Collaboration is a way that people work together. It is essential in an education

setting in order to reach a goal for students. Collaboration is a great way for people to work together in order to fulfi l l a common

goal. There are ways people can collaborate online with certain tools.

One of the most common tools used for collaboration is the Google Docs. It is

basically l ike Microsoft word but online and other people can view/edit the documents.

This will work great for teachers in special education. I think that a teacher could use a

collaborative online tool with parents. As students get older and gain an

understanding of online sources they could even be involved.

Research tools are onl ine sources to find information or answers to questions. There are many dif ferent

research tools, one of my favorite research tools would be google. I t is an online database that has a wide

range of knowledge and information.

An important fact to remember is that just because you find it on a network doesn’t mean that i t is from a

trusted resource. Many t imes Libraries provide databases that wil l benefit .

Research tools would benefit a chi ld with special needs learning in the ways that i t would provide them with accurate information, apps can be downloaded that are research tools for the iPad/iPod, and there are many other advantages. There are some search

engines that have a step by step procedure that would make researching for special needs easier. Another

aspect that would help special needs students would be the keyword/title search box, i t al lows the students to modify and simplify their f indings, making it easier

to find what they need.

Video tools are programs that al low you to either make or upload a video in order to view it .

There are many dif ferent programs that al low you to view videos, one of the most popular

programs would be youtube, they let you create, upload, and watch videos. The downfal l

to youtube is that i t is extremely broad and easy to get distracted.

My favorite program to create videos with you be vimeo, i t is extremely easy and self explanatory. It also al lows you to share the video which would

be great for future reference.

This wil l al low students with special needs to be able to change the viewing sett ings, i t would

serve as a great motivator, st imulate learning, and with assistance(if needed) they

could al low students to create their own video!
