The night was cold, the darkness was creeping in and no one was in sight

of the detectives prying eyes. The detective came from the top police

station and he could almost solve any crime in less than a day. “Murder,”

He thought “sounds like an easy one”. Tonight’s murder took place in an

apartment two blocks down from a convenience store, ! levels up, with

no security footage of when it happened or what had happened. The room

itself had enough evidence, though, a glass balcony door shattered, the

telephone o" its hook and blood on a #ersian rug. $ho’s blood you may

be wondering. %t was hard to tell. &aturally, you would think it’s the

person’s that got murdered. 'ut the thing is, the body was found outside

    the apartment.

The body had broken bones everywhere. There were a few punctures inthe lungs and a dislocated neck. %t was a gruesome sight but no blood.

The detective looked outside of the balcony and saw blood marks on the

wall but nothing else of interest. He knew that the fall caused the in(uries

and nothing showed that the murderer didn’t achieve his goal of killing

the person with his hands. )ain started to pour, washing the blood o" the

wall very slowly. He went back inside. He picked up the phone that was

hanging o" the hook and looked through the caller’s history, it had been

deleted. He placed the phone down “*mart +uy but not smart enough”

    mumbled the detective

The antiue phone then erupted with rings “)%&+, )%&+, )%&+, )%&+”.

*natching up the phone with a -ying hand, “$ho is this” the detective

    yelled.

“&o one you know,” said the raspy voice. “There will be another murder.

     Tonight.”

“+od dammit % will /nd you and end you soon,” said the detective angrily.

“The thing is you will never /nd out where or why.”

“)eally % can /nd you right now.” The detective thought the voice spoke

with an %talian accent0 but was that a hint of 1hinese The phone calldistorted with loud banging that sounded like /recrackers in the

background. Then the phone went dead.

He slammed the phoned down and gave the police a ring with his mobile

    phone

“Make sure the place is untouched,” said the 2etective sternly “% don’t

one bit of it have dust or %’ll /re you, gone to 1hina Town”

He ran downstairs to his sleek black mustang and drove over the speed

limit to 1hinatown. 1hinese &ew 3ear was happening at the time,

/reworks lit up the sky and aromas of spices and herbs /lled the air.2etective lifts his head out of the car as it stopped raining and

investigated around. 4ware that he had no plan or clue on where to /nd

the killer. Then thought and had all the clues he needed, he relayed the

evidence of the room in his head and saw that you could see a bit the very

edge of 1hinatown from the balcony. Trying to remember he could only

see one room with a light that really caught his attention. %t was like a

person was watching him the whole time but he never thought that the

murderer would watch his every move. He (umped into the car and -oored

the accelerate to the very edge of 1hinatown where it was still vibrant

with lights and markets selling strange products.

He stepped out of the car and peered into his own memory, sifting

through remembering which building the /gure was in, “%t was the 5th 0

no !rd 0no, it’s the 6th one from my right, that’s right” whispered the

detective. His eye averted to the 6th building to his right which was a

cheap old motel with a little sign saying no vacancy. “There you are,” said

the detective looking past the 6th window to the right on the 6th level and

saw the blinds lifted with a face. The face was too hard to tell as it was too

high to see but the face withdrew from the window. The detective ran

through the lobby passing the la7y manager and looked for a lift. There

was none8 “9" course there’s no lift” muttered the detective, running up

    the stairs to level

The room door was completely shut so he rammed the door until it

opened and then lunged for cover e:pecting gunshots, but none

appearing. There was no;one inside (ust a window with a man;si7ed hole

in it, he ran to the window and found a person (umping down the /reescape ladder trying to escape, with the person a knife was visible in a

trench coat and two pistols holsters. The detective descended from the

window onto the /re escape ladder, the ladder shook as the rust scraped

    the side of the building.

*liding down the ladder the detective realised that the murderer was

approaching the end of the stairs so he took a wager and leapt o" the last

! -oors to the ground. The murderer reached the ground and turned with

his dual desert eagles out when he realised that the detective was not

there, he looked around and from the bla7ing lamp post he saw a darkshape falling towards him. The detective managed to kick the murderer in

the chest and knock out both guns out his hand, the murderer then tried

to whip out his knife but the detective was ready for it. He kneed the

murderer in the stomach and then grabbed him and head butted him, but

the murderer sidestepped and drove the right knee into the stomach of

the detective. %t caused him to be winded and tried uppercutting the

    murderer but was too winded.

The murderer then put his hands grubby hands around the detective’s

neck and tried to strangle him however the detective was ready and

shoved the murderer into the brick wall. 'ack on his feet, the murdererlunged with his bayonet into the unprotected stomach. The detective eyed

the knife and spied blood on it and anticipated the move. He leaned back

and caught the wrist of the murderer and twisted the hand. The knife

dropped with a “1” and the murderer’s eyes /lled pain, the detective

took his chance and karate chopped the neck and the murderer hit the

ground hard. The detective was about to check if the person had a pulse

but apparently did not wanted to be touched as the body started with life

and dragged the detective down kicked him backwards into a glass door

    of the ne:t door apartment.

The door shattered and detective laid there with too much pain coursing

through his back, the detective then saw the gun glinting right ne:t to him

and hid it underneath him as the murderer walked closer with his knife in

his right hand. The detective thought “% need him talking, % need him

    distracted”.

“$hy do it.” said the 2etective

“$hy do what,” said the murderer sarcastically

“The murder, why did you kill them”

“Them % only killed one person, oh % don’t know maybe because % hate

them so much that it makes my blood boil with the hatred of a thousand

    /ery suns.

“Typical 1hinese” The detective muttered, “'ut why hide in 1hinatown

with no intent of killing someone else”

“$ho said % wanted to kill the one person, % going to kill anyone else %

hate, which includes you,” said the murderer craftily “$ell why hide here, though $hat was the point” said the detective

    with a ragged breath

“To keep an eye on you and to be closer to my ne:t victim who was a

1hinese woman who % dated once and she broke my heart but what does it

matter you are going to die on the very spot tonight.” 3elled the murderer

and brought down the knife at the detective

“% don’t think so8” he shot the remaining capacity of the gun and the man

about to stab him to death fell to the ground with a face of surprise, the

knife that he held dropped to the ground right in front of the detectives

face and the detective blacked out.

The police later found him !? minutes later and patched him up with

bandages. The detective was asked about the murder and he replied “The

murderer called the person while he was on the roof of the apartment, and

then burst through the balcony window. The women screamed but was

stopped when the man was strangling her who may be his e:;girlfriend,

then the women took the knife in the guy’s coat pocket and stabbed him

once in the side of the stomach but only a slight gash and the blood

dripped on the rug” the detective paused and then continued on “The

man grabbed the women by the throat and my guess threw he hitting thebalcony then falling o" the edge.” “$here’s the evidence and what police

station are you with” shouted the police o@cer, but the detective walked

away with his wounds and swearing to +od that he will attain the

murderer and make sure he stays in prison for the rest of his life.

The murderer wasn’t dead, though, the body disappeared and what wasleft was the trail of blood. The murderer /lled with anger and revenge

being beaten by a lousy person set his blood on /re and he swore to the

2evil that he will get the detective one day and make his life a living hell.
