These include such delights asNelson’s mixed grill, rump steak, gam-mon, pork loin, sausage and liver, allgrilled to the diner’s liking plus realchips, onion rings, peas and fried egg,as well as heart-warming dishes suchas tender beef cobbler. And for themore adventurous, chicken fajitasserved with soft tortillas, salad anddips. The Lord Nelson is also wellknown for its delicious home-madedesserts including Bakewell tart andirresistible bread and butter pudding.
With a combination of traditionalEnglish and cosmopolitan food, thelatest menu is guaranteed to appeal toall palates.
“It’s always been my aim since tak-ing over The Lord Nelson to bringback the individuality that you gotwhen pubs were independent, and thatis carried through to the food weserve,” says Paul.
“All of our meat and vegetables aresourced locally with the meat comingfrom John Wilson Butcher’s at Gilroydand the vegetables from
Hoylandswaine farm shop.“Everything is prepared fresh on the
premises, we don’t serve any mealsthat have been frozen.
“Although we are known for ourfood, we are still a local pub and wetry to cater for everyone.”
Food is served Monday to Saturdayfrom noon to 9pm and Sunday noon to8pm. The Lord Nelson offers great dis-counts through the week as well asthemed nights and an excellent three-course Sunday lunch, which isextremely popular at just £12.95.
An early bird menu is served all-dayMonday to Friday between noon and6pm; one course £4.95, two courses£6.95 or three courses £8.95.
On Mondays diners get 20 per centoff food, while Tuesday diners canenjoy a dessert for just £1 when order-ing a main meal.
Themed nights include Friday steaknights, with those ordering a steakgetting a free dessert, and WednesdayAmerican rib nights with a choice ofsteak or chicken and ribs, plus themain menu is also available.
