The Killers- Human

This CD cover simply shows a face showing little emotion yet the varied surface skin consisting of small circles on the cover challenges the concept of human. This makes the CD unique, its unconventional style is individual compared to other CDs from other bands. The simplistic neutral colours helps the face stand out and be the key feature of the cover, the image links in with the title forming a complete picture.

Analysis of the CD coverMuch like the other released singles and albums by the Killers, the title font

remains the same keeping a consistent pattern amongst all the tracks. The title only varies in the colour and size, however the font which is made of many circles remains the same being the main consistent feature throughout all of the media distributed for the Killers. It is rare that the members of the band are seen on these covers as they reflect the lyrics of the song and the meaning of them rather than attracting an audience due to the members but the consistent font throughout and use of circles help people to instantly recognise them.

These lyrics are from the song, human. It links in with the CD cover, the human face is not clear as a normal photograph is, this also links in with the comments made on how the covers are based more upon the lyrics and the meanings.

The environment being a desert could represent the loss of identity of the isolation felt by the singer and the need to find answers, this may also be reinforced with the vast space with little around showing the lack of knowledge he has for his questions. The establishing shots show there is no one around other than them and the bird flying across in one shot could show how everyone even the animals are alone there. Referring to the beginning of the video, the K lit up represents the Killers, yet even this is not the full name again representing the lack of information also showing the singers thoughts and questions. Often, smoke is seen in the video showing the inability to visualise everything. Circles are commonly seen in the video again like seen in the posters etc. for example, the lights are circular and in the final shot, the scene turns into circles much like the scenes on CD covers.

Poster

This poster is for the single, human. The same font as in all other songs, because it is slightly different, this will then make people more interested which is the key idea. The people within the poster do not appear in human form, more of a cartoon again reinforcing the question of are we human or are we denser?
