Open House Agenda

7:00-7:10- Welcome and Refreshments

During this time I will greet the parents and give an overview of the evening while they are enjoying some refreshments. The menu for the refreshments will include: vegetable tray, crackers and cheese, pretzels, coffee and water.

7:10-7:25- Scavenger Hunt

Each parent and child will be given a list of things to find in the school. They will be given fifteen minutes to find everything on the list and then report back to the classroom. This will hopefully be a fun way to get the children and the parents, familiar with the school and with my classroom. I will include things such as , (where is the lunchroom?, find the gymnasium, what is one center that is in our classroom, how many computers are there in the computer lab?) I will also have our text books laying around for them to look at and some other books that we will be using throughout the year.

7:20-7:45- PowerPoint

I will have a power point ready for the parents to watch. Included will be some of the things that we will be doing throughout the year, what the students are expected to know when they leave my classroom, helpful hints for education at home and some suggestions or ways that they can help volunteer in the classroom. There will be time at the end of the power point for questions and concerns. During this time the children will have activities that they can do while the parents are visiting with me. There will be puzzles, drawing paper and games that they can play together. There will also be a cart of books there for the children to read.

7:45-8:00- Questions and Social Time

This will be a very informal part of the evening where they parents will be able to talk to the other parents or talk to me. They can look around the classroom, look at our books or textbooks or ask me questions. I will have a card there that they can fill out at the end of the evening on how they think the night went and any suggestions they may have for improvement.

Scavenger Hunt Rules!

•You will receive a list of things to find in the school

•15 minutes to find as many things on the list as you can!

•Some of the items will include (school gymnasium, cafeteria, etc.)

•Some items will also be located in the classroom.

•What we will know when we leave Kindergarten!

•Contact information for any questions or concerns
