DTA Scotland

• Independent charitable company established in 2003

• Membership-based & run by volunteer board from DTs

• 200 member Development Trusts• Currently mainly funded through two

Scottish Government contracts

DTAS Role

• Improve effectiveness of member development trusts & promote networking

• Support establishment of new DTs• Deliver Community Ownership Support

Service for community asset transfers• Promote the DT approach, influencing policy

& representing sector’s views and interests

Development Trust:

• community organisations set up by ordinary people to improve the quality of life within their own communities

• about communities agreeing aspirations and development priorities for their areas, and making them a reality
