1 in 4 law students cannot get a job as a lawyer Not every LLB student actually WANTS to practice law.

Historically, around 50% of LLB students have opted to undertake the Diploma in Legal Practice.

Trainees are being sacked Recently obtained legal opinion from Ian Mitchell QC stated that trainee ‘redundancies’ are ‘unlawful’.

There are no traineeships for Diploma graduates The Law Society of Scotland registered 592 traineeships in 2008.

This was a greater number than registered in 2004, 2005 2006.

The Law Society of Scotland estimates that the number of trainees registered at this point for 2009 will be around 75%

of the 2008 figure.
