Computers can’t work with analog data.They do not recognize physical properties.

To have images mean anything to a computer, the electrical impulses must be converted into digital data—a series of 1s & 0s.

So, if we describe an image digitally - as raw numbers - we can work with the image in a computer.

Problem: it isn’t quite as simple as feeding numbers to the computer - the numbers have to be correct, if they are a little bit off, the image will look very wrong.
