under Pradhanmantri Crop

Insurance Yojna

Sagar Sagar and

Damoh

1. Sowing is in progress as the rainfall received in the villages/blocks.

The normal rainfall of the district Sagar is 1230.60 mm and Damoh

1246.60 mm. As on 30.06.2016, districts have received 8% and 4%

of total rains.

2. Total area coverage is 5% in Sagar district however, no coverage

have been reported in the district of Damoh as on date. Deficient

rainfall may be attributed for less area coverage in the district.

3. Seed minikits of moong (TJM-3) distribution is in progress in

Damoh district, however, supply of seed minikits of urd are

awaited in the district of Sagar and Damoh.

4. As per Ministry’s instruction & guidelines, minikits supplying

agency (NAFED) do not mentioned the name of scheme i.e.

NFSM-Pulses over begs, leaflets and seed treatment material in the

packets.

5. Seed Minikit of Urd has not been supplied in visited districts

Indore & Khargone by N.S.C..

6. More area in the way of intercropping/sole cropping/Mixed

cropping/rice bunds with pulses are allocated by the famers in

Sagar district. Crop was in branching stage seen in very good

condition.

7. There is no any shortage of inputs i.e. Urea, DAP, MOP and seed

and planting materials as reported by the Deputy Director

Agriculture of the district.

8. Kharif pulses target of cluster FLDs in KVK-Sagar is 80 ha

comprising of tur 30 ha, urd 30 ha and moong 20 ha district. Total

Cluster FLDs target in KVK Damoh is 40 ha (each of 20 ha urd

and moong).

9. Varietiy Tur (TJT-501), Urd (Shekhar-3 & Azad-3), Moong (PDM-

139) and soybean (JS-9560) has been supplied to the benificiaery

farmers under Cluster FLDs by the KVK Sagar and Damoh.

1. JDA, Shahdol informed that the Seed minikits of pulses not

received yet, only soybean minikit received .Planning for pulses

production by 1. Increasing plant protection measure. 2. By

adopting and extension of SPI method ( Dharwad method) 3. Area

expansion by fallow land and rice diversification. 4. By replacing

existing varieties (Asha, and other local varieties) from new

improved variety (TJT -501).

2. DDA Shahdol informed 47 Thousand ha diversification (22

thousand from upland rice and 25 thousand fallow land ).Out of 47

thousand ha area diversification 70 % area comes under in pulses.

In Shahdol district 2 soil testing lab (1 at Krishi upaj mandi and 1

at K.V.K. , Shahdol). No processing unit for pulses at Shahdol.

3. Visited block – Sohagpur –in Panchgaon village 2 SPI nursery

visited of 2 Non beneficiary farmer ( only technical guidance

provided by SDA), they prepared two type of seedling ( two date

of sowing ) for planting in SPI , just for planting management

4. Wild animal problem and poor quality chemical (Trizophos) supply

in last year.

5. One community rice nursery under RKVY ( Var – Hybrid rice

KPH 199) visited which was not properly maintain

1. Jabalpur division have adopted the improved methods for

additional area coverage and productivity enhancement for

increasing pulses production like Intercropping with

sugarcane/maize, planting of pulses on rice bunds & using Dibbler

etc

2. At Jabalpur visit non beneficiary plot of soybean Var- American

Gipsi DOS- 01.07.2016 Maturity- 110 days Charac.- Highly Resist.

Rewa Rewa and

Satna

1. KVK Rewa allotment has been received for FLD of Greengram

and Pigeonpea. Area for Greengram -40 ha. & for Pigeonpea – 40

ha and target achieved in both crop. Moong Var. PDM 139 seed

rate 04 kg per acre on ridge furrow and Pigeonpea Var. Rajiv

lochan 04 kg per acre for dibbling method

2. GPS based Soil testing has been done for field of Cluster

demonstration KVK Rewa district.
