Introduction

This workshop is intended to share with you the benefit of my experience in developing commercial projects internationally. While I certainly don’t pretend to know everything about every type of development, I do know a number of things that may be helpful to you in your own efforts. I will use my involvement with the Yas Island project in Abu Dhabi, UAE as a case study. Let’s begin.

• 2,600 hectares of man made island • Conceived in 2006 • Began construction early in 2008 with a workforce
