CONGREGATIO PRO CLERICIS: Response to petitions on the
Closure of St. Winefride's Church: '..It appears that there may still
be some confusion as to the status of the former parish church of St
Winefride, so perhaps I could assist by clarifying the status of the
building. It was reduced to secular but not unbecoming use (cf.can.
1222:1) by a decree of the Diocesan Bishop on 6 November 2012. As
such, it lost its dedication (cf.can.1212) and ceased to be a sacred
building intended for divine worship (cf.can.1214). An hierarchical
recourse against that decree was rejected by this Congregation on 20th
April, 2013. I do appreciate that has been a painful decision, but the
question is settled and will not be reopened. Since November 2012, therefore, there has been no parish church in the
parish of St Winefride. Having received your correspondence, this
Dicastery was concerned to ascertain what steps are currently being taken
to resolve this situation. The Diocesan Bishop has now fully explained his
proposals to provide a parish church by the end of the year, and I can
confirm that this Congregation is satisfied with those proposals....'
Most Rev. Joel Mercer, Secretary
THE VERDICT FROM ROME: Whether as individuals we agree with the
decision from Rome, it is important for our spiritual life, as a church,
that we collectively accept the decision which has been made in
Rome as an expression of our obedience In Christ to the universal
church. Let us continue to pray as we surrender ourselves more and
more to Christ, that he will draw us ever closer to himself.
SOCIETY OF VINCENT DE PAUL (SVP)... CAROL SERVICE 2016: The SVP are organising a Carol Service
fund raiser to be held in St Padarn’s School Hall on Friday 9th December at 7:00pm. On the night
there will be a selection of well-known Carols, a raffle with some festive prizes and various
refreshments including mulled wine, mince pies and other traditional foods for this time of year. All
proceeds will go to the work of the SVP in Sudan (including South Sudan) which continues to assist
with baby feeding projects, purchasing of medical supplies and providing safe clean water to those in need. You will not need a ticket for the event, but if you are able to, please make a donation to this
worthy cause.
THE JUBILEE STOREHOUSE FOOD BANK box for donated goods is located at the back of the school hall. To find

Season of Advent & Christmas in a Christian Way… Let us keep this important information regarding
Christmas: 1. Please do not use the term 'season's greetings' during Christmas. This term is promoted by
people who do not want to take the Name of "Christ". We as Christians should not hesitate to say
"Christ"mas season. 2. It is wrong to use the term 'X'mas. 'X' means unknown in mathematical terminology. But we
as Christians know that it's the birthday of our Saviour Jesus Christ. We know him. He is not unknown to us. So
kindly use the term "Christ"mas as the appropriate word. 3. Let us not use the image of Santa Claus to greet on
Christmas. Christmas is birthday of Jesus not of Santa. This is used for the commercial benefits by
Non-Christians. As Christians let's not send greetings with Santa’s image. Instead, let’s send the image of baby Jesus
in the Crib or Baby Jesus with Joseph and Mary. Let’s celebrate realising the meaning and purpose of Christmas..!
QUIET PRAYER times… ABERYSTWYTH: Rosary: 11am Thursday.
