“A theme common, but not limited to, the Greek - Australian migrants in whose collective psyche reverberates the music and songs of nostalgia, passion, love, loss and leaving Greece.
Paul Sanoulis, a graduate of the renowned Musician’s Institute of Hollywood California, is the artistic inspiration behind the Diaspora concept. He has accompanied leading Greek and other composers including Theodorakis, Policandriotis, Nikolopoulos and other well known
artists both on stage and in the studio. Although he lives in Perth he spends much of his time performing in Greece. Paul has selected a number of Greek classics which evoke the Diaspora - the music of lost love and leaving home theme and which were especially arranged
for performance with a combination of traditional Greek and classical string instruments.
Perth will also be treated to the performance of three original compositions by a well known Greek - American musician and composer Peter Deneff of Los Angeles USA.
The string quartet that will perform the compositions called the Three Greek Dances will include our very own Christina Katsimbardis on first violin, who will lead both a quartet and
quintet of some of Western Australia’s finest performing classical string artists.
Apart from cameo performances by Paul and Christina, there will also be contemporary and jazz musicians Kerry Panara (accordion), Chris Travaglini (soprano sax) and another ten local
musicians as well as a special interstate guest performing artist.
This will be a unique musical and artistic experience. Well known and original music will be performed by a blend of traditional and classically trained exponents of their art.
For Perth this will be a first in terms of the concept, content and quality.”
