Crossroads Community
Hospital has begun work
on a $3.4 million surgery
department expansion. A
groundbreaking for the
project was held on Febru-
ary 12, 2009. The expan-
sion is scheduled to open
by the rst quarter of
2010.
The 2000-square-foot
addition will include two
new surgical suites, two
non-sterile equipment
rooms, one sterile sup-
ply room, a sterile central
area, decontamination
room, four additional re-
covery bays and two out-
patient same-day surgery
rooms. The project also
includes a renovation of
the existing nourishment
stations and preadmission
reception area.
Crossroads surgery
expansion is a much-an-
ticipated event that brings
much-needed space and
new amenities for our pa-
tients, declared CNO
Beth Horton. The addi-
tional space in our Surgi-
cal Services Department
will allow us to better
serve our community and
better support the physi-
cians who practice here.
The additional surgical
suites will enable us to bet-
ter accommodate current
and new surgeons, as well
as schedule more surger-
ies simultaneously, which
means more timely service
for our patients, too..
Due to the number
of talented surgeons on
our staff and several
new physicians who have
joined our hospital a
larger surgery department
with the latest technology
and amenities is absolutely
necessary to our hospitals
continued growth and vi-
ability as a leading ser-
vice provider in our com-
munity, said CFO Brian
Schneider. A robust and
modern surgery depart-
ment will continue to sup-
port hospital operations
and our ability to recruit
leading medical talent to
our community.
The addition also means
new jobs for the communi-
ty, Schneider added. Seven
new medical positions will
be added to support the
expanded surgery depart-
ment, with potential for
more positions to come
online in the future.
Our patients enjoy the
convenience of having ac-
cess to top medical talent
and surgical procedures,
right here in their home-
town eliminating the need
to travel not only for the
procedure but for the pre-
and post-op visits said
CEO Ed Cunningham.
Crossroads is growing
because of the support
of the community and in
turn, we will invest in our
community.
