Surfistas, windsurfistas y kitesurfistas no se ponen de acuerdo sobre si la mejor playa para surcar las olas en la más oriental de las afortunadas es la de Famara o la zona de La Santa, así que habrá que surfear ambas. y al norte de la isla, el archipiélago Chinijo. La reserva marina más grande de la unión europea es tan exclusiva que solo dos excursiones diarias se acercan a sus 700 kilómetros cuadrados de vida impertérrita ante el paso del tiempo. todas las islas tienen embarcadero (aunque varios son de propiedad privada, conviene informarse si se opta por la navegación por libre) y se pueden conocer en catamarán. Sus escasos 100 metros de profundidad media hacen de su vida subacuática una delicia para el snorkel y la inmersión con bombona.

Surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers can’t agree on which beach is the best for catching waves on the eastern most Fortunate is the one in Famara or the one in La Santa, so they go to both. and to the north of the island is the Chinijo archipelago. the european union’s largest marine reserve is so exclusive that only two excursions per day get near its 700 square kilometres of wildlife that remain untouched by the passage of time. all of the islands have piers (although some of them are private, so it is a good idea to ask around first if you plan to take about out yourself) and can be visited by catamaran. their average depths of a mere 100 metres make their underwater life a treat for snorkelling and scuba diving.

surf Y fuerteventura, unIdos por el aIre surfIng and fuerteventura, unIted bY aIrel club Flag Beach Windsuf, en Corralejo, tiene fama de lugar pensado para conocer lo último sobre deportes de vela y viento. Si el bodyboarding suena arriesgado se puede probar con el stand up paddle. en cuestión de velocidad, la interminable playa de Sotavento parece hecha a medida para el buggy vela. Morro Jable se llama el corazón de la zona sur, el sitio donde el viento no deja de soplar. y La Laguna, centro neurálgico de las dunas de Jandía, es un clásico del kitesurf. para el último chapu-zón, el Charcón es la imagen de arena blanca y vegetación dispersa que todo visitante inmortaliza. the Flag Beach Windsurf club, in Corralejo, is famous for being the place to learn about the latest in wind and water sports. if bodyboarding rounds too risky, give the stand up paddleboard a try. and if you’re looking for speed, the endless Sotavento beach seems like it was made for land sailing. the heart of the island’s southern tip is called Morro Jable, a place where the wind never stops blowing. and La Laguna, the nerve centre of the Jandía dunes, is a kitesurfing clas-sic. Es el mejor modo de atraer grandes depredadores ma-rítimos, con la consiguiente lucha entre hombre y pez una vez que este pica.Jigging originated in Japan and involves tugging on a weighted lure in a rhythmic motion, from a boat, to simulate the escape of a fish. It is the best way to attract big ocean preda-tors and, once it takes the bait, the fight between man and fish ensues.

sTAnD uP PADDLeStANd Up pAddLeboARd Su nombre inglés es mucho más llamativo que el surf de remo español, pero mucho menos exótico que su denominación hawaia-na original: Ku Hoe He’e Nalu. Literalmente significa “ponerse de pie, remar, navegar una ola”. Y en eso consiste, en avan-zar usando un remo mientras se permanece de pie sobre una tabla. Hace siglos que se practica en Polinesia.Its name in English is descriptive, but its origi-nal name in Hawaiian is much more exotic: Ku Hoe He’e Nalu. Liter-ally, this means “to stand, to paddle, to surf wave”. And that’s what it’s all about, going forward using a paddle while standing up on the board. People have been doing it in Polynesia for centuries.
