FIRST FRIDAYS

Every First Friday of the month we will have 8:30 a.m. Mass and adoration to follow until 6:30 p.m. with Solemn Blessing of the Blessed Sacrament and Pro-Life Mass followed by the Rosary. This Mass will give the faithful a chance to receive commun-ion at either Mass in order to observe this devotion. The other Fridays of the month we will extend the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 7:00 p.m. Reminder!!! The Rosary will be prayed every First Weekend of the month, 25 minutes before Mass. If you are interested in praying the Rosary, please contact Mary Lane at 440-0419

Eucharistic Adoration: We are all called to be Holy. As we have learned in the Rediscovering Catholicism book, holy is not a limiting thing. Rather, holy is a pure freedom to be best-version-of-our selves. This is something that we can only be with the help of God's grace. The Saints and our Holy Father, Pope Francis show us that that adoration of the Blessed Sacrament can be instrumental in helping us keep Jesus in the center of our lives. Adoration every Fri. 9am to 7pm.

In honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Fr. Francisco and Fr. Taylor, will conduct our annual pet blessing on Sun-day October 6th, at 2:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the par-

ish office. Please make sure all dogs are on a leash, and other pets are caged.

St. Francis’ devotion to God was expressed through his love for all of God’s creation. St. Francis cared for the poor

and sick, he preached sermons to animals, and praised all creatures as brothers and sisters under God. St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and ecology, was

born in Italy around 1181 or 1182.

Scripture Insights “The just one, because of his faith, shall live,” says the prophet Habakkuk some six hundred years before Jesus’ birth. These words are taken up by St. Paul in his thesis, “In the gospel is re-vealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith, as it is writ-ten, “ The one who is righteous by faith will live” (Romans 1:17). The prophet cried out to God to intervene to help his people in their desperation. His cry expresses his faith that God cares for his people and will respond. Today’s readings offers a deeper insight into the nature of Chris-tian faith. In Paul’ Letter to Timothy, the Apostle encourages his disciple to “stir into flame the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands.” Timothy has been entrusted with protecting the faith of his community. Paul reminds him of the gift of the Spirit he received that brings with it a gift of boldness that provides strength to overcome obstacles. In the Gospel, when the Apostles tell the Lord, “increase our faith,” they are not asking for the content of their faith to be in-creased but for the quality of their faith to be enhanced. In other words, the faith they refer to is their relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus and the disciples are concerned with the depth of their faith relationship. It is not the quantity of faith that is signif-icant but the quality of the relationship with Christ. After all, as Jesus said, faith the size of a mustard seed could move a tree. Genuine faith, the depth of our genuine relationship with Christ, enables us to perform the impossible. What does the word “faith” mean to you? Why is the quality of faith more important that the quantity? How have you experienced the power of faith at work in your life.

Esa “fe” no impresiona.
