List It• 10 different types of evolution stones
from Pokémon, name all.
• +5 points for each.• +10 bonus points for getting all.
Long Visual Connect• A string of Pokémons will be shown.
• A particular theme connects them.
• Points on individual slides given.
Form differences• All these Pokémons have different
forms depending on the breeding, weather conditions and the sort.
• At times, these differences are purely cosmetic and have no bearing on the difference in the Pokémon's stats from another.
• Bulbapedia is one of the foremost Pokémon sites.• Since its launch in February 2005, it has grown to
become one of the largest Pokémon resources on the internet.
• It has been called the "Internet's most detailed Pokémon database project".
• The name, as is clearly visible, an amalgamation of Bulbasaur and Encyclopedia.
• But why Bulbasaur?
1
• Ash Ketchum is the main character of most of Pokémon’s offerings, but his name in the Japanese version is a common Japanese name, which literally means ‘born from the ashes’, which paved the way for his English first name too.
• What is his name in the Japanese version, which can be taken to mean "wisdom" or "reason“?
2
• Ash Ketchum’s surname has been one of the subjects of us Pokémon fans', relating him to the most popular condiment.
• But the actual inspiration of the surname, strangely, is also a pun.
• What is it a pun on, which should be fairly known to all of us in this room?
3
• Blue: Sleep• Red: Infatuation• Yellow: Confusion• What am I talking about,
something which you could relate to Volcanic ash?
4
Flutes• Volcanic Ash is a raw material used to
make items at the Glass Workshop on Route 113 in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Ash can be made into either flutes or furniture.
• These are the status conditions those specific coloured flutes can cure.
4
• Togepi has reached Level1 to Level17 without ever stepping into battle.
• What could be the three reasons for it?
• P.S. If someone has more, please enlighten me. :P
• I could count only 3.
5
• The Striaton Gym is the official Gym of Striaton City in the Unova region of the Pokémon World. The Gym Leaders are named Cilan, Chili, and Cress.
• It is the first Gym in the the Black and White versions of the game. The Striaton Gym itself is based on a butler café (a cosplay café).
• Trainers who defeat them receive the Trio Badge, and TM83 (Work Up).
• The chosen starter Pokémon determines which Gym Leader is battled.
• So, what kind of Pokémons do each of them use?
6
• Cilan: Grass (named after Cilantro)
• Chili: Fire (named after Chili (Duh!))
• Cress: Water (named after Watercress)
6
• A twisted spoon is one of those items which boosts the power of a certain type of moves by 20% when held.
• What type of moves?
7
• Combee is a Bug/Flying type Pokémon, only a 12.5% of which may evolve into Vespiquen, starting at Level 21.
• Why only is this 12.5%? What is the English translation of Vespequin’s name in original Japanese?
8
• This version of the game remains to be the only core series game to allow the player to obtain all three starter Pokémons from a previous game legitimately without trading, and none of them is the starter Pokémon, due to being based on the anime.
• What version? Which Pokémon is the only choice as the starter Pokémon?
9
• There is an attack called ‘Embargo’ which was introduced in Generation IV, which has been TM63 since then.
• What does the move Embargo do?
10
• “Afflicts the targeted enemy with an Embargo status condition. A Pokémon with the Embargo status can't use items.”
10
• This blog on Tumblr, attempts to chronicle all 649 colours found on the bodies of Pokémon in the series.
• What is the rather apt name of the blog?
11
• In this move, the using Pokémon waggles a finger and stimulates its brain into randomly using nearly any move, akin to this instrument, and hence called a X.
• Only a few Pokémon can learn this move with the process of levelling up namely Clefairy, Clefable, Mew, Togepi, Togetic and Muchlax.
• What am I talking about?
12
• A certain non-evolving genderless Pokémon is light purple or magenta in colour.
• X is the only Pokémon in the X Egg Group, and thus has the unique ability to breed with any member of every other Egg Group other than the Pokémon in the Undiscovered group and itself, including some genderless Pokémon, to produce Eggs of the other's species.
• What Pokémon is this?
13
• After the appearance of Pokémon in 1996, and the resultant Pokémon-related craze, this company unveiled the first ‘Pokémon Jets’ on 1 July 1998, timed with the release of Pokémon: The First Movie.
• Each of the first two jets displayed a number of the then 151 Pokémon characters. Due to the popularity of the aircraft, a third one was unveiled a matter of weeks later. The three aircraft were introduced on numerous domestic flights in Japan.
• A fourth aircraft, was called the US version by the airline, as it was put into service on the airline's North American network.
• Passengers on the Pokémon Jets receive a complete Pokémania experience. The aircraft and flight crews are decked out in Pokémon themes, including headrests, flight attendant uniforms, food containers, in-flight entertainment, and souvenir bags.
• What company is this?
14
• Shuckle is a non-evolving Pokémon, whose Defence and Special Defence stat is (shared) highest amongst all known Pokémons, but has the lowest Special Attack and Speed too.
• A fan theory says that this Pokémon is the origin of a certain precious item, though other theories also say that they are found because of the explosion of a factory producing them, a long time ago.
• The theory points to a fact (or fiction) that if you have a Shuckle, and you let it hold berry juice for a really long time it ferments and eventually becomes a X.
• The berry juice to X mechanic is only available in Gen2.• What object of desire do I speak of?
15
Rare Candy• It is used to increase the level of any Pokémon
by 1, thus saving the trainer from having to battle to raise their Pokémon.
• While Rare Candy is an easier way to level up a Pokémon, it isn't gaining any Effort Value points, making the Pokémon somewhat weaker than a normal Pokémon would have been if was trained (assuming it could still get the points).
15
• In the Pokémon Red and Blue beta, this Pokémon, and its pre-evolution form were known as "La" and "Ny".
• Considering its looks, its ability to float, and its tendency to explode, it may have been based upon a floating naval mine or living meteorite. It is also based on smog and other forms of air pollution.
• Both of the their names are the corruption of varieties of sounds made when someone is in a polluted environment.
• What two Pokémons are these, and why La and Ny?
16
• The Swords of Justice is a collective term to refer to the quartet of Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, and Keldeo.
• The group is based on a very famous quartet (though a trio for a layman).
• The group has challenged humans in legends in order to protect other Pokémon from losing their homes to human expansion.
• All of the Pokémon share a secondary type, Fighting-type, and all share the Ability Justified.
• Cobalion represents W, the oldest and de facto leader of the group. Terrakion represents X, the strongest, heaviest, and largest member of the group. Virizion represents Y, the most feminine, vain, and romantic member of the group. Keldeo represents Z, the youngest by far and the latest addition to the group.
• What group are they based on, known to all of us here?
17
• This Pokémon evolves into its higher form when it is leveled up, with a Remoraid in the party, to make one of the stranger evolutions of the Pokémon world.
• The inspiration for this special evolution is said to come from the natural world, where a certain aquatic animal, who visits cleaning stations for the removal of parasites, not eating them in return.
• What aquatic animal is this?
18
• There is a clothing line called Pokémon 151, featuring stylized designs of GenI and GenII Pokémon illustrated by a Japanese design studio ‘Polygraph’.
• The clothing line was initially designed to appeal to older or previous Pokémon fans who prefer or are nostalgic about the first generation of Pokémon.
• Why ‘151’?
19
• This Pokémon was originally known as "Orphon," a corruption of the word "orphan," based on its abandonment at birth.
• Nobody has ever seen the Pokémon’s real face; only its mother's skull, which it wears. It also could be based on primitive cultures that wore bones for decoration and used them for weapons.
• Some theories also say that the name of the Pokémon is a possible reference to its pale white head or that its bone resembles ‘the white ball’ from billiards/snooker.
• What Pokémon is this?
20
