Madeleine’s Note: Congratulations to all 4-H exhibitors on a job well done
at the Dickinson County Fair and the Iowa State Fair. It
takes many hands and a TON of time to make these
opportunities through 4-H possible. Please join me in
expressing gratitude to those who help make it all
happen: Club Leaders, Committee Members, Volunteers,
Sponsors, and your family members too!
Good luck to those continuing their projects through
record keeping! It’s not too late to start a record book
for the 2020-2021 project year. (Deadline is September
11th)
We are looking ahead to a
new 4-H year, doing new
programs in the schools,
new weekend events, and
welcoming new 4-Hers.
Congratulations to Barb Utech on being in-ducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame! She has shared her time & talents in support of the Dickinson County 4-H program for MANY years & helped grow our County 4-H Family.

Dickinson County Youth 4-H Council: Applications and Reapplications Due Sept. 18
The 4-H Youth Council is ready to accept applications for new and returning members! We would like to have
representation from ALL Clubs, any high school 4-H member is eligible to join!
PURPOSE: What is Youth Council?
To provide leadership training and opportunities to older 4-H’ers
To plan, conduct and evaluate county 4-H educational events and activities
To promote participation in 4-H programming year round
To provide input, and recommendations for 4-H programs and activities; To be a liaison between 4-Hers and Adults
What does it take? A great attitude and commitment. The Youth Council meets on a monthly basis throughout most of the year and twice in June. Members are expected to help with at least 1 event such as 4-H recruitment, a workshop, a weekend youth event, or summer day camp. This is a great way to share your talents and grow as a leader.
How to Join: Dickinson County Youth Council is applicable to 4-H’ers who are high school Freshman to Seniors. Mem-bership is based off of a new points system, written application, and an interview.
Due to COVID-19, this year the points system will not be utilized. The completed form is due to the Dickinson County Extension office by September 18th. After submission, you will be contacted through email to line up a short interview. Applications can be found on our website at:
