What are the components of a lesson plan?

Includes: name, date, grade level, subject, and topic Learning Target – this clearly states your broad goals and specific

objectives for learning (concepts, procedures, skills you want students to learn

Core Content/Academic Expectations – Identify and explain how your objectives relate to Core Content for Assessment

Materials – List materials that will be used during the lesson. Attach print material to be used with students (worksheets, open responses)

Procedures – Describe the strategies and activities you will use to involve students and accomplish your objectives (group work, lab, lecture) – need to include review from the day before and a recap of the day’s lesson – most important part of the lesson

Student Assessment – Clearly state how you will assess student progress. This will vary among school districts.

Directions Using the format on the following page for a

lesson plan, design a lesson of your choice for a group of elementary students in regards to a subject in agriculture. The lesson must be 30 minutes in length.

Objective 2: Develop a Standards Based assessment

The test should contain 10 multiple choice test questions each question should have four possibilities each possibility should be similar in length do not include a response with the following phrases:

all of the above, none of the above The test should contain an open response item.

open response should have at least 3 parts they have to answer

when answering students should put the letter or number of the part they are answering

The test should be aligned to state content standards including: KY Core Content in Science, Math, Reading, and Writing KY Occupational Skills Standards

- Currently Agricultural Education is tested in three areas: Horticulture, Production Crop, Production Livestock. Agribusiness is currently being developed. Students that are completers in these areas (three or more classes with a B or higher in the class) can be register to take a Skills Standard test. If a student passes, they will receive 3 free hours of college credit at one of the state’s public universities – UK, WKU, Morehead State, Murray State, and EKU.

Directions Using a unit from an agriculture class, develop a Standards Based assessment. Beside each question,

list the Core Content Standard and/or KOSSA Standard. The test should consist of 10 multiple choice question and one open response question. The open response question should be based on a KOSSA released item in one of the agricultural education areas
