Developing Instant Family Fun Family fun really isn’t instant! It takes some planning, thought and prayer to create wholesome family acvies that are meaningful. Especially when it comes to Family Home Evening. There are thousands of ideas in books and from friends, and limitless online resources available at the touch of the buon to find inspiraon for family acvies. Our simple idea is one way to help organize all those great ideas so you can use them effecvely at Family Home Evening. First, choose a theme for each Monday of the month. Then keep a worksheet nearby all year long, so that when you think of a skill you really want to share with your family (how to mend socks!), or an acvity that you’d really like to do together (hike the trail behind your neighborhood), or a lesson that you know your family really needs (dang guidelines), you can make a note of it on your worksheet. When Monday night rolls around, you’ll be ready with a handful of ideas that will help you build beer, more meaningful family night acvies for your family. It’s not important to plan every Monday night acvity for the whole year. The great thing about planning by theme is that you can shiſt ideas around during the year and capture the very best, most mely, and most meaningful acvies when your family needs them most. In the following pages, you’ll find several worksheets to help you organize your family nights in this way. These planning worksheets encourage a brief pause for preparaon that can greatly enhance the outcome of family home evening acvies: instead of rushing through an irrelevant lesson or forgeable acvity, you can beer plan family home evening acvies as a stepping stone to help you reach long term personal and family goals and establish meaningful tradions. Planning with your family goals in mind is much more meaningful than assigning the prayer, the lesson, and the treat! Someofmywarmestmemoriesareofmychild-hoodhome.Myparentswereconcernedwiththeactivitiesofeachchild.Theyplannedfuneveningsathome.Wewouldwatchthehoneycandyboil,then pour it out so it could cool, and then we would all stand around and pull it into strings so we couldcutitandenjoyit.Thiswasgreatfun!
