Dinosaurs and the Bible

Where do dinosaurs fit in the Bible?

The Bible says God made everything in

six days (Exodus 20:11) and that sea

and land animals are created days 5 & 6

Dinosaurs are sea and land animals

Dinosaurs would have been created, and after day six (Adam & Eve) God

says everything is “very good”

Man and dinosaur exist

together according to

the Bible

The First Words in land before time: “Millions and Millions of

Years Ago…”

But is that true? Or does science and history support the Biblical position?

But! A lot of people don’t agree

History of Dinosaurs

The word “dinosaur” is a new word

Many “modern” words are older than it

“Computer” “Locomotive”

“Rocket”

All these words were around and used in an 1828 dictionary

The word “Dinosaur” was added to the dictionary in 1841 after the first

fossil discovery was made

This means if they existed throughout history, they’d have to be called

something else

Dragons

We have all heard of dragons in fictional stories, but reality?

There is overwhelming historical evidence that dragons were real

creatures, and when examined they match the description of dinosaurs

Pictures of dragons on the ancient walls of Babylon

Why would the

Babylonians know what

dragons (Dinosaurs)

look like It looks like a reptile

Alexander the Great

In India we have reports from 330 BC from Alexander the Great and his men

seeing Dragons. They were worshipped as God’s by the locals

The Greeks have other legends

The Nile mosaic of Palestrina is a late Hellenistic floor mosaic depicting

the Nile in its passage from Ethiopia to the Mediterranean.

The dating of the Mosaic (Not by Creationists) puts it around 100 B.C.

Let’s see if you notice anything on it:

The Legend of Beowulf

Beowulf lived from 495–583 AD. He killed

a terrestrial dragon called a grendel. He died from wounds

received while fighting a flying

reptile

Sauropod PetroglyphHavasupai Canyon in Arizona

Why are they drawing

dinosaurs along with other real animals?

Angkor Wat in Cambodia12th century

Daniel 14:23-27: “here was a great dragon which the Babylonians

worshipped too. The king said to Daniel, 'Are you going to tell me that

this is made of bronze? Look, it is alive; it eats and drinks…

The Apocrypha contains two extra chapters in Daniel, and in chapter 14

there is a story of a dragon

you cannot deny that this is a living god; worship it, then.‘ Daniel replied, 'I will worship the Lord my God; he is the living God. With your permission,

Your Majesty, without using either sword or club, I shall kill this dragon.‘

'You have my permission,' said the king. Whereupon, Daniel took some

pitch, some fat and some hair…

and boiled them up together, rolled the mixture into balls and fed them

to the dragon; the dragon swallowed them and burst. Daniel said, 'Now

look at the sort of thing you worship!‘”

It’s not part of scripture, but it was written in ancient times

The piece of pottery in the

Museum of the Nation in Lima,

Peru, comes from the Moche culture which flourished

between A.D. 400 and 1100

Bishop Bell, who died in 1496, is buried in the foundation of the

famous Carlisle Cathedral. The brass engravings around the grave show

dinosaurs (and other animals)

If the Bible is true you’d expect scientific evidence that dinosaurs

didn’t live millions of years ago

Soft Tissue and Carbon-14

Both strongly indicate that

dinosaurs lived in the recent past

Dr. Mary Schweitzer first demonstrated the existence of soft tissue in a Tyrannosaurus rex fossil that is

supposed to be 65 million years old

Their optimistic about solving this

They also found C-14 in dinosaur fossils, showing they are young!

Brachylophosaurus canadensis fossil (supposed to be 76 million years old)

also has soft tissue

Triceratops Fossil (65 million years old) shows strong evidence of having soft

(original) tissue

All this talk leads one to ask the question: Do dinosaurs still exist?

There may be a few survivors

Loch Ness

This monster is often described as looking like a

plesiosaurus

A strange sea creature, said to

resemble the Loch Ness Monster, has

been reported off the coast of Cornwall in south-west England

It’s not just today, but in history these claims were made

Champ or Champy is the name given to a reputed lake

monster living in Lake Champlain

300+ sightings recorded

The Iroquois and the Abenaki tribes, had legends about such a creature in the Lake. The Abenaki

called it "Tatoskok”

Ogopogo is the name given to a lake monster reported to live in Okanagan

Lake, in British Columbia, Canada

This lake monster has the most

evidence for it’s existence, and is described like

the others

Over the past 150 years, there have been many reports of sightings of a swamp-dwelling animal known as

‘mokele-mbembe’

The imprints of clawed feet and other trail marks clearly show

evidence of a large, heavy creature that is not a crocodile,

hippopotamus or elephant.

Witnesses who have seen this

monster describe (and

draw it) looking like a sauropod dinosaur similar

to a small Apatosaurus

natives identify pictures of an

Apatosaurus as Mokele-mbembe

Job 40:15-20: “Behold, Behemoth,

which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox Behold, his

strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly. He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. His bones are

tubes of bronze…

Does the Bible mention them?

his limbs like bars of iron. “He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword! For

the mountains yield food for him where all the wild beasts play.”

Isaiah talks about Leviathan

Psalms talks about sea monsters

The largest dinosaur fossil found was 40m (130ft) long and 20m (65ft) tall.

Weighing in at 77 tones, it was as heavy as 14 African elephants

What happened to them

They went on the ark

But the VAST majority of the dinosaurs were killed in the flood

(hence all the fossils)

And like many other creatures, after the flood dinosaurs slowly died out

because they couldn’t adapt
