Project  Objectives:  The  objective  of  this  Project  is  to  complete  the  Standards  for  rice  and  its  packaging,  including  the  codes  of  good  practices  for  Cambodian  rice  products.  The  following  objectives  will  also  be  attained:  (i)  Improve  the  capacity  of  the  national  conformity  assessment  body  for  rice;    and  (ii)  promote  and  disseminate  the  information  on  rice  standards  and  its  conformance  to  international  standards.  

Outcomes:  Alignment  of  the  Cambodian  national  standards  for  rice  with  international  standards.      

Results  Indicator:  (i) Enhanced  system  of  certification  schemes  of  the  Institute  

of  Standards  of  Cambodia,  specifically  for  rice,  in  conformity  with  international  accreditation  system.  

(ii) Local  producers  of  rice  have  greater  access  to  foreign  markets  for  meeting  international  standards.  

(iii) Government  officials  dealing  with  standards  on  rice  have  adequate  capacity  to  perform  the  roles  mandated  by  the  national  law.

Outputs:  (i)  New  sets  of  standards  ,  guidelines,  and  code  of  good  practices  developed,  specifically  for  rice.    (ii)  Review  of  Food  Safety  Management  System  Certification  Scheme  of    Rice  for  export.    (iii)  Establishment  of  a  Scheme  for  Voluntary  Quality  Control  and  Inspection  of  Rice  for    Export.
