Mission
The School of Computer Science & IT aspires to produce world-class professionals who have
excellent analytical skills, communication skills, team building spirit and ability to work in
cross-cultural environment. It promotes learning through teaching and creating & sharing
knowledge. The university provides world-class facilities and resources to its students and
faculty so as to produce international quality IT professionals, who can independently design,
develop and implement computer applications in business and scientific domain.
The School
School of Computer Science & Information Technology (SCS&IT) is a university teaching
department of Devi Ahilya University. The University is recently accredited ‘A’ Grade by
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), indicative of the assimilation of best
teaching-learning practices.

School of Computer Science and Information Technology was established in 1986 to promote
technical education and research in the important and fast growing branches of Information
Technology. The school has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty along with
excellent computing facilities and well-equipped laboratories for improving quality in education.
The up gradation of syllabus, curriculum, teaching days and adherence of academic calendar is
noteworthy peculiarity of the department. The school follows the best practices recommended by
National bodies for framing the new curriculum. The entire curriculum is available for the
students on website of the school. It has excellent track record of timely declaration of results.
The School follows an effective student feedback mechanism as well.
Department has eight computer laboratories. There is separate research laboratory for research
scholars. WiFi and cable internet is available in all the class rooms, library and laboratories.
The rapid change in the corporate world asks for proper communication skills in almost all kinds
of fields. UGC and AICTE also have strongly recommended enhancement of English Language
skills amongst students for better career prospects. Keeping this perspective school has
implemented an English language lab to enhance overall communication skills amongst students.

Departmental library is fully automated. Over 15,000 text books & reference books are available
in the library. Subscription to online journal is also available, which includes access to topmost
journals in computer science like ACM, IEEE & Elsevier. School has fetched several research
projects from MHRD, DST, and UGC. Overall, regular and continuous efforts are made to
progress towards academic excellence.
Placement
The encouraging learning environment of the school has created extensive subject knowledge
and also a sense of commitment and the value of hard work in the students. Emphasis is on
project based learning so as to improve employability. The efforts have resulted in excellent
placement of all the eligible students of the school in premier National and International software
companies. Top leading software companies visits the campus for recruitment, which are
planned and organized by the central placement cell of the university.

Student co-curricular activities
Co-curricular activities or extracurricular Activities help to develop various facets of the
personality development of the students. These are important aspects of an educational
institution to develop the students’ personality as well as to strengthen the classroom learning.
The school organizes various programs and functions to supplement the regular academic and
curricular activities. The School declares an academic and co-curricular activity calendar every
year, which is strictly adhered and complied.
Green Policy
The University’s Green University Policy is crafted to contribute in environment protection and
efficient use of energy. The objective is to develop and maintain clean, green and sustainable
campuses of Devi Ahilya University.
University is also dedicated to spread awareness towards energy conservation and environment
responsibility. It emphasizes on conservation of environmental resources, efficient usage of
resources and enhancement of resources for environmental conservation. The university aims to

reduce the generation of wastes in all possible manners and thus provides safe and healthy
environment for students and staff.
School of Computer Science & IT celebrates International Day of Climate Action on 24th
October every year.
AICTE approved M.Tech. Programmes
All M.Tech. programmes run by the school are AICTE approved. The Gate qualified students
taking admission in M.Tech. are eligible to receive stipend of Rs. 12000/- per month. Recently,
AICTE has launched an online portal to regularize the payment process and disburse the stipend
on time.
Discipline and Anti-Ragging
All candidates selected shall be subject to the disciplinary rules of the school and University.
Ragging, teasing, torturing or making nuisance in any way inside or outside the campus has been
declared as a serious offence. The Anti Ragging Committee of the school is authorized to take
strict action against the culprit indulging in ragging the newly admitted students / junior students.

If students are found guilty of ragging they are liable for punishment without prejudice as per
UGC anti-ragging regulation. No any ragging case has been filed in the school till date.

The Eligibility for each Programme is :
(1) BCA /BCA(Hons.)
XII with 50% marks and Mathematics as one of the compulsory subject.
(2) MCA
A candidate seeking admission to MCA programme should be a Graduate with at least 50%
marks and 45% marks in case of SC, ST, OBC (excluding Creamy Layer) category of
Madhya Pradesh in the aggregate of any UGC/AICTE approved Indian University or from a
foreign University recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) or institute
recognized by the concerned University as equivalent thereto. Recognized Bachelor’s degree
of minimum 3 Yrs duration with Mathematics at (10+2) level or at Graduate level.
(2) M. Sc. (CS)

B.C.A or B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons.) First Class with at least 50 % marks in aggregate with Maths
as a compulsory subject and any one of the following subjects: Computer Science,
Electronics, Physics, I.T., Computer Maintenance, Elex. Eqpt. Maint.
(3) M. Sc. (IT)
B.C.A or B.Sc. or B.Sc.(Hons.) with 50 % marks in aggregate with Maths as a compulsory
subject and any one of the following subjects: Computer Science, Electronics, Physics, I.T.,
Computer Maintenance, Elex. Eqpt. Maint. )
(4) MBA (CM) and PGDCA
Graduate in any discipline with 50% marks in aggregate.
(5) M.Tech.(Computer Science), M.Tech.(Information Architecture & Software
Engineering), M.Tech.(Network Management & Information Security) [2 years]
GATE qualified in CSE/ECE with 4 years of study at university level/ B.E./ B. Tech (CSE/
IT/ Comp. related subjects) / M.C.A/ M.Sc.(CS/IT) with 55 % marks in aggregate. Sponsored
candidates with minimum industrial/teaching experience of two years.
Admission Procedure
For MCA Programme
Through Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Madhya Pradesh.
For BCA Programmes
Admission will be based upon merit list, prepared after entrance test conducted by department.
The question paper in the entrance test will be of 50 minutes duration. It will have objective type
questions to test the aptitude & the logical ability of the student. The student will be required to
tick one of the four choices a, b, c, or d. The candidate will have to use blue or black ink ball
point pen for marking response in the response sheet. If the candidate uses any other colour ink
or leaves any mark of identification on the response sheet, he/she shall be disqualified from the

test. The question paper will be in English. The response sheet should be carefully filled up by
the candidate as instructed on the question-paper booklet.
The merit list will be prepared considering 50% weightage of the test and 50% weightage of
percentage of marks in XII standard for UG programmes
The syllabus and marks distribution of written test is as follows:
Class Syllabus
BCA Maths : XII level 30 questions
Aptitude: 30 questions
For M.Sc. (CS/IT), M.B.A. (CM) and PGDCA
Admission will be based upon merit list prepared on the basis of percentage of marks in I & II
year for PG programmes.
For M.Tech. Programmes
Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates for all the M.Tech. programmes.
However, if the seats are not filled up with GATE qualified candidates, non-GATE qualified and
sponsored candidates will be considered on the basis of written test conducted by the department.
A written test covering the core computer science subjects like, Programming, Database
management system, Computer Network & Computer Architecture will be conducted. An
interview will be taken after they qualify the written test.

Procedure for online submission of Application Forms
The student can directly visit the site https://mponline.gov.in for online application form
submission through credit card or visit the nearest kiosk (cyber café) authorized by MPonline for
the same. The kiosk will charge in cash, a processing fee as approved by government over and
above the application form fee of Rs. 750/- (In case of SC/ST Candidates, Rs. 400/-) charged by
the University. In all, the student will have to pay Rs. 450/- to the authorized kiosk (cyber café)
for submission of a single application form. For M.Tech. Programmes application form fee is Rs.
1000 (600/- for SC/ST applicants). The student can refer the site https://mponline.gov.in for the
list of kiosks authorized for form submission.
Other Instructions
Provisional admission will be given to students having supplementary in qualifying exam.
Age Limit
As per the directives of Government of Madhya Pradesh, There is no upper age limit for
admission to various programmes.

Instructions for ST/SC/OBC Candidates
Reservation of seats in courses offered by the University is in accordance with the policy of
Madhya Pradesh government. The benefits of reservation are available, only to the domiciles of
Madhya Pradesh.
The fees structure mentioned at our website is applicable for all the students. However,
for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) students partial fees amount is reimbursed from M.P. Tribal
Welfare Department as per M.P. Govt. rules and regulation after they apply and are eligible as
per M.P. Govt. guidelines.

Procedure for Refund/ Cancellation
The candidate should submit an application for cancellation along with original fee receipts.
He/She may retain the duplicate copy of the fee receipt before the last date of admission
announced by the university.
If any candidate leaves the course before the last counseling day the fee will be refunded to
him/her after deducting Rs. 1000/- of the fees deposited by him/her. Only caution money will be
refunded if a candidate leaves any course after the said date. Please note that request for refund
of fee will be processed in the University office and only after approval of the Govt. audit,
refund will be done. It will take some time. In cases where candidates have fetched an
undertaking to the effect that their admission may be deemed cancelled in case they fail to
produce their result of qualifying examination with required eligibility percentages by August
08, 2018, there will be no refund of fee deposited. Where a provisionally admitted student is
declared Fail, his/her fee deposited will be refunded after deducting Rs.1000/- of the fee
deposited.
Procedure for Interdepartmental Fee Transfer
A student can cancel admission in one department and take up admission in other department of
the university without any deduction of fee. The partial/full fees deposited in one department can
be transferred to other department. However, the student needs to submit the application to both
departments for cancellation (submit original fee receipt) as well as admission in other
department (submit photocopy of fee receipt) to facilitate the timely transfer of fees.
Hostel Accommodation
There are four boys hostel and five girls hostels.. Accommodation in the hostels is limited.
Therefore apply for hostel immediately after getting admission. For hostel accommodation

Entrance Test (For UG Only) : June 27, 2018, Wednesday
UG Counseling : June 28, 2018, Thursday at 10:00 A.M.
PG Counseling : June 28, 2018, Thursday at 02:00 P.M.
List of documents required during the counseling
You are advised to bring the following documents and 2 Self Attested set of photocopies :
1. MP Online Payment Receipt OR Admit Card - for verification
2. Date of birth Certificate (10th class Mark sheet) - for verification
3. Class 12th Mark sheet - for verification
4. SC/ST certificate as well as Income Certificate from competent authority, if applicable.
The certificate should be the latest - for verification
5. Two passport size photographs.
6. Migration Certificate - Original to Submit
7. Transfer Certificate – Original to Submit
All documents required for verification will be returned back, after the verification process at
counseling time.
