Devins Drive News JUNE 2015 MESSAGE FROM YOUR ADMINISTRATOR I would like to take this opportunity to express what an honour it is to work with such dedicated staff, such committed students, amazing volunteers and the entire school community at Devins Drive. Thank you very much to each and every one of you! A special thank you to our School Council for their many contributions to the school. We look forward to your continued support and engagement next year. We had a wonderful turn out for our Volunteer Appreciation Assembly. It is just our way to say “Thank You” for all the wonder ful ways you help us with programs, fundraising activities and community events. Our Spring Fair was amazing with so many families and friends joining us! It was a pleasure to see all of our families together as a community enjoying the food and fun activities. These events could not happen without the steadfast dedication of our amazing School Council and the many volunteers who have spent countless hours collating orders, organizing games and activities, setting up, supervising stations, etc… These are memorable events our students, families and staff will remember for many years to come. Once again, thank you for joining us and thank you to our School Council and many volunteers for making this happen. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you very much to Mrs. Aird for her amazing dedication to the teaching profession and for her many years of service to educating students at Devins Drive. You have touched the lives of many students and will be fondly remembered by all. We wish you all the best in your retirement. I would also like to thank Mrs. Kingsbury very much for her dedication to the students, their families, our staff and the community members at Devins Drive. Your friendly face and kind, caring nature in our school office will be fondly remembered by all. We wish you all the best in your new job at Rick Hansen PS. Thank you very much to Mrs. Dane, EA, for your warm, caring manner in which you have worked with and supported the many students, their families and staff at Devins Drive. Your cheerful nature and friendly smile will be missed next year. We wish you all the best during your leave of absence. Thank you very much also to Mrs. Smolinski, DECE in Mrs. Pratt’s room. You have been a wonderful addition to our school over the past year, helping to support and enrich the lives of the many Kindergarten students at Devins Drive. We wish you all the best as you go on maternity leave next year. The school will reopen Monday, August 31, 2015. The office hours will be 8:15 am - 4:15 pm. The 2015-2016 school year will begin on Tuesday, September 8th. Have a safe and enjoyable summer. See you in September! S. Starting in September 2015, just like all other schools in York Region, supervision of stu- dents will be available 15 minutes before the start of the school day at Devins Drive P.S. As the official start time of our school day is 8:55 am, supervision will be available starting at 8:40 am. As such, families are asked to ensure that their child arrives at the school be- tween 8:40-8:55 am. Buses will also start to drop off the students at 8:40 am starting in September 2015. If your child takes a bus to school, please ensure that you check out their pick up/drop off times during the latter part of August at www.schoolbuscity.com . Upon arrival at the school, students are to proceed to the pavement area at the back of the school where they will be supervised until 8:55 am when the morning entry bell will ring. At 8:55 am, students will line up in preparation to enter the school under the supervision of our staff members. Please note that our start and end times will remain the same as they have in the past8:55 am3:25 pm. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE MOVING Help us plan ahead by informing us of your plans for next year. If you know that you will be moving and your children will be changing schools, please let us know as soon as possible.
