The rep from the council would of come to the meeting had he known, the messagewas not passed on to him correctly. His name is Andrew Rounds and he will come tothe meeting next month. JT asked him about the Park and the Derelict buildings inthe area which he said he would discuss at the next meeting.

Sarah Royal from FOHP committee will not be attending meetings however the old

headmaster from Calthorpe School was also heavily involved and will speak with us.The Heritage Lottery bid was turned down, however there should be £125000-£150000 towards developing play areas for the kids in park and this will be donethrough liaising with local schools.

Noted that the park needs lighting desperately.Residents need to keep on top of it to get their voices heard.

There is a response on the blog from Joe which is well worth a read before themeeting on 10 th Feb.

St Patricks Day Parade

Residents still heard nothing about passes for the day. Kent (Events Manager) saidforms will be sent out a couple of weeks before the parade and the Police have beenvolunteered to deliver them. If you don’t need to move your car on the day thatwould be preferable however if you do then these passes will be available before theevent. Roads will be blocked from 6am-7pm.Adam will circulate notices for Kent.Kent discussed the Parade moving in a new direction as a community event for theIrish but also for the whole of Birmingham. We currently get 50,000-100,000spectators over the day. There will be a gradual change over the next few years e.g.floats should be more of a spectacle this year, live music stage on Bradford Streetwith acts such at The destroyers/Scarlett Harletts, Custard Factory to become EmeraldVillage which will be a family friendly area with picnic tables/magicians/clowns/kidskaraoke/freestyle footballer/freestyle basketball etc..Trying to encourage more people to support the parade.

Website is available for more info and links at stpatricksbirmingham.com

Adam- there is access to a builder’s truck for the day for the residents to have their own float, any ideas for this to Adam asap. The truck will not be available until thesat morning – can have people on the float as well. Want the float to promote thevibrancy of Digbeth.Kent said Rainbow and probably the Custard Factory would be willing to help withthe floatAdam would like as many ideas as possible – his email is [email protected] Kent states that there is a float meeting at the Irish Club on Thursday 5 th Feb

AOB No grit bins in Digbeth area and road have been terrible – desperately needed, especially on Cheapside/Moseley Street and Bradford Street. Kate to contact PhilBrook at BCC.
