What is in this Visual Guide

This visual guide provides instructions for setting up and onboarding your child’s iPad for the iLearn BYO iPad Program for Year 4 students at Albany Creek State School.

Follow these instructions carefully to setup the iPad.

Do this at home before you arrive at school. The setup process cannot be done at school,

because an adult’s supervision is required.

iPad Program webpage here – for the Minimum DeviceRequirements, see “Student Resource Requirements”.

Have the Email address, MIS ID and Password provided to youby the school for your student.

A working Wi-Fi network or Personal Hotspot to setup the iPad. Preferably have a separate device that is connected to the

internet to watch the On-boarding setup video. Your Parent Apple ID, and Child Apple ID (with correct Date of

Birth) – see next page for instructions.

There are some important aspects relating to Apple ID that all families must adhere to.

For security reasons, your child must not use their parent/caregiver/guardian’s Apple ID. An Apple ID for your child is therefore required. As your child is aged under 13 years,

their date of birth must be correctly entered when creating their Apple ID. Each parent/caregiver/guardian will need their own Apple ID created with Apple before

setting up the iPad for their child using Family Sharing. More information about Apple ID can be found at our iLearn page here and

at Apple’s Apple ID website here. If the parent or caregiver (family organiser) has already successfully created an Apple ID

for your child, you may use this to setup the iPad. Otherwise either use the existing Apple ID of, or create a new Apple ID for the parent/caregiver first.

This second visual guide provides instructions for onboarding your child’s iPad for the iLearn BYO iPad Program for Year 4 students at Albany Creek State School.

Follow these instructions carefully.

by the school for your student during the Week 10 in Term 4. A working Wi-Fi network or Personal Hotspot to setup the iPad. Have a separate device that is connected to the internet to

watch the On-boarding setup video. The parent/guardian needs to have ready their own private

Parent iPad Passcode, but not disclose this to their Child.

To get your child’s BYO iPad ready for school, do the following.

1. Use your second internet-connected device (laptop or desktop computer, smart phone or other tablet device) to watch the setup video below. The video duration is 5 minutes.

2. Watch the Get your BYO iPad ready for school setup video (published by the Department of Education) and setup your iPad with Microsoft Intune as shown. During this process, use the Email address and Password supplied to you by the school.

3. Remember the correct app to get from the App Store is called Intune Company Portal.

Once the instructions in the video above are completed and the required school apps are downloaded, your child’s iPad is ready for school.

To get your child’s iPad ready for school with the required Apps, do the following.

1. Open the App Store app on your iPad.2. Click in the Search box at the top of the screen.3. Type the name of the App (e.g. Microsoft OneDrive) and click “Search”.4. Click GET to download the desired Apps. 5. There are three different app lists, one for Year 4 students,

one for Year 5 students, and one for Year 6 students.6. To access the app list for your student, click the link named “App lists” (linked here).
