Laptop ( Function and Definition)

• Definition: A Laptop is a small computer for mobile use. It has most of the same components of a desk computer. Laptops became very widely used for all sorts of purposes.

• Function: Same as computer, laptop can be used for social expressions, fun & education.

Kinds of Laptops• Full-size laptop: A regular, modern full-size

laptop that is large enough with a full-size keyboard and has wide screens.

• Netbook: A small, portable laptop, but less features.

• Tablet PC: A laptop that can rotate 180 degrees. Available at touch screen.

Typewriter

• Definition: Typewriter is a mechanical with keys that, when pressed, cause words to be automatically printed on a medium, usually paper. One character is printed per key press, and the machine prints the word by making ink impressions. • Function: A typewriter can be used for typing and printed on a paper, it was usually used due to the neatness when printed, and make typing easier and quicker.

Why Laptop is classified as Digital Media?

• Laptops are digital media because: - Some laptops can be shut down by

putting the screen to the keyboard. - We can just press few icons/

keyboard characters to do what we exactly want.

- We can skip icons and can just go automatically.

Why typewriter is classified as Non-digital media?

• Typewriter was classified as a non-digital media because:

- If we want to type, other things than the keyboard has to be pressed can’t be skipped in order to type what you exactly want.

-We can’t just type the typewriter by any means, you have to scroll, press, and it can’t store information.

Comparison

• Similarities: - They can be typed by pressing the

characters in the “keyboard”. - They can be printed by a medium,

usually paper. - They can make new information if

you typed them.

Comparison

• Differences: -Typewriters can be automatically

printed, while laptops not. - Laptops use electricity, while

typewriters use a special kind of ink. -Typewriters don’t have screens, while

each laptops have.
