Herbivores’ teeth were often blunt and flat to help them crush and

grind down plants.

Page 6: DINOSAURS - files.schudio.com · DINOSAURS! Challenge yourself to complete a few questions from each section every week. There are some activities on the next few pages to help you,

Apatosaurus had long, thin teeth to help them rake through grass.

Page 7: DINOSAURS - files.schudio.com · DINOSAURS! Challenge yourself to complete a few questions from each section every week. There are some activities on the next few pages to help you,

Triceratops had teeth that helped them to chew up food.

They might have eaten

plants like small

palm trees.

Page 8: DINOSAURS - files.schudio.com · DINOSAURS! Challenge yourself to complete a few questions from each section every week. There are some activities on the next few pages to help you,

Diplodocus mostly ate leaves. They didn’t have any teeth in the back of their mouth

for chewing. Scientists think that they swallowed stones to help grind up

their food.

Carnivores had teeth that were sharp like knives so that they could cut

through meat.

Page 11: DINOSAURS - files.schudio.com · DINOSAURS! Challenge yourself to complete a few questions from each section every week. There are some activities on the next few pages to help you,

Land living carnivores had strong, long legs so that they could move

quickly to catch their prey.

Herbivores were slower as their food gave them

less energy.

Smaller meat eaters, like these clever velociraptors, hunted in packs. Or

ate the meat that other larger dinosaurs left behind.

What Is a Dinosaur?Dinosaurs were one of several kinds of prehistoric reptiles that lived during the Mesozoic Era, the “Age of Reptiles”. They lived millions of years ago, before people.

Page 18: DINOSAURS - files.schudio.com · DINOSAURS! Challenge yourself to complete a few questions from each section every week. There are some activities on the next few pages to help you,

What Is a Dinosaur? We can’t be sure how the dinosaurs sounded, how they behaved, how they mated or what colour and pattern they were.

Page 19: DINOSAURS - files.schudio.com · DINOSAURS! Challenge yourself to complete a few questions from each section every week. There are some activities on the next few pages to help you,

There were lots of different kinds of dinosaurs thatlived at different times.

• Some walked on two legs and some on four. Some could do both

• Some were speedy and some were slow and lumbering.

• Some had thick, bumpy skin. Some even had feathers.

• Some were armour plated, some had horns, crests, spikes or frills to

defend themselves.

Page 20: DINOSAURS - files.schudio.com · DINOSAURS! Challenge yourself to complete a few questions from each section every week. There are some activities on the next few pages to help you,

Most dinosaurs were plant-eaters. These are called herbivores.

Some dinosaurs were meat-eaters. These are called carnivores.

Page 21: DINOSAURS - files.schudio.com · DINOSAURS! Challenge yourself to complete a few questions from each section every week. There are some activities on the next few pages to help you,

Most dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago, probably because of an asteroid that hit the earth. This would have made a big change to the climate, and the dinosaurs couldn’t adapt.
