In February I had the pleasure of presenng Alawa Primary School with a new NT flag and a cabinet for their new community room, which I am looking forward to seeing, and to have Nakara Primary School year 6 students for morn- ing tea during their tour of Parliament House. I am parcularly proud to carry shadow porolio responsibility for mental health and connue to advocate for improved service delivery in the Territory. Issues relang to traffic on Alawa Crescent, Tiwi Gardens Road, Rocklands Drive and Airlie Circuit have been reported to the City of Darwin for acon, and local residents nofied. If you would like more informaon please contact Council or my office. A number of groups are using my community room – if you are a not-for-profit community group and need some where to meet please contact my office on 8999 6343 to make a booking. Finally I would like to congratulate those students from local schools who won awards on Australia Day, and local Amy Hetherington who won the City of Darwin Young Cizen of the Year Award. It is wonderful to hear of all of the great work being done from Casuarina! Copper Switch off in Casuarina At present, the NBN is rolling out in the Casuarina area. Many of you will have had NBN installed in your home already. Areas in purple are NBN ready (see right). Because of the NBN rollout, the old copper lines will need to switched off and Telstra has informed me that the switch off is planned for June 10 2015. Customers in this area need to switch to the NBN to avoid any potential disruption to their landline and broadband services. Advice is that that you immediately place an NBN order by contacting your preferred internet service provider. Customers who already have an NBN fibre order are exempt from copper disconnection until their NBN service is successfully installed. Call 1800 OUR NBN for more information. From Lauren, A public meeting was held by the DHA to discuss the plans for the new sub- urbs at Lee Point in December, which I attended with Member for Wanguri, Nicole Manison. After this meeting a submission was lodged with thoughts that had been raised with me to ensure they are part of considerations as planning progresses. Periodically development proposals come up in our local area that may be of interest and I encourage residents to make comments directly through the Development Consent Authority. You can see all current proposals at http://www. lands.nt.gov.au/planning/dca or come to my office where a hard copy can be printed.

Development of Lee Point

The wet season has truly set in and it is great to see schools back for the new year. It has been fantastic to meet more of you when door knocking or at my mobile offices, and I look forward to firing up the barbie over coming weeks around the local area!

In February I had the pleasure of presenting Alawa Primary School with a new NT flag and a cabinet for their new community room, which I am looking forward to seeing, and to have Nakara Primary School year 6 students for morn-ing tea during their tour of Parliament House.

I am particularly proud to carry shadow portfolio responsibility for mental health and continue to advocate for improved service delivery in the Territory.

Issues relating to traffic on Alawa Crescent, Tiwi Gardens Road, Rocklands Drive and Airlie Circuit have been reported to the City of Darwin for action, and local residents notified. If you would like more information please contact Council or my office.

A number of groups are using my community room – if you are a not-for-profit community group and need some where to meet please contact my office on 8999 6343 to make a booking.

Finally I would like to congratulate those students from local schools who won awards on Australia Day, and local Amy Hetherington who won the City of Darwin Young Citizen of the Year Award. It is wonderful to hear of all of the great work being done from Casuarina!

From Lauren,

A public meeting was held by the DHA to discuss the plans for the new sub-urbs at Lee Point in December, which I attended with Member for Wanguri, Nicole Manison. After this meeting a submission was lodged with thoughts that had been raised with me to ensure they are part of considerations as planning progresses.

Periodically development proposals come up in our local area that may be of interest and I encourage residents to make comments directly through the Development Consent Authority. You can see all current proposals at http://www.lands.nt.gov.au/planning/dca or come to my office where a hard copy can be printed.
