Ok, well a funny thing happened on the way to California, We missed the plain!! UGH!!! Man what a day that was!!! But praise GOD we got there the next day. Sami & Aaron shbeeb made it there without a hitch, Figures.. LOL :) Our plan ride was ok, my kids loved the plain ride and the movie was not bad. Since we where a day behind schedule we had to rush to the hotel room and unpack for the CEI training. It was suppose to start at 12 pm our plain landed at 11:am but they push back the training till 3pm. That was SO awesome. So when we got there we where

in AWE…… we were around the top Instructors in the country and abroad. Instructors from all around the world like Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland just to name a few. Our training got right in to it no time wasted at all.

Sami & Aaron Shbeeb went right at it with the trapping. Look at these guys go. The first day of CEI training was direct and to the point. We worked on the R.A.T. and focused on functionalizing the technique. We learned a lot of useful things and mind set. We worked the trap and then entry’s to the head butts, elbows and knee’s Strikes.

2 Chlorophyll is the first product of light and, therefore, contains more light enethan any other element. 3 Wheatgrass juice is a crude chlorophyll and can be taken orally and as a colon implant without toxic side effects. 4 Chlorophyll is the basis of all plant life. 5 Wheatgrass is high in oxygen like all grebrain and all body tissues function at an optimal level in a highly-oxygenated environment. 6 Chlorophyll is anti-bacterial and can be used inside and outside the body ashealer. 7 Dr. Bernard Jensen says that it only takes minutes to digest wheatgrass juice and uses up very little body energy. 8 Science has proven that chlorophyll arrests growth and development of unfriendly bacteria. 9 Chlorophyll (wheatgrass) rebuilds the bloodstream. Studies of various animals have shown chlorophyll to be free of any toxic reaction. The red cell count was returned to normal within 4 to 5 days of the administration of chlorophyll, even in those animals which were known to be extremely anemic or low in red cell count. 10 Farmers in the Midwest who have sterile cows and bulls put them on wheatgrasto restore fertility. (The high magnesium content in chlorophyll builds enzymes that restore the sex hormones.) 11 Chlorophyll can be extracted from many plants, but wheatgrass is superior because it has been found to have over 100 elements needed by man. If grownorganic soil, it absorbs 92 of the known 102 minerals from the soil. 12 Wheatgrass has what is called the grass-juice factor, which has been shown to keep herbivorous animals alive indefinitely. 13 Dr. Ann Wigmore has been helping people get well from chronic disorders for 30 years using wheatgrass. 14 Liquid chlorophyll gets into the tissues, refines them and makes them over.

other fruits and vegetables. Dr Earp-Thomas, associate of Ann Wigmore, says that 15 pounds of Wheatgrass is the equivalent of 350 pounds of carrot, lettuce, celery, and so forth. 16 Liquid chlorophyll washes drug deposits from the body. 17 Chlorophyll neutralizes toxins in the body. 18 Chlorophyll helps purify the liver. 19 Chlorophyll improves blood sugar problems. 20 In the American Journal of Surgery (1940), BeThe article suggests the following clinical uses for chlorophyll: to clear up foul smelling odors, neutralize strep infections, heal wounds, hasten skin grafting, cure chronic sinusitis, overcome chronic inner-ear inflammation and infection, reduce varicose veins and heal leg ulcers, eliminate impetigo and other scabby eruptions, heal rectal sores, successfully treat inflammation of the uterine cervix, get rid of parasitic vaginal infections, reduce typhoid fever, and cure advanced pyorrhein many cases. 21 Wheatgrass Juice cures acne and even removes scars after it has been ingested for seven to eight months. The diet must be improved at the same time. 22 Wheatgrass juice acts as a detergent in the body and is used as a body deodorant.

Page 4: DGCFS-Iusse14

23 A small amount of wheatgrass juice in the human diet prevents tooth decay. 24 Wheatgrass juice held in the mouth for 5 minutes will eliminate toothaches. It pulls poisons from the gums. 25 Gargle Wheatgrass Juice for a sore throat. 26 Drink Wheatgrass Juice for skin problems such as eczema or psoriasis. 27 Wheatgrass Juice keeps the hair from graying. 28 Pyorrhea of the mouth: lay pulp of wheatgrass soaked in juice on diseased area in mouth or chew wheatgrass, spitting out the pulp. 29 By taking Wheatgrass Juice, one may feel a difference in strength, endurance, health, and spirituality, and experience a sense of well-being. 30 Wheatgrass juice improves the digestion. 31 Wheatgrass juice is high in enzymes. 32 Wheatgrass juice is an excellent skin cleanser and can be absorbed through the skin for nutrition. Pour green juice over your body in a tub of warm water and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse off with cold water. 33 Wheatgrass implants (enemas) are great for healing and detoxifying the colon walls. The implants also heal and cleanse the internal organs. After an enema, wait 20 minutes, then implant 4 ounces of wheatgrass juice. Retain for 20 minutes. 34 Wheatgrass juice is great for constipation and keeping the bowels open. It is high in magnesium. 35 Dr. Birscher, a research scientist, called chlorophyll "concentrated sun power." He said, "chlorophyll increases the function of the heart, affects the vascular system, the intestines, the uterus, and the lungs." 36 According to Dr. Birscher, nature uses chlorophyll (wheatgrass) as a body cleanser, rebuilder, and neutralizer of toxins. 37 Wheatgrass juice can dissolve the scars that are formed in the lungs from breathing acid gasses. The effect of carbon monoxide is minimized since chlorophyll increases hemoglobin production. 38 Wheatgrass Juice reduces high blood pressure and enhances the capillaries. 39 Wheatgrass Juice can remove heavy metals from the body. 40 Wheatgrass juice is great for blood disorders of all kinds

(TO GET THE FULL BENEFIT OF CHLOROPHYLL IT MUST BE FROM A LIVING PLANT.)

Bigger? Stronger? No Problem!

Part 1 Can’t Breathe Can’t Fight This article was inspired by last month’s issue which featured the self-defense seminar in honor of Mrs. Sabrina Pina. It made me start thinking of all the ladies in my life that I have taught and am teaching how to protect themselves from predators in our concrete jungle. The techniques I’m about to demonstrate might be utterly basic for a lot of folks, but that’s actually what I’m hoping for, if for nothing else, but for the fact I want someone to read this and realize there is a way out of a bad situation without an extensive knowledge of fancy martial arts nonsense. First let’s start off by covering the “why” question. Why do you need to learn how to protect yourself? The answer for me, and what I tell all my students, is simple and straight to the point-- YOUR LIFE IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR! No one is ever too useless, too hopeless, or not worthy of life. If you have a life, than guess what? You’re worthy of living! If someone preys upon you to take that away from you, they are WRONG! You have to believe this first part without a doubt, or you’ll slack off in training which means you’ll slack off in a real encounter, in turn that will get you beat up or killed. Now let’s get into the

nitty-gritty of what to do against an advisory that is bigger and stronger than you. Whether you’re a woman, child, or even a man this scenario is common and always the worst one to be in. Every time I fought someone, they were bigger than me and stronger than me. I had to learn how to out think them and devastate them as fast as possible, which meant knowing

how to move and what targets to hit. A common saying amongst those who know

anything about fighting is very easy to learn; if the person can’t see they can’t fight, if the person can’t breathe they can’t fight, if the person can’t walk or move they can’t fight. Just three things to remember and these three things show the vital targets you’re looking for when you’re fighting a bigger and stronger opponent in a life-or-death situation.

Mike Reis Founder of Triune Fist System. 27 years of M.A. experience. Inside D.G.C.F.S. PFS Seminar 1 Ronald’s Fitness Corner 2 Coming events 4 Bigger stronger no problem 5 Airsoft Products 7 Cont. Let’s start with, “if they can’t see they can’t fight.” This clearly indicates the eyes in some form or fashion, the trick is to get to the eyes. That means the person is very close to you and you have to reach his eyeballs with your, thumbs, fingers, or teeth (I’m

not playing nice or by the rules for this area.) Here’s a simple move to get to his eyes and immobilize him.

1) The attacker approaches Ms. Haley and invades her space. Her hands are up giving him verbal commands to stop his approach. 2) The attacker continues to advance and reaches out for her; she shoots her lead hand forward with an eye jab while covering with her other hand. 3) The attackers head snaps back giving a full spinal reflex thrusting his hips forward; she front snap kicks to the groin. 4) The attacker reacts with another full spinal reflex toward her, where she grabs the hair (or ears shown) and twists his head sideways and delivers a knee to the face. 5) Keeping hold of the hair (or ears shown) Ms. Haley steps backward pulling the attacker down and dropping him facing the ground where she kicks and runs.

Page 5

Page 7: DGCFS-Iusse14

Hopefully you can see all the variables in each scene and how they all can come together for and efficient way to taking out someone bigger and stronger than you, without attempting to out do something which won’t happen in that scenario and that’s overpowering them. Remember to leave the scene; if you haven’t left the scene you haven’t done it all correctly. Remember to train smart and be safe, and that YOU’RE WORTH

FIGHTING FOR! I want to thank Ms. Haley Whelan, my Young Leader assistant, and Mr. Anthony Macky, my Adult Leader assistant, for their time and help. Haley is on my young adult instructor track where she learns to demo, teach the young children, and helps me in class and is doing an amazing job. Anthony is on the instructor track where he learns a bit more and is being taught how to help teach both the adults and young children’s class. He too is going great.

The Dangers of Edged Weapons

‘When should you deploy one in Self Defense?.

It’s late at night and you are walking to your vehicle after attending a meeting that took longer than expected. As you are walking down the side walk, a man approaches you and asks you for directions to a local bar. As you attempt to tell him, he charges without warning. He attacks vigorously and violently. You feel multiple hits to your face, chest and to your sides. You attempt to deploy your pistol or knife as you feel another rapid succession of hits to your sides and arms and back. These hits are inflicting sharp pains, and they are now preventing you from getting to and using your weapon, but you keep fighting to get your weapon into the fight. The fight continues for only several seconds, but seems like a life time. You feel yourself getting light headed and it is becoming harder to see and worse yet, very hard to keep your balance. You realize that your arms and legs are not responding the way you want them to as you keep attempting to get to your weapon, so you can stop further injury. Light headed and horrified, you collapse onto the ground numb from your injuries and your world slowly darkens. Your body is going into shock because of the large amount of blood you have lost caused by an edged weapon that you did not see, anticipate nor stop. Your world goes black…. __________________________________________________________________

Unfortunately, realistic scenarios such as the one described above are rarely discussed, nor are the escapes practiced in today’s gyms or dojos. It is my opinion that today’s defensive community is plagued with a lot of unrealistic training. Students are rarely told the real dangers of edged weapons and many instructors teach theories and techniques that look great in the gym or dojo but are simply ineffective in real life street fights. One of these theories is, that when attacked and you are carrying a knife for self defense, that you must do everything you can to deploy and use that knife to stop the attack’. This can be very dangerous, even fatal. In the real world and on our streets, attacks are unpredictable, fast and very dangerous. We need to face these facts when we train. Most criminals carry some kind of weapon as this gives them a great advantage. Many criminals prefer edged weapons, and for many good reasons. Knifes are easy to conceal, easy to get, extremely dangerous and they do not need to be in the hands of a skilled fighter to kill. A thirteen year old kid with a stolen stake knife from a local restaurant can easily

kill you.

Ron Lauinger is a full time combatives specialist and can be

reached at www.LMIInc.Com or 585-200-4000. Inside D.G.C.F.S. PFS Seminar 1 Ronald’s Fitness Corner 2 Coming events 4 Bigger stronger no problem 5 Airsoft Products 7 Cont. PFS Seminar 8 Dangers of edge weapons 13 The Karambit 15 Mr.Hatchett 16 Tai chi chuan 17 Good places to go 18

When attacked, chances are you will not realize that the attacker has a knife until it is too late. It is a fact that most victims of knife attacks never seen an edged weapon and most thought they were simply being punched. In low and in no light environments, an 8 inch knife can easily be concealed in the open because of the many shades and shadows that the darkness brings. An attacker using an edged weapon can quickly incapacitate you. Example: an unskilled person can deliver 2-3 cuts and/or 2-3 stabs per second. Each cut/stab can be life threatening if a vital organ is damaged, or a large vein or artery is severed. In reality, this means that a non-skilled attacker can inflict 4-6 life threatening injuries in less than two seconds. Now, imagine the injuries that a semi-skilled or skilled fighter can inflict within the same two seconds. Even if a vital organ, main vein or artery isn’t damaged, an edged weapon easily severs muscles, ligaments, tenants and nerves. If these items are damaged or destroyed, there is a good chance you will lose mobility of your arms, legs and fingers. If you can’t stand, you can’t run, and if you can’t use your hands, you can’t punch or use a weapon of your own. Now that I have painted a mental picture of the dangers of an actual street attack, many students are being told that they have to get to their knife, or other ‘weapon of advantage’ in order to survive the attack. Students believe that this ‘weapon of advantage’ is a secret talisman, and that once you get to it, the bad guy will stop attacking you. This belief will get you killed. If you get surprised by an attacker with a knife, you are already loosing the fight. He has forced you to react to the attack. Now, you have to stop thinking about what was happening, think about what is happening and then you have to decide what you are going to do about it. If you decide that you are going to deploy your knife you are going to have to: Orientate yourself; Reach down and acquire your folding knife (which is still closed); Orientate the knife in your hands so you can open it, and then you can use it if you don’t drop it during the deployment.

Page 13

Page 15: DGCFS-Iusse14

During training, deployment of a blade and getting the blade into the fight can easily take three to four seconds. However, under duress; this process can easily take 15-20 seconds. Once your knife is in hand and ready to use, you still have to use it and you still have to inflict enough damage to your attacker so that he/she stops attacking you. This can easily take several minutes. During this entire time of ‘stopping the attack’ you are receiving more life threatening injuries. Knifes are a great defensive tool, however, they will not immediately stop someone unless you can accurately target his/her structural system (Muscles, Ligaments and Tendons) or their nervous system. Accurately targeting a specific target on your attacker will be near impossible as your attacker, or attackers, will be moving violently and with intent. You can easily be killed within two to three seconds. You may not be dead within two or three seconds, but you can receive enough injuries to quickly incapacitate you and kill you within 20-30 seconds. With this said, if you do not immediately address and stop the attack within two to three seconds, there is a high probability that you may not survive the attack. When attacked, you will need 100% of your focus and energy in stopping the attack using your hands, arms, elbows, knees, feet and what ever else you can get into the fight immediately. If you can not stop the attack because you are out numbered or out skilled and you need your knife to stop the attack, it is imperative that you make distance between you and your attacker first. This distance will give you the time you need to deploy your knife without receiving further injury. Only if you can make this distance should you attempt to deploy your knife. When we train, we must train to survive today’s streets. Training should be full of surprises. Students should train under duress and under street like conditions (low light, wet, late at night, etc.,) and they should attack each other with speed and determination so they can experience what works, and what doesn’t. As the ole saying goes ‘Only Perfect Practice makes perfection’ By Mr. Lauinger.

Page 14

Page 16: DGCFS-Iusse14

“The Karambit: Why it’s so friggin cool!” Now I could go into a history lesson of cross cultures and disciplines in reference to the karambit’s origins and development telling you where it came from, its place in history, so on and so forth. But I won’t cause, well frankly I don’t care and if you want to know well Google it, cause all I know is that this weapon looks awesome and is a blast to utilize. The karambit just looks menacing. Let’s say someone deploys a karambit, not only do they look really cool doing it but the curvature of the blade just looks…well bad ass. Like it will hurt a lot (oh and it does) since the correct curvature of the blade will tear flesh upon entry and once you catch bone you have a nifty little handle to torque and pluck that little baby right out of there. Um… this also hurts by the way. The blade curvature can give an untrained person an advantage over a standard blade due to the tearing and pain felt by the recipient. Let me explain; typically in a live scenario you have adrenaline dumping with an increase in epinephrine thus eliminating sensation or pain stimuli temporarily. So, slicing with a standard knife may or may not be felt, as opposed to a karambit which rips and tears on entry whether you skilled or not… so yeah people tend to feel that. So, if your aggressor does not feel the pain then they are still an aggressor. Now let’s say someone pulls a regular ol’ straight knife, yeah sounds pretty dull (pun really not intended) as opposed to the karambit, let me ask you this, if given the choice which would you rather defend against? My choice - the plain ol’ knife, which has no retention ring to prevent you from disarming it via strips or percussion hits. These techniques do not typically fair well with a karambit as the retention ring prevents this from happening. If your hand opens you simply close it to retain the knife as it is held in place by your index finger. So you try to strip it, well good luck cause with minimal wrist movement the karambit can be maneuvered in such a way to wreak havoc by flowing around defenses such as grabs, and locks, etc. as a matter of fact the karambit is ideal for hooking and grabbing the appendages for control and disruption of balance and impede movement. Once your close quarter with this weapon you can simply flow from target to target

with minimal effort weaving inside and outside of the body tearing flesh and chipping bone with very little resistance… well unless you have been taught a super secret technique only available from Evolution Fighting Systems called RAPID UNCONVENTONAL NEUTRALIZATION also known as RUN.
