TIPPING GUIDELINES Please be advised that tipping is customary in Europe. Please make a note of the below suggestions, so that you can budget accordingly.

Approximate per person: üCruise Manager (if applicable): EUR 5-7 per person, per day. üShip Crew (this is pooled amongst all staff at the end of the cruise): EUR 2-4 per crew member, per day. üLocal Guide: EUR 2-3 per half day of sightseeing, per person, per guide. üRestaurants & cafes: if a tip is not included, rounding up the bill is customary (i.e. if EUR 54, pay EUR 60), but should general be around 10%, depending on the quality of service. Restaurants in Europe often include a service charge which is often not gratuity for the staff. üTaxis: Tip up at 10% of the fare. We recommend you book taxis via your hotel reception and pre-negotiate taxi fares. üTips are also given to hotel room attendants, hairdressers, and other places of service.

PACKING Essentials for this trip are: A swimming suit (or 12), shorts, T-shirts, comfortable walking shoes, your favorite book and a relaxed attitude! The Adriatic Sea is beautifully clean and crystal clear, even those who may not usually swim in the ocean will find it very hard to resist. With a high salt content for added buoyancy and sheltered bays, swimming is easy & relaxed. We also recommend you bring some clothes for the cooler evenings. Generally a light jacket, casual trousers and jeans will suffice. Sun cream, a hat, sun glasses and a beach/swimming towel are also suggested.

ON BOARD – GENERAL Most captains are the boat owners and this lifestyle is part of a family tradition usually stretching over many generations. It’s common that the crew members are part of one family or one family is owner of several boats.

Electricity and water are available, but in a limited capacity. The boat has a generator that makes a certain level of noise, so with your peace and relaxation in mind they are turned off late at night or while the boat is docked in peaceful bays. Water tanks have the capacities to match the number of beds on the boat with a central heater, so there is enough warm water for everyone, assuming everyone uses water reasonably.

Please plan to charge your personal devices during the day as there may not be power/electricity overnight.

SPECIAL - MEAL REQUESTS Please note it is not permitted to bring or consume your own drinks onboard. Drinks are available from the bar in the salon. The bar is equipped with different alcohol and non alcoholic beverages. If you would like to consume a special drink that is not available from the bar please make prior arrangements with the crew. Wine can be bought from the bar by the bottle and kept for you and served at lunch or as requested during the day.

ON BOARD - SAFETY & SECURITY The boat is equipped with life boats and life jackets which can be found under the beds or in a marked wardrobe on deck or in the salon. If you are non–swimmer, we kindly ask you inform the captain on check-in.

During your stay on the boat you need to pay attention to the peculiarities of small ship life i.e. steps are much tighter and sharper, be alert while coming down or going up particularly while the boat is traveling. Decks can be extremely slippery during rain or morning humidity, so while you are walking on the boat please hold the rails with one hand.

Many of the historic harbors are small and sailing Dalmatia has grown considerably in popularity over the past ten years. As such multiple mooring in port is now common i.e. vessels are docked next to each other and passengers must reach shore via other vessels. Please be very careful while you are going from one boat to another. Although theft is extremely uncommon we suggest you lock your cabin when in port.

Page 7: DETAILED ITINERARY...This afternoon arrive in Hvar, Croatia’s sunniest and most popular islands. Hvar is a unique fusion of luxurious Mediterranean nature, rich culture and historical

For the safety and security of all guests the captain has the right to change a planned route in case of bad weather or unfavorable condition in ports. They may also change the direction of your itinerary to avoid crowded ports or predicted bad weather. Only in the case of extremely bad weather, is it possible that you will not visit all the ports as listed in your itinerary. Due to port regulations, vessels may not be able to dock in port until approximately 5:00 pm. The captain of your vessel will endeavor, when possible, to dock earlier, however this can not be guaranteed.

In addition all guests are obliged to look at the on board notice board everyday and check the departure time and ensure they are on board by that time.

Please be aware that small boats are very acoustic, please be considerate to your fellow guests and act accordingly. An official silent time starts at midnight. However some harbors may be crowded with boats and guests which may cause some disturbance. We cannot take responsibility for the noise and behavior of other guests and ships.

ELECTRICITY Voltage is mostly 220V, 50-cycle alternating current. Electrical outlets are round, two-pin.

EMERGENCY NUMBERS If you are making an emergency call from a phone booth, you do not need to insert a telephone card. Clearly state which service you require.

CROATIA... Country Code: +385Emergency Switchboard: 112Police: 192Fire Brigade: 193Ambulance: 194

MONEY ATM cards: For convenience and the best available exchange rate, you will find ATM cards indispensable. We suggest these as your main source of funds when traveling just as at home. Take the same amount of care when using an ATM in Croatia as anywhere in the world. If possible carry two cards with cash withdrawal options when traveling in case one card is lost. Check with your bank to ensure you can withdraw cash on your cards abroad. Also ensure that cards are valid at least 30 days beyond tour completion. Ask your bank for their emergency numbers suitable for international access to report a loss. ATMs are common place throughout Croatia, even on most of the islands and are usually easily found at the port or the main street and inside some shops or supermarkets.

The local currency is the Croatian Kuna (HRK) and will be needed. Cash may be obtained on arrival at exchange offices, banks or from ATMs. Traveler’s cheques are impractical and have limited use. Notes should be in good condition (not stained or torn), and recently printed; as banks and exchange offices are very particular.

Credit cards: Major credit cards are accepted in most major outlets, but smaller shops and restaurants particularly on some of the Islands may not accept credit cards or require a minimum purchase amount. They are not appropriate for incidentals such as small purchases, souvenirs, snacks, etc.

FAQ - Know before you go!WEATHER IN CROATIAAverage summer temperatures are around 72°F, but this also means that in July and August you can expect over 40 days with daily temperatures of over 86°F. The average sea temperature varies from 52°F in winter to 77°F in summer.

MONEY IN CROATIAWhile Croatia is a part of European Union, the country still doesn’t use Euro as a common currency. Croatian currency is Kuna (short: kn). Exchanges rates vary so be sure and check the most current exchange rate prior to departure.

WHAT TO BRING TO CROATIAThis means that if you are visiting Croatia during the summer majority of your clothes should be light. Nevertheless, a wind-breaker jacket, and a pair of long pants, and leggings always come handy. Don’t forget your beachwear including swimsuits and cover ups, water shoes, sun glasses, and microfiber towel. A pair of sandals, and a pair of walking shoes is also a must.

TOURIST REGISTRATIONAll tourists staying in Croatia need to be registered at a local tourist office. And non-EU citizens will also be automatically regis-tered at the police. This is the reason why during the check in process at any hotel, private accommodation, or campsite, you’ll be requested to show (and often leave until the next morning) your passport or an ID card.

WHAT AM I GOING TO EAT?People in Croatia love to eat! It’s varied, fresh, local, and tasty. In continental Croatia people eat lots of meat, while a diet in coastal regions is heavily based on fish and other seafood.

CAN I DRINK THE WATER?The tap water is safe to drink in Croatia. However, if you still prefer to drink a bottled water, bear in mind that bottled water is extremely expensive here. For instance, a 1.5 L bottle of a natural water costs around 6 Kn in a supermarket, three times more expensive than in Italy.

IS CROATIA PART OF EU & SCHENGEN VISA REGIMENT?Croatia is a member country of the EU. However, the country is still not a part of the Schengen visa regiment. This means that you’ll still need to show your documents at the border entering Croatia from the neighbouring EU countries, and vice versa.

SPEAKING THE LANGUAGE?You don’t speak Croatian? No worries, most of Croatians speak at least some English, and many speak at least another foreign language. Besides English, German and Italian are most widely spoken in Croatia.

IS INTERNET AVAILABLE?Internet in Croatia is widely available. WiFi coverage is pretty good, with many towns offering free wifi hot spots at prominent places in a town. Most of private accommodation, as well as hotels, and even campsites, offer a free WiFi internet connection.

CRIME IN CROATIACrime: While violent crime is rare, isolated attacks targeting specific persons or property may occur and be racially-motivated or prompted by lingering ethnic tensions from Croatia’s war for independence.• Safeguard your belongings in public areas, especially in bus or railroad stations, airports, gas stations, and public transportation. Report incidents of theft to the local police. File a police report if your U.S. passport is stolen.• Don’t display outward signs of wealth. It may make you a target for thieves.• Avoid “gentlemen’s clubs.” In the past, such establishments have presented foreign customers with inflated bills and threatened those who refuse to pay.
