Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time January 31 2021

Last year in the month of March when the Corona Virus forced our response of social distancing and quarantine I would have never imagined that we would have to begin the New Year with the same restrictions It is difficult to believe that within a month and a half we will have done this for a full year How much longer will this last We donrsquot know exactly Yes the vaccine is being distributed and the medical experts believe it will be effective But we still do not know when the governor and our bishop will permit us to return to a gathering of full participation with no restrictions of a limited number of participants With that being said many have already voiced their concern about the large gathering of our Family Fair and the possibility of becoming a hot spot of contagion Some have stated that while the vaccine will have been distributed to many people not everyone will have been vaccinated and so therefore will there still be a fear in the people to come and be a part of the large gathering

With all things considered as your pastor I have decided to cancel the Family Fair of 2021 on the side of caution in order to do our part in the prevention of the spread of the virus

Some parishioners may have a concern in the area of the finances of the parish since our annual Family Fair is a major fundraiser First of all we need to trust God that he will provide what is needed in order for us to be the community he wants of us And second of all while this past year has affected our finances parishioners and other donors have been responding well and so we would not be dependent on the funds generated by the Family Fair in order to meet this coming yearrsquos budget which begins on the first of July However I would encourage every organization and ministry to creatively think of small fundraisers to help offset the deficit that will be created without the large gathering of the Family Fair The funds generated will be deposited in the Family Fair account

With this decision we are at a disadvantage in selling the raffle tickets because we will not have the Family Fair weekend with the large crowds on the parish grounds Therefore selling the raffle tickets becomes of the utmost importance I am asking each family of the parish to sell or buy at least three books of tickets If you can sell more please do so We will keep you updated on the progress of the selling

We will also be offering our Annual Parish T-Shirt for purchase to help the Family Fair account (More information will follow in next weeks bulletin)

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and may God continue to bless our Parish and Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe

El antildeo pasado en el mes de marzo cuando el Corona Virus forzoacute nuestra respuesta de distanciamiento social y cuarentena nunca hubiera imaginado que tendriacuteamos que comenzar el Antildeo Nuevo con las mismas restricciones Es difiacutecil creer que dentro de un mes y medio lo habremos hecho durante un antildeo completo iquestCuaacutento maacutes duraraacute esto No lo sabemos exactamente Siacute la vacuna se estaacute distribuyendo y los expertos meacutedicos creen que seraacute eficaz Pero auacuten no sabemos cuaacutendo el gobernador y nuestro obispo nos permitiraacuten regresar a una reunioacuten de plena participacioacuten sin restricciones de un nuacutemero limitado de participantes Dicho esto muchos ya han expresado su preocupacioacuten por la gran reunioacuten de nuestro Festival Familiar y la posibilidad de convertirse en un foco de contagio Algunos han dicho que si bien la vacuna se habraacute distribuido a muchas personas no todos se habraacuten vacunado y por lo tanto iquestseguiraacute existiendo el temor de que la gente venga y sea parte de la gran reunioacuten

Con todo lo considerado como su pastor he decidido cancelar el Festival Familiar de 2021 por el lado de la precaucioacuten para hacer nuestra parte en la prevencioacuten de la propagacioacuten del virus

Algunos feligreses pueden tener una preocupacioacuten en el aacuterea de las finanzas de la parroquia ya que nuestro Festival Familiar anual es una importante recaudacioacuten de fondos En primer lugar debemos confiar en que Dios proporcionaraacute lo que se necesita para que seamos la comunidad que eacutel quiere de nosotros Y en segundo lugar si bien el antildeo pasado ha afectado nuestras finanzas los feligreses y otros donantes han estado respondiendo bien por lo que no dependeriacuteamos de los fondos generados por el Festival Familiar para cumplir con el presupuesto del proacuteximo antildeo que comienza el primero de julio Sin embargo animariacutea a todas las organizaciones y ministerios a pensar de manera creativa en pequentildeos eventos para recaudar fondos para ayudar a compensar el deacuteficit que se crearaacute sin la gran reunioacuten del Festival Familiar Los fondos generados se depositaraacuten en la cuenta del Festival Familiar

Con esta decisioacuten estamos en desventaja al vender los boletos de la rifa porque no tendremos el fin de semana del Festival Familiar con las grandes multitudes en los terrenos de la parroquia Por lo tanto vender los boletos de la rifa se vuelve de suma importancia Le pido a cada familia de la parroquia que venda o compre al menos tres libros de boletos Si puede vender maacutes iexclhaacutegalo Lo mantendremos informado sobre el progreso de la venta

Tambieacuten estaremos ofreciendo nuestra camiseta parroquial anual para la compra para ayudar a la cuenta del Festival Familiar (Habraacute maacutes informacioacuten en el boletiacuten de la proacutexima semana)

Believe it or not as we begin a new month on February the 17th we will begin the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday I am including this announcement this weekend because there will be a major change in the manner in which we distribute the ashes Because of the risk of spreading disease during the coronavirus pandemic we have been instructed that the minister is not to touch the recipient In other words we will not be tracing a cross on the forehead of each individual as is the tradition Instead we will follow the ancient practice found in Rome and in a number of countries where ashes are sprinkled on the top of the head Please continue to pray for the vaccine to take effect and move us beyond the precautions we must take during this time More information will follow as to when and where the MassesServices will be held

My devotion to Mother Mary started slow by now I have accepted that I am a late bloomer in a lot of things but when itrsquos time God sure has a way of letting me know For example my relationship with Mother Mary I didnrsquot have one I am a cradle catholic who stopped practicing my catholic faith I began my conversion in the year 2013 I was 40 years old when I first learned to pray the rosary Before I would just hold the beads feeling embarrassed I didnrsquot know how so when I learned I was so elated but still didnrsquot understand where does Mary come in The more I loved Jesus the more Jesus was drawing me to Mary I picked up my rosary and began to pray the rosary not daily but I knew I wanted to develop good spiritual habits I had plenty of times where the body mind and spirit were not willing and I know that it was the Lord keeping or saving my devotion to Mother Mary for this certain part of my life Our daddy passed away on May 22 2019 before our daddy went to his eternal home I had to make tough decisions that my siblingsmom were having a difficult time with I mean who wouldnrsquot but I had to remain focused and trust God I was meditating on the sorrowful mysteries and I saw my daddy on the cross in all his sufferings like Jesus I would keep telling myself just a little bit longer and daddy will be home I went into my ldquoministry moderdquo and began to prepare our daddys soul for eternal home Mother Mary was my strength in my faith the Holy Spirit was my guide and Jesus was my comforter I held on to my rosary and I was able to hold on to my joy during a time of desolation My rosary story doesnrsquot end here Mother Mary keeps interceding for me and I hear often ldquoDo whatever my Son tells yourdquo This is how this Ave Maria Devotion was born so pick up your rosary and entrust yourself into Mother Maryrsquos hands our most powerful advocate ldquoMy soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord my spirit rejoices in God my Saviorrdquo Luke 146-47 Through Mary to Jesus

Mi devocioacuten a Mariacutea comenzoacute lentamente a estas alturas he aceptado que llego un poco tarde en muchas cosas pero cuando llega el momento Dios seguro tiene una manera de haceacutermelo saber Por ejemplo en mi relacioacuten con Mariacutea no teniacutea una soy una catoacutelica desde nintildea que dejeacute de practicar mi fe catoacutelica Comenceacute mi conversioacuten en el antildeo 2013 teniacutea 40 antildeos cuando aprendiacute por primera vez a rezar el rosario Antes nada maacutes tenia las cuentas en mi mano sintieacutendome avergonzado de no saber coacutemo asiacute que cuando aprendiacute me sentiacute tan eufoacuterica pero todaviacutea no entienda iquestDoacutende entraba Mariacutea Cuanto maacutes amaba a Jesuacutes maacutes me atraiacutea Jesuacutes hacia Mariacutea Tome mi rosario y comenceacute a rezar el rosario no todos los diacuteas pero sabiacutea que queriacutea desarrollar buenos haacutebitos espirituales Tuve muchas ocasiones en las que el cuerpo la mente y el espiacuteritu no estaban dispuestos y seacute que fue el Sentildeor guardando mi devocioacuten a Mariacutea para esta etapa de mi vida Nuestro papaacute fallecioacute el 22 de mayo de 2019 antes de que nuestro papaacute se fuera a su eterno descanso tuve que tomar decisiones difiacuteciles que en esos momentos eran difiacuteciles para mis hermanosmamaacute quiero decir quieacuten no pero tuve que permanecer concentrada y confiar en Dios Estaba meditando en los misterios dolorosos y vi a mi papaacute en la cruz en todos sus sufrimientos como Jesuacutes Seguiacutea dicieacutendome a miacute mismo solo un poco maacutes y papaacute estaraacute en descansando Entreacute en ldquomodo ministeriordquo y comenceacute a preparar el alma de nuestro papaacute para su eterno descanso Mariacutea fue mi fuerza en mi fe el Espiacuteritu Santo fue mi guiacutea y Jesuacutes fue mi consolador Me aferreacute a mi rosario y pude aferrarme a mi alegriacutea durante un tiempo de desolacioacuten La historia de mi rosario no termina aquiacute Mariacutea sigue intercediendo por miacute y a menudo escucho Haz lo que mi Hijo te diga Asiacute es como nacioacute Devociones a Ave Mariacutea entonces toma tu rosario y entreacutegate a las manos de Mariacutea nuestra maacutes poderosa abogada ldquoMi alma proclama la grandeza del Sentildeor mi espiacuteritu se regocija en Dios mi Salvadorrdquo Lucas 1 46-47 A traveacutes de Mariacutea a Jesuacutes

Believe it or not as we begin a new month on February the 17th we will begin the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday I am including this announcement this weekend because there will be a major change in the manner in which we distribute the ashes Because of the risk of spreading disease during the coronavirus pandemic we have been instructed that the minister is not to touch the recipient In other words we will not be tracing a cross on the forehead of each individual as is the tradition Instead we will follow the ancient practice found in Rome and in a number of countries where ashes are sprinkled on the top of the head Please continue to pray for the vaccine to take effect and move us beyond the precautions we must take during this time More information will follow as to when and where the MassesServices will be held

Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time January 31 2021

My devotion to Mother Mary started slow by now I have accepted that I am a late bloomer in a lot of things but when itrsquos time God sure has a way of letting me know For example my relationship with Mother Mary I didnrsquot have one I am a cradle catholic who stopped practicing my catholic faith I began my conversion in the year 2013 I was 40 years old when I first learned to pray the rosary Before I would just hold the beads feeling embarrassed I didnrsquot know how so when I learned I was so elated but still didnrsquot understand where does Mary come in The more I loved Jesus the more Jesus was drawing me to Mary I picked up my rosary and began to pray the rosary not daily but I knew I wanted to develop good spiritual habits I had plenty of times where the body mind and spirit were not willing and I know that it was the Lord keeping or saving my devotion to Mother Mary for this certain part of my life Our daddy passed away on May 22 2019 before our daddy went to his eternal home I had to make tough decisions that my siblingsmom were having a difficult time with I mean who wouldnrsquot but I had to remain focused and trust God I was meditating on the sorrowful mysteries and I saw my daddy on the cross in all his sufferings like Jesus I would keep telling myself just a little bit longer and daddy will be home I went into my ldquoministry moderdquo and began to prepare our daddys soul for eternal home Mother Mary was my strength in my faith the Holy Spirit was my guide and Jesus was my comforter I held on to my rosary and I was able to hold on to my joy during a time of desolation My rosary story doesnrsquot end here Mother Mary keeps interceding for me and I hear often ldquoDo whatever my Son tells yourdquo This is how this Ave Maria Devotion was born so pick up your rosary and entrust yourself into Mother Maryrsquos hands our most powerful advocate ldquoMy soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord my spirit rejoices in God my Saviorrdquo Luke 146-47 Through Mary to Jesus
