    Features

    Safety InstructionsThe following contents are for the prevention of use’s damage andproperty loss. Read them thoroughly and use the analyzer rightly.

    1) Speedy and convenient measurement by Project name modeJust by the one time setup of the Project name mode, very convenient measurement withoutthe job of mode setting of LNB, SWITCH and others upon the satellite is activated speedy. Itassists the rapid measurement for installation and maintenance at the field.

    2) I/Q Constellation DiagramConstellation displays are useful because they provide an in-service, visual means ofdetermining signal quality. Based on recognizable patterns, it is possible to get an idea of whatkind of impairment may be degrading a channel. Especially, 8PSK transmits more symbols thanQPSK to send more data information. The distance between symbols of 8PSK is closer thanQPSK and 8PSK can be influenced by interference easier than QPSK accordingly.

    3) Spectrum Analyzer The 1680S/S2 enables you to see the different spectrum waveforms for each satellite and seewhere problems are in the receiving satellites signal. This function is very useful for the fieldtechnicians to install a satellite antenna very quickly and correctly. Spectrum span is adjustablelike 120MHz, 240MHz, 600MHz and Full. The response speed of 1680S/S2 is very fast. Inaddition, you can measure a signal level for the selected frequency by one or dual markers aswell as the bandwidth between the selected frequencies.

    4) MER, Pre-BER, Post-BER, SNR measurementThe important measurement factors to measure digital signal of satellite are MER (ModulationError Ratio), SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio),) and Pre-BER/Post-BER (Bit Error Rate). 1680S/S2measures MER, SNR, Pre-BER & Post-BER for digital signal very fast. The Analyzer enablesyou to confirm the quality of digital signal after adjusting a satellite antenna.

    5) Blind Scan for DVB-S, DSS, DVB-S2 & TP List ScanUser can scan for all saved satellites automatically. Also, even if user doesn’t know anyinformation on the incoming satellite signal, the Analyzer can do an automatic scan of that toidentify the frequency as well as symbol rate, polarity and etc.

    6) Easy upload/download new satellite file list from PC using USB portThe user can upload/download new satellite file list from PC and transmit it to the unit usingHyperTerminal program in window system. Max. 99 satellites information (Max 2,560 TP) filescan be saved into the Analyzer.

    7) Data Logger with USB port The 1680S/S2 analyzer has the function of upload/download the measured files (max. 99files)and transmit the scanned file from analyzer to the PC using HyperTerminal program in windowsystem. The printing of the files saved at the PC is available.

    8) Max. Hold (Peak level detection) When the 1680S/S2 detects a peak level, with the mode of CODE & LEVEL with audible tone and OFF without sound.

    9) Easy Portable & lightweight Type The weight is less than 650g including the rechargeable battery packs. 128 X 64 dot matrix LCDscreen shows measurement data clearly through both graphical and numerical form.

    • Don’t disassemble, repair and remodel the analyzer.쮡 When repair is needed, contact to the service center.

    • After being fully aware of user manual, operate and install the analyzer.• Observe the ranges of power supply and measurement according to the user manual.• The analyzer and accessories should be installed, operated and maintained only authorized

    personnel. Faulty installation or service may result in an accident and make invalid warranty.

    • Don’t supply the power to the analyzer without setting the rechargeable battery pack. It maygive a serious damage to inner circuit.

    • For the model of 1680S, recharge the batteries after being discharged completely, not toshorten their life span.

    • Before using adapter, check whether its power is united to the main power. Or the innercircuit may be damaged.

    • Use a car cigarette adapter with 0.75A fuse. The inner circuit may be damaged. • Use a car charger adapter as 13.8V. Do not use the 24V DC of big truck.• When you use a car cigarette adapter, get the car started before charging the batteries.

    Otherwise, the batteries may not be fully recharged or the car may be discharged.

    • Unplug the unit from the wall outlet before cleaning. Don’t use liquid, wax and aerosol cleaner.Use a dry cloth.

    • Use a dry cloth in cleaning contacting parts. Don’t use a wet cloth.

    1. Check out the packing status.쮡 In case of damaging the packing box, contact to the dealer or service center. Keep the

    damaged packing box as it is so that we can figure out the point of problem correctly.

    2. Open the box and check out its contents. 쮡 The standard accessories for 1680S/1680S2 are the portable bag including the unit,

    shoulder strap, F type connector, adapter, DIN-USB cable and user manual.

    3. Connect the adapter to the unit in order to charge/recharge the batteries. 쮡 1680S : Ni-MH rechargeable batteries(total 7.2V. 2100m. A size) 쮡 1680S2 : Li-PO rechargeable batteries(total 7.4V. 3800mA)

    The basic Adapter : DC12V/500mA

    Cautions for battery charge1) All Telemann analyzers can interrupt improper power supply in order to protect their inner circuits

    from any possible damage. 쮡 Please turn the damaged analyzer to our A/S as the fuse should be replaced. In this case, repairing cost is

    charged to buyer regardless of the warranty period.

    2) It is recommended to charge battery before turn off. Charging battery during operation is possible.쮡 In this case, we are not responsible for any damage that may happen.

    3) For the 1680S, after discharging completely, it takes for more than 8 hours to fully recharge batteries.쮡 The battery charging time is upon the battery status.

    4) When the battery charge level becomes low and you hear the warning tone, you should recharge thebatteries. If the battery charge level becomes exceedingly low, the analyzer will automatically power off.

    Very Important!

    3• Use the analyzer in the temperature range from 5 to 50℃.

    • Don’t connect any cables which are not offered by manufacturer. 쮡 It may cause fatal damage to the analyzer.

    • Only use the chargeable batteries, adapter and USB cable provided by manufacturer. Usingunauthorized accessories could avoid warranty.

    4-2. Antenna Adjustment

    To set the parameters of satellite, transponder frequency, polarity / signal band, transpondername / channel name, level unit, Project name (local frequency and LNB current adjustment),use the setting bar pressing the buttons (up/down/left/right/next/enter).

    1) LCD backlight On/OffTo turn on the LCD backlight, press enter button more than 2seconds. To turn off the LCD backlight,same method.

    2) LCD Contrast Level Control To adjust the contrast level of the analyzer, turn the analyzer off. Press the power button first and pressthe enter button. Release the power button, then the mode of CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT is displayed.By pressing the Left/Right button to adjust the LCD contrast level and press enter button for saving.Or, you can adjust the LCD CONTRAST level on the mode of SYSTEM SETUP.

    3) When you want to initialize the analyzerTurn the analyzer off. Press the power button with pressing the left arrow button. Release the powerbutton. Then the mode of DEFAULT OPTION SETUP is displayed. By pressing the enter button, you canmake the analyzer to the factory default settings.

    NOTE!!!

    Press and hold the power button. The first screen showsmodel name, battery charge percentage.

    As you release pressing the power button, the first screen ischanged to the second screen automatically. The satellitename, longitude, transponder frequency, polarity / signalband, transponder number(or channel name), signallevel(dB or %), signal quality (SNR, dB or %), project name,22KHz pulse/DiSEqC, battery balance are displayed.

    To change the setting value, press up or down button tomove the setting bar to your desired setting and then, enterbutton to select it. When the selected setting is blinking,press up or down (arrow) button to change its parameter.And press the enter button again to terminate the changing.

    Move a dish until the position of satellite is found. When the analyzer detects thecorrect position of satellite, “SERCHAING” message is changed to “FOUND”. Whenthe display is changed to “FOUND”, keep moving a dish until “S” (Signal Level) and“Q” (Signal Quality) are peaked to the maximum value. The analyzer beep the higheraudible tone closer to the maximum level and lower beep sound more estrange fromthe max level.Signal tone is generated from over 40dB㎶ of the current level, but if the current levelis lower than 20dB lower than the peak level, signal tone will not be generated.

    When the max level is reached, fix the dish and LNB.(If “S” value is only displayed not show “Q”, different satellite is found)

    [ Satellite name] To change the Satellite, move the bar on the Satellite mode using the arrow buttons. Pressthe enter button when the bar is on the mode, the underline is displayed. Use the up/downbuttons, the Satellite is changed. The longitude is automatically followed upon the Satellite.

    [Longitude] The longitude of the current satellite is displayed according to the satellite.

    [Polarity / Signal Band] The polarity and band of V/Hi, H/Hi, V/Lo, H/Lo are displayed and can be selected using theenter button first and the arrow buttons.

    Move the antenna position by using theup/down/left/right buttons as follows.

    4-3. Digital Signal Quality Confirmation

    To measure the important factors of checking the digital signal of satellite, press the fingerbutton on the Antenna Adjustment mode [4-2]. Then the value of SNR (Signal to NoiseRatio) or MER (Modulation Error Ratio), pBER (Pre-Bit Error Rate), aBER (After-Bit ErrorRate) are shown.

    The analyzer has the function of the auto detection for MER, SNR and BER very fast. Thisfunction enables you to confirm the quality of digital signal after adjusting a satellite antenna.

    Select the DiSEqC switch using the up/down buttons andpress the enter button.

    F(Goto ref point/i.g.: Goto 0。) ; To move the antenna back to thebasic adjusted position.

    B (Drive W. fast) ; To move the antenna to the West quickly.

    C (Fine tune east) ; To move the antenna to the East slowly.

    D (Fine tune west) ; To move the antenna to the West slowly.

    A (Drive E. fast) ; To move the antenna to the East quickly.

    [ Transponder Frequency] a) To change the value from GHz to MHz, press the enter button twice and vice-versa.b) When the unit of transponder frequency is displayed as MHz, Intermediate

    Frequency(IF), which is subtracted the current local frequency from the transponderfrequency will be displayed. The range is adjusted from 950 to 2,150MHz.

    c) You can change the transponder frequency and measure it freely. In this case, channelname(or transponder number) will be displayed as “CHANGED”.

    [Transponder Number / Channel Name]

    Press the enter button twice, and channel name will be changed to transponder number,and vice versa. Transponder frequency will be changed automatically according to thechange of channel name (or transponder number).

    [Project name쮠쮡Local Frequency] LNB local frequency is changeable. After placing the setting bar on the Project name, pressthe enter button, then the LO [Local Frequency] is displayed. Press the enter button andselect the Local Frequency using the up/down arrow buttons. The most popular Localfrequencies are programmed and can be selected and saved by pressing the enter button. To change the mode from the Local Frequency to the Project name, press the enter buttontwice after positioning the bar on the Local Frequency.

    [Level Unit] Press the enter button, and RF level value is displayed as dB or %(linear mode).

    [22KHz pulse / DiSEqC]Low band (22KHz OFF) or High band (22KHz ON) is selectable

    NOTE!!!

    LNB switch control : 22KHz Pulse or DiSEqC LNB signal output can be controlled by 22KHz pulse or DiSEqC.

    DiSEqC is an open standard that stands for digital satellite equipment control. DiSEqC systemhas been designed primarily to meet the problem of two-satellite, two-band systems easily. Ithas dedicated outputs to select polarity, satellite position and frequency band. The option outputcan be used along with the satellite position output to select up to 4 LNBs on a multi-feedsystem.

    A powerful rotator (motor) is used to move dish. The principal of a motorized system is that thedish moves from east to west to track the satellite positions. It utilizes a data stream passed upthe LNB co-axial cable is needed for installation.

    1680S/1680S2 enable you to move a satellite rotator control a DiSEqC antenna rotator andadjust satellite antenna.

    How to set DiSEqC commands

    Move the bar to the DiSEqC mode of the 22KHz or Dis and press the enter button.

    The higher Q value shows the better signal.

    • MER : the higher value the better signal. Over 15dB is excellent signaling condition andminimum valid signal is 12dB.

    • SNR: the higher value the better signal. Over 10dB is good signaling condition andminimum valid signal is 8dB.

    • Pre-BER: Before BER. Bit error rate before correcting by FEC.• Post-BER: After BER. Bit error rate after correcting by FEC.• BER value is marked as x.xE-x and lesser error bit of the total transmitting bit means better

    signal. I.g, BER 4.0E-5 means 4X10(-5), 4bits are error on the 100,000bit. The Pre-BERshould be more than x.xE-4.

    4-4. LNB Current Measurement

    To measure the actual LNB power and C/N (Carrier toNoise Ratio), press the figure button on the DigitalSignal Quality confirmation mode [4-3], then the belowdisplay is shown.

    In case of LNB power is over than 450mA by LNB defector cable short circuit, the analyzer display OVER LOAD

    with beep sound. Then, remove the cable and check the cable and LNB condition.

    NOTE!!!

    ① The symbol rate of FEC is shown at the bottom side of screen.

    ② If you want to change the transponder frequency, you can changed symbol rate freely as well. Symbol rate will be detected automatically anddisplayed. For example, 21.xxx means that the unit is detecting the symbol ratefrom 21.000 to 21.999Msps.

    After checking the actual LNB current, press the finger button, and the Menu Screen showssix menus. In order to select the desired menu, press the up/down/left /right button andpress the enter button to access the selected menu.In any menu, you can access to the menu screen directly by pressing the finger button morethan 2seconds.

    4-5-1. SAT SIGNAL ANALYZER By pressing the finger button or the enter button, the below modes will beshown. Please refer to the above explained guide on the [4-2, 4-3, 4-4]

    4-5-2. DUAL SAT MEASUREMENT By pressing the finger button or the enter button on the Main menu, thebelow mode is shown.

    Two satellites can be measured at the same time as shown as thefollowing screen.

    NOTE!!!

    The Constellation mode of 8PSK and QPSK automatically changed in 1680S2.

    4-5-3. SCAN & DATA LOGGER By pressing the finger button or the enter button on the Main menu, thebelow mode is shown.

    You can scan all active transponders of the selected satellite which was saved in theanalyzer. And the review for the scanned transponders including the frequency, symbolrate, FEC, SNR and level is available.

    To select the mode, press the up/down arrow buttons. After pressing the enter button,select the value by using the arrow buttons, and press the enter button for saving.

    To back to the Main menu, press the finger button.

    1) SCAN LISTTo select the scan list, press the enter button. Then the black

    bar is moved to the right side from the whole line covering.

    By using the up/down/left/right arrow buttons, select the TP

    LIST or BLIND. And press the enter button for saving the value.

    3) BLIND SCAN FROM/TOTo set up the Frequency range for scaning, press the enter button. Then the black bar is moved to

    the right side from the whole line covering.

    By using the left/right arrow buttons, select the mode of ten digit and hundred digit. After

    selecting the digit, change the frequency by pressing the up/down arrow buttons. The frequency

    range from 950M to 2150M is selectable. And press the enter button for saving the value.

    4) MIN.SYMBOL RATE / MAX. SYMBOL RATETo set up the Symbol rate range for scaning, press the enter button. Then the black bar is moved

    to the right side from the whole line covering.

    By using the up/down/left/right arrow buttons, select the symbol rate for changing. The symbol

    rate range from 1M to 45M is selectable. And press the enter button for saving the value.

    For a quick scan, the narrow setup of symbol rate is recommended.

    2) TARGET LNBTo select the LNB, press the enter button. Then the black bar is moved to the right side from the

    whole line covering.

    By using the up/down/left/right arrow buttons, select the mode of 1st / 2nd / ALL. On the ALL mode,

    press the arrow button one more, then the modes of 1st / 2nd is shown. And press the enter button

    for saving the value.

    5) MIN. SCAN LEVELTo set up the minimum level for scaning, press the enter button.

    Then the black bar is moved to the right side from the whole line

    covering.

    By using the up/down/left/right arrow buttons, select the level

    number for changing. The range from 40 to 70dB㎶ by 5dB step or NONE is selectable. And press

    the enter button for saving the value.

    6) START SCANINGAfter finishing setup the above procedure of 1) ~5), the scanning is available.

    Press the enter button, the [SELECT SCAN LIST] mode is shown.

    On the [START SCANNING] mode, by pressing the enter button, DATA/FILE NAME can be printed.

    To move, press the left/right arrow buttons. To select A~Z, 1~9 in sequence, press the up/down

    buttons. To delete the selected value, press the button until the black bar after number 9 is shown

    and move the bar to left/right. After input the value of DATA, FILE NAME, press the enter button.

    Then the BLIND SCAN is automatically started. And press the enter button for saving the value.

    In case of fail the SCAN, [EMPTY SCAN LIST] is shown. Then press the finger button to back to

    the higher mode.

    7) REVIEW SCAN LISTPress the enter button, the [SELECT SCAN LIST] mode is shown.

    In case of no scanned list, [EMPTY SCAN LIST] is shown. Then press the finger button to back to

    the higher mode.

    The Satellite name, Transponder number (orChannel name), Frequency, Polarity/Signal bandcan be changed. The changing method is firstmove the black bar to the designated mode byusing the arrow buttons and secondly, afterpressing the enter button, change the value by theup/down buttons. After changing, press the enterbutton for completion.

    By pressing the finger button, you can back to the Main menu.

    NOTE!!!

    What is the Blind Scan?Even in the condition that you don’t know which satellite is being currentlyreceived, you can simply get all information for the satellite such as frequency,symbol rate, level, SNR, FEC using the blind scan function.

    8) START DATA LOGGERTo put the DATA, FILE NAME, TIME (year, month, date, hour,

    minute) in, press the enter button, the [START SCANNING] mode

    is shown.

    The standard of PASS/FAIL used in the DATA LOGGER is

    adjusted at the SYSTEM SETUP mode.

    DATA/FILE NAME can be printed. To move, press the left/right arrow buttons. To select A~Z, 1~9

    in sequence, press the up/down buttons. To delete the selected value, press the button until the

    black bar after number 9 is shown and move the bar to left/right. After input the value of DATA,

    FILE NAME, press the enter button. Then the TIME, DATE can be printed. By pressing the enter

    button, DATA LOGGER mode is automatically shown.

    In case of no SCAN file, [SIGNAL NOT FOUND] and [EMPTY SCAN LIST] is shown. Then press the

    finger button to back to the higher mode.

    9) REVIEW FILE To watch the saved file, press the enter button. Then the [REVIEW FILE] is shown.

    By pressing the finger button or the enter button, the mode is back to the higher mode.

    10) UPLOAD ONE FILE To select one file to upload to a PC, press the enter button. The [UPLOAD FILE] is shown.

    By pressing the finger button or the enter button, the mode is back to the higher mode.

    11) UPLOAD ALL FILE To upload all files to PC at one time, press the enter button. The [UPLOAD ALL FILE] is shown.

    When the “ Press ? Key to confirm” is displayed, press the enter button. Then all the file is

    uploaded to the PC.

    12) DELETE ONE FILETo select and delete one file, press the enter button. The [DELETE FILE] is shown. By pressing the

    enter button, the file is deleted.

    13) DELETE ALL FILE : To delete all files at one time, press the enter button. The [DELETE ALL FILE] is shown. When the

    4-5-4. SPECTRUM ANALYZER This function enables you to check the frequency distribution curve and tofigure out which point has a problem on the receiving satellites signal. By pressing the finger button or the enter button, the below mode isdisplayed.

    The fast spectrum sweep mode helps the install an antenna with the quick feedback upon the

    antenna positioning. (sweep speed: 300ms)

    (B) When a black bar is located on (B) position After pressing the enter button, the underline is shown, by using the up/down buttons, the standard level

    value is changed. (Level range; 15~110dB㎶)

    Press the enter button, the adjusted level value is saved.

    Press the enter button, the selected span is saved.

    On the standard level setup mode, by pressing the left/right

    arrow buttons, the screen display unit is changed to

    5dB/2dB.

    switching such as V/LO, H/LO, H/HI, V/HI.

    The channels spectrum waveform contained in the adjusted

    group is shown.

    ii) (Single Marker)At the right below mode (V/LO), (no pressing the enter button),

    press the up arrow button, the Single Marker mode is displayed.

    Press the enter button, the underline is shown. By pressing the

    up/down/left/right buttons, the correspondence level is shown

    as the signal marker (vertical line) is moving between left and

    right.

    By pressing the enter button, the setup is completed.

    iii) A B : A = xxxx.x:xx.xdB (A marker and its signal level)At the Single Marker mode, (no pressing the enter button), press

    the up arrow button, the below picture mode is displayed. Press

    displayed. Press the enter button, the underline is shown.

    It is shown the Frequency distance between A marker and B

    marker.

    It is displayed as A TO B = xxx.x MHz.

    Pressing the left/light button, A cursor vertical line is moved left/light. By pressing the up/down

    button, B cursor vertical line is moved left/light.

    vi) or (Spectrum Sweep)At the (Frequency band between A and B marker) mode, (no

    The peak level and its frequency are displayed as PEAK

    xxxx.x:xx.xdB 쮡 means spectrum sweeps from the left to the right and 쮠 means spectrum

    sweeps from the right to the left.

    Pressing the up/down/left/light button, the direction of spectrum sweep is changed.

    By pressing the enter button, the setup is completed.

    vii) (Rotator Control)At the (Spectrum Sweep) mode, (no pressing the enter button),

    press the up arrow button, the below picture mode is displayed.

    In spectrum mode, you can control a rotator to the

    East/West/original position.

    By pressing left/light button, the rotator is moved to East/West slowly. By pressing up/down

    button, the rotator is moved to East/West quickly. By pressing the finger button, the rotator is

    back to the original position.

    4-5-6-1) SYSTEM SETUPPress the enter button on the [SYSTEM SETUP] mode, the below sub-menu aredisplayed.

    ⓐ PROJ By pressing the enter button, it shows the project list.

    The user can select the desired satellite which is preprogrammed in the analyzer by moving the

    black bar as pressing the up/down button and save by pressing enter button.

    If the user want to change the project name, press the enter button twice quickly, then the name

    can be changed by using the up/down and light/left buttons. Press the enter button for saving.

    The LNB and SWITCH values are set up according to the

    satellites, without the adjustment of satellite, LNB, DISEQC,

    the measurement is simply activated.

    The maximum 56pcs of project are programmed.

    ⓑ LNB By pressing the enter button, the programmed LNB lists are

    displayed. The user can select the desired LNB by using the

    up/down button. Press the enter button for saving. The

    maximum 70 LNBs are available.

    ⓒ SW It shows the programmed switch list by pressing the enter

    button. Select the desired switch using the up/down buttons

    and press the enter button for saving.

    The maximum 30 SWs are available.

    4-5-5. QPSK CONSTELLATIONThe constellation display is the digital equivalent of a vectorscope display, showing in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) components of the QAM signal. A symbol is the smallestpiece of information transmitted in a given modulation system. The constellation diagrammakes detailed diagnosis of digital signals simple.

    Constellation displays are useful because they provide an in-service, visual means ofdetermining signal quality. Based on recognizable patterns, it is possible to get an idea ofwhat kind of impairment may be degrading a channel.

    Specially DVB-S2 (HD) has the more symbol (8PSK) than SD level QPSK and it has moreinterference influence. In this case, this mode shows the clue of the matter for findingcorrect point.

    ⓓ LNB SETUP TIME This mode is needed when you use a dual or universal LNB or DiSEqC switch in the dual LNB

    measurement mode or Scan measurement mode.

    The analyzer’s default setup time is 200ms. However, when the actual response time is slower

    than 200ms, the meter may not work correctly. In this case, please adjust the delay of setup

    time properly.

    By pressing the enter button, 200/600/1000/1400ms can be selected by the up/down buttons.

    ⓔ LEVEL UNIT After pressing the enter button and using the up/down/left/right buttons, Level unit is

    selectable among dB㎶, dBm or dBmV. (Default: dB㎶). By pressing the enter button, the value is saved.

    ⓕMEASURE B/W-MHz After pressing the enter button and select the digital level

    measurement bandwidth by using the left/right buttons. The

    bandwidth AUTO/3.0~26.0MHz are selectable. In case ofAUTO, the analyzer measures the digital average power

    automatically upon the signal bandwidth. (Default: 3MHz).

    By pressing the enter button, the value is saved.

    ⓖ CABLE-LOSS Cable Loss feature is to automatically compensate the measuring errors occurred when the

    measuring cable has some loss or when you do measuring by connecting an impedance

    matching device to the input terminal.

    Press the enter button and select the number by using left/right buttons.

    The +0.0~+12.0 in 1GHz and 2 GHz can be selected.

    ⓗ LEVEL(%) REF Press the enter button and adjust the level value 60dB㎶~90dB㎶ by up/down/left/rightbuttons.

    The RF level reference as 100% is adjusted. (Default: 80dB㎶)

    ⓘ SIG. QUALITY Press the enter button and select SNR/MER by up/down/left/right buttons. (Default: MER)

    ⓙ AUTO TIMEOUT Press the enter button and make turn off the analyzer automatically when it has remained

    inactive for a certain period of time [5/10/30 minutes or CONTI] to save battery life. (Default:5Minutes)

    ⓚ LNB EDITABLE Press the enter button and select the YES/NO for edition on the SATELLITE TP LIST orSATELLITE FILE LIST by up/down/left/right buttons. The Default is set as No due to protect the

    DATA loss by mistake.

    ⓛ LCD CONTRAST Press the enter button and adjust the LCD contrast level [1~9]by using the up/down/left/right buttons. (Default: 7)

    ⓜ BEEP SOUND Press the enter button and select the signal sound by using the up/down/left/right buttons.

    -. CODE: If the searching Satellite, FEC and SR are correctly found, the analyzer sounds a hightone.

    -. LEVEL: If the searching satellite is found, the analyzer sounds a tone. The responding speedis faster than the CODE mode.

    -. OFF: No sound makes even the search is completed.The default is CODE.

    ⓝ BER RANGEPress the enter button and select BER measure range [1.0E-6or 1.0E-8] by using the up/down/left/right buttons. 1.0E-6 isrecommended for a quick measurement.

    ⓞ LEVEL LIMIT Press the enter button and select the reference level for PASS/FAIL in Data Logger by usingthe up/down/left/right buttons. The range is 50~80dB㎶, 1dB step or NONE. (Default:77dBuV)

    ⓟ QUALITY LIMIT Press the enter button and adjust the digital quality reference [5~19dB or NONE ] forPASS/FAIL according to the above mode [ⓘ SIG. QUALITY] in Data Logger by using theup/down/left/right buttons.

    move the cursor and select the alphabet or number value by the up/down buttons. Maximum 16

    On the Default of USER NAME, the overwriting is available.

    4-5-6-2) SATELLITE TP LISTTo check the transponder number, transponder frequency, polarity, channel name,polarity, symbol rate, FEC for all satellites which are saved in the analyzer.

    1) Move the black bar on the satellite name, press theenter button. The mode is changed to “Select SAT”.Use the up/down/left/right buttons to change asatellite.

    2) To check the symbol rate and FEC, press the right arrow button.

    3) To make the skip mode of selected frequency, press the enter button after moving theblack bar on the SKP column.

    4) After the above process, the frequency marked S will be ignored on the measurementor saving mode.

    Press the finger button to back to the superior menu.

    4-5-6-3) SATELLITE FILE LISTTo check all satellites which are saved in the analyzer.

    1) To make the skip mode of selected satellite, press theenter button after moving the black bar on the SKPcolumn.

    2) Then the satellite marked S will be ignored on the measurement or saving mode. Press the finger button to back to the superior menu.

    4-5-6-4) USB PORT SETUPTo upload/download the preprogrammed satellite file listwith the computer using USB cable, it is required tomatch the communication parameters such as BAUDRATE, DATA BIT, PARITY BIT, and STOP BIT for both theanalyzer and the computer (PC or Laptop).

    4-5-6-5) LNB CONFIGURATIONPress the enter button to go to the sub-menu.Move the bar to the NAME mode and press the enterbutton, then the [SELECT LNB TYPE] mode is shown.

    4-6. The up/ downloading the file to the PC

    [Step 1 : Software Requirements]To upload the Satellite file list or the measurement data files which was saved in the analyzerto the PC (Personal Computer), or update the files such as satellite list, LNB configure file orSW (Switch) configure file in the PC and download it to the analyzer, the below stipulatedsoftware are need① CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller driver② Hyper Terminal Software.

    Please refer to the follow guide for CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller Driver and HyperTerminal Software.

    [Step 2: Connect DIN-USB cable between the analyzer and the PC]The DIN-USB cable is presented with the analyzer.

    Please take the following procedure.1) Turn on the PC.2) Connect the DIN-USB cable between the analyzer and the PC.3) Turn on the Analyzer.4) If the O/S (operation software) of the PC is the later version since then WINDOW2000/XP,

    the PC automatically searches the software of CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller andinstalls it. Then please take the procedure from step 3.

    5) If the automatic installation is failed or the O/S of the PC is the prior version thanWINDOW98/SE, please install the driver manually as stipulated on the Step 2.

    [Step 3: Install Driver]1) Connect to the www.telemannco.com2) Click the [DOWNLOAD] 쮡 [Software].3) Click the [CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller drivers for Windows]4) Download the suitable for your PC O/S system and install it.

    HyperTerminal SoftwareIf you are using Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP, HyperTerminal software is one ofbasic programs. To start HyperTerminal go to the [Start Menu] 쮡 [Programs] 쮡[Accessories] 쮡 [Communications] 쮡 [HyperTerminal] (Windows 95/98 may showHypertrm .exe).

    [Step 5: Communication Configuration]Before uploading/downloading the satellite list or uploading the stored file(s), the communication parameters of your computer should be the same as those of the meter.

    1. Connect the analyzer to the computer using USB cable.

    2. Turn the computer on, and go to the HyperTerminal. Select [Start] 쮡 [Programs]쮡[Accessories ]쮡 [Communications] 쮡 [HyperTerminal]. A large window will appear,titled [New Connection] - [HyperTerminal]. A small window is titled ConnectionDescription and displays New Connection. Enter any appropriate name for the newconnection file and select any icon. File name can be descriptive, such as Test, low1,TAB2, or ROOM3. Select OK. The HyperTerminal working window will now display the filename in the title bar, followed by HyperTerminal. A small window will appear requestingarea code, phone number, etc. Skip all entry fields except Connect using. Select COM portwhich is matched with your operating system. If you don’t know which COM port issuitable for your system, click on [My Computer] 쮡 [Properties] 쮡 [Hardware] 쮡[Device Manager] 쮡 [Ports]. You can see which port is for CP210x USB to UART BridgeController.

    Click OK and COM Port Properties window will open.

    3. Turn the analyzer on by pressing the POWER button, and go to SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONmode by pressing the FINGER button more than 2sec. Use the UP and DOWN button toscroll to USB PORT SETUP. Press the ENTER button to enter it.

    The required communication configuration is as follows;

    • Baud rate : The baud or bit rate The baud or bit rate establishes the speed ofcommunications between the analyzer and another device. Baud values available are 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600. (19200 is recommended)

    • Data Bit: Data bits available are 7 and 8. (default: 8)• Parity Bit: Parity bits available are NONE, ZERO, ODD, EVEN. (default: NONE)• Stop Bit: Stop bits available are 1 and 2. (default: 1)

    4. In HyperTerminal, click on [File] 쮡 [Properties] 쮡 [Setting]쮡 [ASCII]. Adjust the [line delay] upon your PC telephone operation environment.Click the [Confirm].

    4-6-1. How to saving the measured Data and uploading the file to the PC

    1. On the Main menu, select the menu [SCAN & DATA LOGGER]

    2. On the [SCAN LIST], select the list which is to be saved.On the [TARGET LNB], select the LNB which is to be saved.

    3. Select the [START DATA LOGGER].The mode of File name, Date and Time is displayedInput the file name, date and time, press the enter button. The Data saving is started.

    4.After the finishing the data saving, [END OF SCANNING] is shown and the beep sounds. Assame method, maximum 99pcs can be saved.

    NOTE!!!

    The communication parameters of the computer should be the same as those of theanalyzer.

    5. In HyperTerminal, click on [Transfer] 쮡 [Capture Text] . A dialog box appears whereyou can enter a filename and choose the folder where it will be saved. HyperTerminaluses ‘CAPTURE.TXT’ as a default filename - The user can change it to other file name.Press ‘Start’ when the adjustment is finished.

    6. If you want to upload the one file to the PC, select the [UPLOAD ONE FILE]. If you wantto upload the all files at a time, select the [UPLOAD ALL FILE].

    7. The transmission is started and the LED of remote mode on the analyzer is blinking.

    8. On the Hyper Terminal screen, if the “END OF FILE”, “END OF TX” are shown, thetransmission is completed.

    9. In order to saving the file to the PC, on the Hyper Terminal screen, click the [Transfer]쮡 [Capture Text] 쮡 [Stop]. Then the “END OF FILE” is displayed on the PC monitorand the saving is completed.

    4-6-2. How to upload the Satellite file list and Project file list fromthe Analyzer to the PC

    1. In HyperTerminal, click on [Transfer] 쮡 [Capture Text] . A dialog box appears whereyou can enter a filename and choose the folder where it will be saved. HyperTerminaluses ‘CAPTURE.TXT’ as a default filename - The user can change it to other file name.Press ‘Start’ when the adjustment is finished.

    2. If you want to upload the satellite file list to the PC, select the [UPLOAD SAT LIST] onthe menu of [USB PORT SETUP] of the analyzer. Select the [UPLOAD PROJECT] if youwant to upload the project file list.

    3. The transmission is started and the LED of remote mode on the analyzer is blinking.

    4. On the Hyper Terminal screen, if the “END OF LIST” is shown for the uploading ofsatellite file list and “END OF PROJECT” is displayed for the uploading of the project filelist, the transmission is completed.

    5. In order to saving the file to the PC, on the Hyper Terminal screen, click the [Transfer]쮡 [Capture Text] 쮡 [Stop]. Then the “END OF LIST” “END OF PROJECT” are displayedrespectively on the PC monitor, and the saving is completed.

    4-6-3. How to download the Satellite file list / LNB Configuration filelist / SW(Switch) Configuration file list from the PC to theAnalyzer

    1. In HyperTerminal, click on [Transfer (T)] 쮡 [Transfer Text file (T)] . A dialog boxappears where you can enter a filename and choose the folder where it will be saved.Select the file that you want to save and click “Open”.

    2. Select [USB PORT SETUP] and [DOWNLOAD LIST] in a sequence on the analyzer menu.

    3. The transmission is started and the LED of remote mode on the analyzer is blinking.
