What is a Dinosaur? Dinosaurs is the name of a group of prehistoric

reptiles. Lived in the Mesozoic Era, which began 245 million

years ago and went extinct 65 million years ago. The Mesozoic Era is divided into Triassic, Jurassic

and Cretaceous Period.

Compsognathus

Have a chicken-sized. It was the most smallest dinosaurs. Lived during the Jurassic period. It was green in color with dark striping across their

back.

Tyrannosaurus (T.rex)

It was one of the largest land carnivores of all time. Lived during the Cretaceous period. Measured about 40 feet long and 15 to 20 feet

tall.  Could eat up to 500 pounds.

Apatosarus It was one of the largest land herbivore animals. Lived during the Jurassic period. Have an extremely long neck and tail.

Triceratops Three distinctive horns on its head a large bony

frill behind its head. Lived during the late Cretaceous, around 66

million years ago. Triceratops had a gut full of fermenting bacteria for

digesting tough plant material.

Extinction The dinosaurs went extinct about 65 million years

ago, at the end of the Cretaceous period, which was a time of high volcanic and tectonic activity.
