Who is the skeleton who accompanies the girl?
4. Watch the film to the end.

anything back with her?
b) Explain how the girl’s feelings change from the start to the
end.
Answers
(Please note that you may have written other sensible answers as
well. These are just examples of what you may have written.)
1. Prediction (there are no wrong answers ☺).
2. Yes, the skeletons are friendly as they play cheerful music,
dance, give the girl food and smile a lot.
3. The skeleton who accompanies the girl is her mother.
4.
a) The girl brought back the flower that her mother gave her
so she wasn’t imagining it.
b) Pupil’s own response. They might talk about the girl being
sad and lonely by her mother’s grave at the start. Being
scared when meeting the skeletons at first but then
becoming happy as she danced and played with them. Even
though she misses her mother at the end, she is pleased she
got the chance to spend more time with her and leaves
smiling and dancing.
What Is the London Marathon? The London Marathon is a long-distance running race. Runners from around the world come to take part in the route around London which is 26 miles and 385 yards long. Runners are cheered on by crowds of spectators and are treated to many famous sites in London, such as Tower Bridge.

The London Marathon
Because the London Marathon is a challenge, many people choose to run for a charity and raise money for a good cause. Sometimes, they run the course in fancy dress.
Where Did the Idea of a Marathon Come From?In Greek history, there is a legend that tells of a Greek soldier who was sent from the battlefield of Marathon to Athens with the news that Greece had won the battle. It is said that the soldier ran the entire distance without stopping, bursting into the assembly with his good news before collapsing and dying. The organisers of the modern Olympics chose this legend to make the running race popular.

Story starter!
For the last few days, they had been falling from the sky. Nobody knew where they had come from; nobody knew why they were there.
The mysterious objects, most of them spherical in shape, lay there on the beach, motionless, immovable despite the tide’s best efforts to eradicate them from the shoreline.
Then, a crack began to appear on the surface…

Question time!
Where might these objects have come from?
Why is the surface of the nearest object cracking?
What is inside the objects? Are all of the objects the same?
What will happen next?
If you came across one of these, how would you react?
Do these objects remind you of anything?
Why have these objects landed on the beach? Is it by chance or is it deliberate?
