Great News for Cyprus“AT A MARATHON session that started at 10:30 amand lasted until late on Monday night 28th July, theBank of Cyprus (BoC) board of directors announcedthe successful private placement of 4.17 billion ofnew ordinary shares at a price of 24 cents per share,for a total capital raising of €1 billion.

“The shares were allocated to a broad range ofinstitutional investors from Europe, North Americaand Russia, including a number of internationalinvestors introduced by WL Ross & Co LLC and theEuropean Bank for Reconstruction andDevelopment,” the bank said in a statement.

BoC CEO John Hourican said that “the success of the private placing demonstratesthe confidence that international institutional investors have in the bank’sturnaround and the economic recovery in Cyprus, only a year after the bank exitedresolution status.”
