LOG LINE
When a selfish man impregnates a demonic woman, he soon realizes his fate is tied to the baby and must
decide whether to save or sacrifice it.
SYNOPSIS
The story opens on a demonic woman, Alessa, who seduces a drunken man at a cabin and murders him when he fails to impregnate her. In the city, we follow Chris, who invites his new date, Rachel, on a weekend getaway to secretly avoid his pregnant ex-girlfriend. During a hiking retreat they meet a mystic tour guide named Maddox, who lures Chris and Rachel to the same cabin the man was murdered in.
When Rachel discovers Chris still receives calls from an ex-girlfriend, she shuts him out. Chris enters the forest drunk and ends up sleeping with Alessa, whom he mistakes for Rachel. To his shock, Alessa claims she’s pregnant, which angers her Demon Mother, who secretly resides in the cabin. She kidnaps Rachel and threatens to kill her unless Chris captures Alessa before she gives birth within 24 hours.
When Chris asks Maddox for help, it turns out he holds more secrets than he led on as he fights to protect Alessa and her Demon Mother. Chris captures Alessa, but fails to bring her back in time when the demonic baby crawls out. What’s worse, Chris learns that he shares a paternal bond so strong that if the baby dies, he dies too. In the end, Chris must find a way to defeat the Demon Mother, rescue Rachel, and determine whether to save or sacrifice his demonic baby.
THEME AND CONFLICT
This film deals with the theme of selfishness vs. sacrifice. The main character must decide if it’s worth saving the demonic woman who carries his half human, half demonic fetus. He receives added pressure from the fact that she will give birth in just 24 hours after conception.
CHARACTERS
CHRIS
Our main character Chris, is a womanizer who simply hasn't grown up. Whenever he impregnates a woman, he ensures she aborts the child by bribing her to have the procedure done. He meets his match when he encounters a demonic woman who seduces him and becomes pregnant. As a result, he’s forced to confront the demons of his past while fighting to stop the birth of the demonic child.
RACHEL
As a casual love interest, Rachel doesn’t believe Chris is relationship material and challenges him to take her on a weekend getaway. However, when she discovers that Chris isn’t over his ex, she ends all chances of continuing their relationship. To make matters worse, finds Chris sleeping with a demonic woman whom he impregnates and becomes kidnapped as leverage to prevent the baby’s birth.
ALESSA
A d e m o n i c w o m a n w h o’s desperate to become pregnant in order to transform into a human and escape control of her Demon Mother. She manages to seduce Chris and when she becomes pregnant, tries to convince him to accept both her and the child.
OLD MAN MADDOX
A mystical tour guide who leads travelers on a hike to share legends of a demonic woman who seduces men. When he learns that his demonic daughter, Alessa, becomes pregnant after sleeping with Chris, he fights to protect her and the baby from both him and the Demon Mother he once loved.
OFFICER MALLORY
Harasses Chris and Rachel upon their arrival due to the high number of disappearances in the forest. Skeptical of any supernatural forces at work, his attempt to arrest Chris for breaking into Maddox’s cabin leads him to an untimely death.
PERFORMANCES
My directing process involves inviting actors to take ownership of their characters in order to create genuine performances. I involve them in full cast rehearsals, build shot sequences around their blocking choices, and even allow them to rewrite dialogue to fit their way of speaking. In the past, this collaborative approach led to my actors winning 12 Best Actor Awards.
CINEMATOGRAPHY
The film’s look will contrast the cool frigid terror of the wilderness with the warmth of civilization and family. Using large format lenses to feature the unsettling expanse of the rugged landscape, the cinematography will create a foreboding tone that reflects the inner turmoil of Chris’s psyche. The palette will be lush with color and contrast, embracing shadow whenever possible.
EDITING
The pace of the film will adjust to support the dramatic tension according to how the actors perform. Rather than an evenly paced story from beginning to end, each scene will carry its own pace to disrupt the flow and keep audiences on their toes.
SET DESIGN
The overall design will accentuate the characters in a remote location, far from the comfort and protection of civilization. This otherworldly feel would give the sense of vulnerability in an unprotected environment.
music
Creepy and exciting are what best convey the style of music that will accompany the haunting imagery. As a combined genre of thriller/horror, the original music will accentuate the mood of every scene without overpowering it.
