The fact that the O in the word losers has been spray painted over so that it says lasers. This could be done because the idea of spray painting is seen as a more anti establishment idea. The newly formed letter also bares a big similarity to the anarchist symbol and this is backed up by a certain persona that Lupe Fiasco has as he is known as a very political and outspoken artist. Also as an artist known exactly for that being very arty with his music and his videos the cover itself comes across very much so almost as an art instillation.

The name of the album lasers is a lot bigger than the artists name and this is seemingly used to show that the music is more important than the actual artist himself. Showing how important the music is especially from an artist known for his storytelling and lyrics.

FRONT COVER

The back ground itself is very plain and simple, using a very dull colour system with what comes across as very unorganized wires strewn across the floor which makes it look very natural and doesn’t draw attention to it as it makes it almost very simple. This was probably done to draw more attention to the lights and graffiti making them the focal point of the album cover and the bit that makes the statement that they want to be key, whilst making it different and not to plain. This almost reflects the artists self confidence that he feels that he doesn’t have to try that hard almost.

BACK COVER

The back cover continues on from the front cover in that it just uses the plain floor and the wall combination with the unorganized wires. Which gives the very minimalist effect whist still having meaning and showing something.

His name is almost hidden in the corners of the cover and this emphasizes the fact that the album is all about the music. This is a key feature to the whole of the back cover a simplistic element that attracts the audience to lack of extravagance.

There is continuity with the rest of the album cover in that it almost flows from the front cover as if your just looking slightly further around the scene being portrayed on the front and this is key as it gives a very organized feel. They probably do this as part of a story that keeps the audience guessing what the relevance of the background is.

The colour scheme also continues on from the front cover with the plain backgrounds, white writing and the red trim. The white writing is almost clinical and simple not wanting to draw attention to it. But on the back the red trim is used as a divider rather than to make a point here it merely splits the songs. The colour scheme is used to continue the continuity and almost smarten the album up. That is also a thing that comes through with is that its almost a smart organized chaos.

THE CD

The CD itself is plain white with the a single red line going through it that has a dripping paint effect to it. The same as that of the Anarchist symbol on the front of the album cover.

The colour scheme that was in use throughout the rest of the album is continues as the writing that is used is the very dull dark colour and the white and red are still there. The red is used to capitalize and make stand out the first letter of a certain sequence of words and the red letters spell out the album title LASERS. The mystery surrounding the name was used as a selling point as well to get the consumer interested in the product itself.

The album is called lasers and the outside of the digipak gives away no clues as to why its called this almost being very aloof about it. But its almost once you open it up the CD explains its all it stands for ‘Love Always Shines Everytime Remember 2 Smile’ and this is a very bright and happy message from an album cover that could easily be described as not overly cheerful and it’s a message of joy from an artist that seems to be aiming for a better society and this is one of the reasons that he is trying to portray this image by doing this on the CD.
