PlantsPlants in the hot dessert have thick stems and leaves to store water and their roots extend for meters underground to collect water, such as the spiny cacti. They also store chemicals in their stems to protect them.Plants in the cold deserts don’t usually grow more than a meter tall, like the plants in the hot desert their roots extend for meters underground such as sagebrush.

Physical Features

In hot deserts the soils are salty because minerals don’t wash away. Sometimes there is a lot of rain in a short period of time.

Most precipitation falls as snow, it mostly rains in the spring. The soil is also salty like the hot desert.
