County Champions! County Final season is upon us, and the past weekend saw the crowning
of three clubs as County Champions: Youghal (Premier Intermediate

who put together back-to-back Senior Football titles with victory over
Nemo Rangers.

Our next big day is the County Senior Hurling Final on October 27th, but
there’s still a lot of Championship action to come before then, not to
mention our League Finals - see www.gaacork.ie for the full programme
of fixtures.
Cork GAA Clubs’ Draw 2013/14 The 22nd annual Cork GAA Clubs Draw Series is now underway, with the
first two draws taking place at the end of October.
The Cork GAA Clubs’ Draw plays an important role in the financing of
Cork Clubs, the promotion and development of the county Coaching and
Games Development structures and the County Board Grounds
Development Fund.
A minimum €45 out of every €100 ticket sold is returned to the club of
the purchaser. Clubs throughout Cork have benefitted by €18 million
since the Draw began in 1992. The draw fund also plays a huge role in
funding the county’s Coaching and Games Development Strategy. Each
year €275,000 is spent on projects that are part of our Strategy Plan.
These projects include Games Promotions, Developments Squads and
grants to Under-Age and Schools and Third Level bodies. For more
information, contact your local GAA club or Contact the Draw Office at (021) 4291122, [email protected].

County Board Report The County Board Meeting of October 16th ratified the appointment of Brian
Cuthbert (Bishopstown) as Cork Senior Football manager for a two-year
term. He will appoint his own selectors, to be announced in due course.
The meeting also ratified former Minor Hurling manager, Pat Kenneally
(Newcestown), as U21 Hurling Manager, with Alan Browne (Blackrock),
John Hodgins (St. Finbarr's), Damien Irwin (Killeagh) and Ger O'Halloran
(Ballinhassig) as selectors.
The process of appointing a Minor Hurling manager is still ongoing, and the
Executive was authorised to ratify any appointment that might arise before
the next meeting on November 19th.
The format of the County Championships was debated, and following a
series of votes, the current format was retained for a further two years;
the only change being that Divisions and Colleges will now play off in a
straight knockout competition before joining the main Championship. A
vote on the structure of the Hurling Leagues was deferred as the Senior
Hurling Clubs had sought a meeting with the CCC.
The latest report from Central Council was discussed, and support was
expressed for the new Allianz Hurling League proposal which will be voted on at the next Central Council meeting.
