Background
• In 2001, the Biblioteca Central, coordinator of Sistema de Bibliotecas de la UNMSM, submitted the entitled project: “ Digitalization of San Marcos theses and dissertations on full text on Internet”.
This project was aproved throught R. R. N° 01061-R-02 dated on February 14th, 2002.
“To authorize the publication on full text of thesesand dissertations on the UNMSM virtual library´s web page,only with the authors´s permission” (Art. 3).

• Index: authors, academic grade, year of publication and areas (develop manually)
• Average of time for publications for each theses: 27 hours

Cybertesis Peru“Using standards to improve
the process”
Project submitted to the Fonds Francophone des Inforoutes and to UNESCO in 1998, by the universities of Montreal, Lyon and Alexandria(Egypt). In the year 1999, the Universidad de Chile and Geneve University (Switzerland) were also included.
In Latin America there are 5 chilean universities which are part of the project since 2003. In 2004, Colombia and Peru have started their participation each one throught one university.
In Peru, the project started with the signature of one aggrement between the UNMSM and the Universidad de Chile, on November 2003. The web page Cybertesis Peru was launched on June, 2004.

On schedule:
•To built a national web page covering the information about theses and dissertations.
• To implement new methodological tools to Cybertesis (such as Thesaurus, forum, and others) in order to spread the improvements among the members of the network.
• To get funds to increase the number of digital theses and dissertations on line.
•To design and develop strategies promoting the participation of the academic areas on Cybertesis.
