Working for disarmament and peace by reducing dependence on finite resources and calling for the elimination of all nuclear weapons.  

Creating a toxin free future with safer alternatives to hazardous chemicals in today's products and manufacturing.

  Campaigning for sustainable agriculture by encouraging socially and ecologically

responsible farming practices.

Corporate practices are fostering policies such as trade liberalization that, in turn, not only harm the environment, but undermine poverty alleviation.

Prognostic Change will only be realized by exposing the negative impacts of multinational

corporations.

To expose global environmental problems, and to force the solutions which are essential to a green and peaceful future.

Motivational “Bearing Witness” The practice of observing the unjust action so as to be aware of

what occurred and to take responsibility for that knowledge rather than maintaining ignorance.

Organizational Structure

Formal Organization: International NGO

Greenpeace consists of Greenpeace International and officially operates as “Stichting Greenpeace Council” based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

28 regional offices operating in 45 countries.

Greenpeace has a paid staff of 2,400 and 15,000 volunteers globally.

FUNDING

Greenpeace receives its funding from individual supporters and foundations.

The organization does not accept money from governments, intergovernmental organizations, political parties or corporations in order to avoid their influence.

In 2008, most of the €202.5 million received by the organization was donated by about 2.6 million regular supporters, mainly from Europe.

“Our core values are reflected in our environmental campaign work: We 'bear witness' to environmental destruction in a peaceful, non-violent manner. We use non-violent confrontation to raise the level

and quality of public debate. In exposing threats to the environment and finding solutions we have no permanent allies or adversaries.

We ensure our financial independence from political or commercial interests. We seek solutions to environmental dilemmas and

promote open, informed debate about society's environmental choices.”
