Chapter 2 The Magi Visit the Messiah: Who: King Herod, Magi-wise men and Jesus Where: Bethlehem What: • Jesus was born and a star appeared to the Magi so they came to look for Jesus • Magi get to King Herod first and tell him they are looking for King of the Jews • King Herod was disturbed about another King and he checked with all his people • They verified the Magi’s story • Herod ask Magi to come back and let him know where he is • Magi went Bethlehem and find Jesus • Magi worship Jesus and give him 3 gifts • Warned in a dream to not go back and tell Herod, so they go home a different route

The Escape of Egypt:
Who: Joseph, Herod, Angel of the Lord, Mary and Jesus

What:
• Angel appears to Joseph and warns him that Herod was going to kill Jesus so the needed to
flee to Egypt.
• Joseph wakes up and leaves with Jesus and Mary for Egypt
• They stay in Egypt until King Herod dies
• King Herod searches for Jesus and orders that all boys two or under are to be killed
• A whole generation is wiped out and Israel is hurting
The Return to Nazareth:
Who: Joseph, Herod, Archelaus, Angel of the Lord, Mary and Jesus
Where: Egypt to Galilee-Nazareth
What:
• Joseph in Egypt with the family when an Angel appears and tells him to go back Israel, King
Herod is dead
• Joseph packs everything up and goes back to Israel
• But Archelaus the son of Herod was there, and Joseph was afraid, so he went to Galilee
instead of Bethlehem.
• They settled in Nazareth which fulfilled prophesies
